Took one of my good friends here for her birthday, this place is beautiful with lovely greenery from the plants all around & the colors. I sat at the bar & ordered the cocktail flight (only available during happy hour & if sitting at the bar) all 3 drinks were delicious! Then eventually got seated at our table where we ordered a pizza & added prosciutto toppings to it with some wine, the staff was friendly & attentive to our needs as well. Overall we had a great time at Fanti Mata!

PROS: 5 stars because of the service and our food. Our waiter, Danilo, was such a great sport taking care of our big table. He was so attentive and really nice to see someone that showed that he cared about our orders coming on time. The restaurant and ambience was beautiful and my favorite items were the Mediterranean cigars and the Caesar Salad Con: many of us ladies noticed a bathroom smell all night long and I really think it was just where we were sitting. I hope the restaurant can do something about this because it smelled like cleaning products. So if you go there do not sit close to the wall where the bathrooms are.

This restaurant has such a fun, energetic party vibe that is perfect for groups. On a Saturday evening, there was a DJ spinning with a disco ball and all. The space is gorgeously decorated with plants and colorful tiles from the bottom to second floor. As for the food, nothing really stood out to me. Our each had a cocktail as I had the Good Night Adeline ($19). Then our table of 8 shared two orders of the Mezze Platter ($32) and Croquetas ($19), which came with 4 cheesy balls each. The mezze platter was nice to share as it came with three dips and a variety of spreads and small bites. Then we also ordered a Sopressata ($26) and Prosciutto ($28) pizza for the table as well. It was odd that one pizza was cut in 8 slices while the other was in 6 slices. Also, the prosciutto had way too much arugula on it. As we paid for the bill, our server offered us a free shot of tequila for leaving a Google review, so we all did. It turned out to be just half a shot, which we questioned. In the end, we left a bit confused and unsatisfied but it didn't seem like they could do anything about it. Anyways, really nothing all that special about this spot besides the party vibes if that's what you're going for.

I made a reservation a week in advance for a girls night I have had this place on my places to visit and glad it didn't disappoint as it was an IG recommendation. I was transported to Tulum, the doors were open which gave it a natural airy experience on a Friday night. We started with shared appetizers and picked a couple of entrees to share. There was a live DJ and the ambiance and food matched the energy. I would come again and spoke to my friends to visit!

Wow what an amazing establishment! I mean with the decor being beautiful and them selling paintings on the spot, service is great very friendly and knows the menu well for recommendations. Also, drinks made it love. I definitely prefer this for a great bday gathering or nice night out with someone special. Can't miss, definitely order the cucumber salad

Finally can cross Fandi Mata off the list. Another impromptu date night, we made a reservation for 9 pm and were excited to try this place out, was a little nervous due to the reviews but said why not?! We got in at 8:55 and the hostess told us our table wouldn't be ready for another 20 minutes, when we asked why, she replied "we're busy, go to the bar" ... I wanted to leave at that instinct but we were already there and starving lol .. We sat by the bar & could see that other people were also frustrated and waiting.. by 9:25-ish, another hostess came by and apologized so many times & took us to our table (she was so sweet and turned the night around). As for the vibe, the place itself is so spacious and beautiful. They had a live DJ and he was playing bangers. The food was okay, the temperature of some of the food was kinda cold? Out of all the items we ordered, the chicken kebabs were the best (portion wise & it was warm / tasty!) but my absolute favorite had to be the arancini rice pudding balls! The pistachio ice cream came melted but I think if the temperature was colder, it also would've been good! I can see myself coming back for the vibes and drinks!

Had a lil Sunday brunch with my girlfriends at Fandi Mata and it did not disappoint. The interior is super cute and the space is huge. They even had live music! We ordered the brunch platter which came with smoked salmon, eggs, pita bread, cream cheese and a whole bunch of condiments. Perfect girl finger food. We also got the tuna tartare and croquettes which were both delicious! We got a pitcher of the passion fruit drink and although it was strong, it was also tasty. The food and drinks are definitely a little overpriced here but you're paying for the ambiance.

