Might literally be the top potato dish I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and a wonderful balance of flavors with the smoked salmon, poaches eggs, and yogurt. The lemon ricotta pancakes and shakshuka were also big hits with the group. They offer brunch alcoholic drinks in pitchers which is convenient to share with the table. The space is huge and tastefully decorated with dozens of real plants. Great place for big groups. There was a live jazz with a vocalist playing which added to the high energy. It got a bit loud at times, but we were seated right next to the stage. The space is so beautiful but since I came here for the happy hour, I was very disappointed with limited options. I went to Fandi Mata for brunch and it felt like a little escape from the city. The space is huge, filled with greenery, and has a relaxed, airy feel. There was also live music while we were there, which added a really nice energy to the room without being overwhelming. We shared a few dishes and everything was excellent. The deviled eggs were delicious and well balanced, and the halloumi was super flavorful, especially paired with the sesame flatbread it came with. Our favorite dish was The Levant, a lamb and egg dish with harissa yogurt that had just the right amount of spice and tied everything together beautifully. The cocktails were also great. The Paloma Picante was tasty but definitely had some heat, the Marla surprised us with a delicious strawberry foam on top, and the Grass is Greener ended up being my favorite. PROS: 5 stars because of the service and our food. Our waiter, Danilo, was such a great sport taking care of our big table. He was so attentive and really nice to see someone that showed that he cared about our orders coming on time. The restaurant and ambience was beautiful and my favorite items were the Mediterranean cigars and the Caesar Salad Con: many of us ladies noticed a bathroom smell all night long and I really think it was just where we were sitting. This restaurant has such a fun, energetic party vibe that is perfect for groups. On a Saturday evening, there was a DJ spinning with a disco ball and all. The space is gorgeously decorated with plants and colorful tiles from the bottom to second floor. As for the food, nothing really stood out to me. Our each had a cocktail as I had the Good Night Adeline ($19). Then our table of 8 shared two orders of the Mezze Platter ($32) and Croquetas ($19), which came with 4 cheesy balls each. The mezze platter was nice to share as it came with three dips and a variety of spreads and small bites. Then we also ordered a Sopressata ($26) and Prosciutto ($28) pizza for the table as well. It was odd that one pizza was cut in 8 slices while the other was in 6 slices. Also, the prosciutto had way too much arugula on it. As we paid for the bill, our server offered us a free shot of tequila for leaving a Google review, so we all did. It turned out to be just half a shot, which we questioned. In the end, we left a bit confused and unsatisfied but it didn't seem like they could do anything about it. Beautiful place! A cross between a North African bazaar and industrial architecture. High ceilings with catwalk like structures up above. The interior designer has found a way to inject a cozy atmosphere into a vast and wide open space. The waitstaff were absolutely delightful. Every last one of them. From the waitress to the server to those bussing the table. We had an elderly lady with us who was cold as the AC register was directly above our table. I asked to move to a different table and we were promptly accommodated, and one of the staff came over and put some pillows behind our elder's back and made sure she was comfortable. That was beautiful! Now for the food. I'm a food snob and make no apologies for it. I can certainly nitpick. There'll be no nitpicking here. Everything was top notch, and we ordered a lot of food. I won't comment on all of it, but I do want to mention the hamburger. I don't usually order hamburgers in any place other than a diner. But I felt like a hamburger and was surprised to learn that this predominantly Mediterranean restaurant had one on the menu. Serendipity! Well, it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Presentation was beautiful (down to the mini gherkin sitting on top and secured by a decorative sandwich skewer, the bun branded with a nice design). It was a birthday party and we arrived pretty late. By the time we finished our dinner, the kitchen was about ready to close, so we didn't want to impose on the staff and keep them after working hours to order dessert for the birthday girl. I went to brunch a few weeks ago to catch up with a friend and this was the perfect spot to do that. When you first walk in it feels like you're in a beautiful garden. We were seated in a secluded spot so the live music wasn't too loud but at the same time our server did not forget about us. Our server was nice and recommended a few different options for food and drink. I ended up going with the steak and egg dish with a Strawberry Fields cocktail and my friend had the omelet with a Sabrosa cocktail. Our food and drinks were delicious and I even ordered dessert after. I had the tres leches cake minus the pistachios. I was looking for places to have a large brunch with a group of 13 people and I am so happy I found Fandi Mata. Their coordinator was incredibly nice when I emailed to inquire about the possibility about such a large party. I was pleasantly surprised to have been given the option to order a set menu vs. A la carte. We opted for a la carte since this was more of a casual brunch with family and we didn't want it to have the formal event vibes. We made a reservation in advance and had no issues with seating. When we arrived we were seared immediately. I was so amazed by how beautiful and spacious this restaurant is. The ceilings are so high, there is so much greenery-- it's definitely a change from the crammed spaces of Manhattan. Our server came to get our orders for food and drinks. I tried the Hugo which I really enjoyed. They also offer some large pitchers to share for the table which seems like a good deal for large parties so we ordered a mimosa pitcher which was pretty good. For food I tried: - croquetas: we ordered two orders of these to try and they were okay! The croqueta itself was adequately crispy with a nice moist inside. However, I am too used to savory croquetas and the dates inside these really threw me off. If sweet and savory fried foods are your thing, definitely order these! - deviled eggs: very good! Portion was pretty small for the price but I enjoyed the tangy and almost spicy like horseradish, with the balance of the mayo and the hint of dill. Very good! - arugula salad: citrusy, refreshing, simple! If you want some greens this is a good app. - omelette: most people in the table got omelettes and they were pretty good! They were generously filled with spinach, onions and cheese. The flavors were amazing. Some people added chorizo or salmon and they really enjoyed them. I got mine without any extra toppings but did get it with egg whites which was very good!! (Forgot to picture the egg white one but it was very nice). -French toast: favorite thing I tried! The toast was thick, with the perfect crispy crust, the spices were warm, and really complemented the mildly sweet blueberry compote and creamy whipped ricotta. Would order a whole one for myself next time. -desserts: we ordered 3 of their desserts to try. The tiramisu was okay-- the cream to cake ratio seemed a low and the cake vs. Lady fingers also threw me off. The pistachio gelato was creamy and delicious.