Mediterranean inspired amid plant filled spacious warehouse deco. Outdoor vibes while being indoor. Food and drinks is top notch just pace of service could be dialed back a bit otherwise 5 star. No need to ask if finished with drink, appetizer and entree every 3 minutes. Give your customers little time to chill and relax especially at 6pm and only 25% at capacity.

Beautiful place! A cross between a North African bazaar and industrial architecture. High ceilings with catwalk like structures up above. The interior designer has found a way to inject a cozy atmosphere into a vast and wide open space. The waitstaff were absolutely delightful. Every last one of them. From the waitress to the server to those bussing the table. We had an elderly lady with us who was cold as the AC register was directly above our table. I asked to move to a different table and we were promptly accommodated, and one of the staff came over and put some pillows behind our elder's back and made sure she was comfortable. That was beautiful! Now for the food. I'm a food snob and make no apologies for it. I can certainly nitpick. There'll be no nitpicking here. Everything was top notch, and we ordered a lot of food. I won't comment on all of it, but I do want to mention the hamburger. I don't usually order hamburgers in any place other than a diner. But I felt like a hamburger and was surprised to learn that this predominantly Mediterranean restaurant had one on the menu. Serendipity! Well, it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Presentation was beautiful (down to the mini gherkin sitting on top and secured by a decorative sandwich skewer, the bun branded with a nice design). It was a birthday party and we arrived pretty late. By the time we finished our dinner, the kitchen was about ready to close, so we didn't want to impose on the staff and keep them after working hours to order dessert for the birthday girl. But, the waitress overheard us talking about a birthday dessert and took it upon herself to bring a piece of cake with a birthday candle. Nice surprise! 5 Stars for the entire evening! I highly recommend Fandi Mata to anyone who enjoys good food and friendly people.

Second to Ainslie. I decided to branch out but it wasn't as hyped as Ainslie. Why? Probably because of the prices. Ainslie has the unlimited mimosas or LI ice tea with a meal all for $35 bucks. Fandi has a carb heavy brunch for $45, no booze included. The food was delicious. I got the steak and eggs. Prices were high but it was almost all chicks. Ambiance was Morocco feel, bohemian, indoor atrium, very elegant.

I tried this place for brunch. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. Diana and Emily served us, and they were great. The place was super cute. We ordered the pg13 mocktail and the Espresso Martini, which were great. For food: Octopus Deviled Eggs Arugula Salad Omlete with potatoes Avacado toast Chocolate tart cappuccino gelato The food was good. I just wish the onion was cooked more in the Omlete. I really enjoyed the chocolate tart. All in all, it was a good experience.

Beautiful restaurant with way too high prices. Why are we playing house music guys I just wanna eat. Anyways food is mid and drinks are too strong to enjoy. They used to have this FIRE gnocchi which is the only reason I ever went back but they have since changed the menu. Went for brunch once and it was straight up not good. And they took the trash out I through the middle of the restaurant which rlly killed my vibe. I've made better steak at home.

Fandi mata's ambiance, vibe and decor is definitely a 10/10 . This place is great for just about anything, dinner date , girls night out or just to grab drinks at the bar. Overall I give the restaurant a 4/5 The appetizers and drinks were the star of the show . The mussels were so good and the sauce was very good 10/10 The mezze platter was so good!!! 10/10 as well The entrees were nothing to write home about 6/10 . Overall I would come back for apps and drinks

Is it easy to find parking near Mata for sunday brunch?

There is street parking so depends on time

I am trying to make a reservation for my friend's brithday and i need help with the seating areas. Which area is better for picture, dining room or main dining area?

Main dining are has good views but our in the open and less private . I'd do the seating on the 2nd floor which is like a balcony type style .

Is restaurant good for pre-teens? Families?

I wouldn't say it's good for that, as this is a trendy place with music that attracts a young crowd, but they will accommodate you. We went there for lunch with our 3 year old kid, and we had no issues, although we did feel a bit out of place.

How is the parking here? is there meters? thinking of stopping by for brunch on the weekend!

I went there on a Saturday, and was able to find street parking a couple of blocks away.

    Good for toddlers?

It gets pretty loud inside so I would say probably not, unless your child is okay with noise.

    Is the food here halal?

    No it is not

Does this place get busy? Is it necessary to make a reservation?

They take reservations over the phone and on ressie

    How are the vegetarian options?

    They have great vegetarian options!

This restaurant is 6 out of 5 stars…read more I ate here a few times back when I lived in NYC, and now that I can afford to, I make a point of going every time I visit NYC. I bring friends and family and lovers when they're in NYC with me. It doesn't get old. Some restaurants I visit a few times and get tired of. Not traif. The value is spectacular. I think the tasting menu was up to $62 the last time I visited (up from $45 when it opened around 2010 if I recall correctly, so the price has increased less than CPI inflation), plus an obligatory service fee in lieu of a tip. (A positive in my mind, I hate tipping culture.) For 10 or so dishes. That's like $6 a dish before the service fee and tax. You can hardly buy any prepared food dish in the city for $6. The cheapest items at Woorijip are $5. A slice of pizza at a midrange pizzeria is $5. You're getting around 10 excellent dishes at a fancy chef grade quality level for $6 each. There is a wide range of flavors, spices, ingredients, and textures. The ambience is comfortable, casual, and hipsterish. You can come as you are, you don't need to dress up. The patio is really nice when weather allows. There is enough space between tables (by NYC standards) for comfort. The cocktails are also quite good. I usually order two. Haven't tried the wine pairing as I'm not as much of a wine drinker. The service is consistently good. Traif is my standard of comparison for more expensive fine-dining restaurants. Any time I eat at a more expensive meal, I ask myself, did I enjoy the food more or less than I would have enjoyed a $62 meal at traif. More often than not, traif wins. The exceptions are usually at least 2x as expensive as traif. That's not to say there's no merit in trying those other restaurants, for the sake of variety or their unique ambiance. But like I was in Honolulu recently and had a tasting menu in Waikiki that was 3x the price of traif and it was terrible. Every dish was the same flavor, umami and salt. They put all their XP into plating and textures, and none into flavors. I was at Bad Roman recently and spent $100 before tax and tip on dinner and one drink. The ambiance was sublime, but the food was just so-so. Other than their neighboring sister restaurant xixa (similar format but Mexican-inspired), I know of no other restaurant in NYC where you can get nearly this price point for such high quality cheffy food. There used to be a few others maybe. They went out of business or raised their prices. Only traif and xixa remain. I've spent a lot of time looking. I haven't found any. As an Ashkenazi atheist, I also love how the name and theme of the restaurant poke fun at kashrut.

Looks like they have a cute outside dining area in the back although I didn't venture into it. Probably would be great for a balmy evening meal. All the food we got was delicious - they have a lot of pork and seafood on the menu. Everything was shareable and so flavorful. Really enjoyed the food. They'll try to sell you on the Chef's Choice but it just didn't seem like an efficient route for our table so we just ordered the items that caught our eye. Only reason for 4 stars is because the waiter's attitude changed a bit when we didn't order any alcoholic drinks. There's an automatic 20% tip here and it's already a pricey place so seems like a strange attitude to have...

4.4 and rounded up. Ambiance 4 stars…read more Food 5 stars. Service 4.3 stars. AMBIANCE: Walking to the restaurant from the subway, it's located on an unassuming block at the corner of 4th St and Havemeyer in Williamsburg, front of store doesn't particularly stand out. Walking in they've decorated with creative, crafty (in a good way) touches--the multitude of ropes draped from the ceiling add dimension to the ceiling and the bar back wall is composed of wood pieces forming a multi-colored herringbone pattern. Textured glass pendant lights hanging from the ceiling throw mini geometric patterns across the dark walls, and vibrant canvas artworks add pictorial interest along the walls. FOOD: YUM. I can see why this place was jam packed on a Saturday night, and reservations are needed. Strong recommendation for their tasting menu at $58 pp, what a delightful meal! 8 sharing dishes and 3 desserts were perfect for a party of five, and drinks are separate though you can add a cocktail pairing for $47. For each main they provide a serving per person, and the desserts are shared. I came hungry and was so full by the end of the meal--everything was delicious! - grapefruit guacamole w/house-made chips: the grapefruit chunks were "meaty" and surprisingly went really well with the guac, it added a different citrus element than the usual lime. Comes with a small bowl of maybe 6-7 chips and we asked for two chips refills since the chips to guac and salsa ratio was low. - spicy faroe islands' salmon tartar: tasty and I liked the latin flavors and corn, snow peas, a touch of wasabi. Flavors of the sesame-soy-truffle-lemon vin and crema got a little muddled. Relatively more "generic" dish of the evening though I was here for it! Any dish with fresh tender salmon, I can't complain. - blue crab and carrot tostada, generous shredded crab salad on top of freshly crisp blue corn tortilla. Topped with pumpkin seeds, dill, cilantro, and saffron-orange aioli. - three cheese & artichoke 'queso fundido': served in a very hot ceramic pot and super melty and delicious, eaten with the fluffy grilled pita and green apple slices + salsa. One of the top picks of the evening. - roasted bone marrow and chorizo, served as tacos with fresh blue corn tortillas, and added a sprinkle of pickled onions--does that sound amazing? Bc it was AAHMAZING. - spicy chipotle-guajillo shimp 'diablo' (not spicy): served with pumpkin tortillas and three accompaniments on the side--mushroom chile crisp, horseradish crema, celery 'salsa macha". Part 2 to make your own tacos was another hit! Our entire table agreed if they sold the sauce for the shrimp we'd all buy it. - heritage pork osso bucco 'carnitas' with Fall-spiced black mole, sour cherry mostardo, calabrian chile pesto: cue drooling now. This part 3 of the tacos was served on pumpkin tortillas; the meat was practically falling off the bone, tender, juicy and flavorful. - buffalo-style com 'elote: sooo good too! A little messier to eat since it comes drizzled with spicy hot sauce butter, feta, lime aioli, cilantro, though totally worth it! - Desserts: --green tea matcha churros: comes with two little pots of spiced mexican chocolate & passion fruit sauce. Warm, sugary and crisp without being too sweet. --pumpkin spiced-vanilla flan: topped with sour cherries, cocoa nibs & toasted seed 'trail mix", if you love flan you'll love this, so smooth and creamy with a bit of crunch and tang from the cherries. --pistachio tres leches cake with cream cheese frosting, raspberry, using an olive oil cake: we all agreed this was probably the best tres leches we've ever had. The pistachio nuttiness and the creaminess from the milks paired well. SERVICE: Very friendly and attentive service though it was very loud in the restaurant and they had to really shout. There was a delay in the middle of our meal I think bc kitchen was slammed, after the entree we waited about 35 min for our desserts. Considering they limited the seating to 2 hours and about half of our party arrived 20 min late, and accounting for the long wait pre-dessert, they did us solid by extending our table time by about an hour in total. Also great that they brought the first dessert out with a candle for my friend's birthday.

It was a little chilly for me to go in the pool but I can imagine the summer evening vibes with everyone wading in the water, enjoying some great cocktails and vibing to a live DJ. Last year I had been to Aliya for my birthday and had a fun time with a group of my friends! We got a ton of shared plates and enjoyed cocktails, some bites, some shots and a little bubble to cheers the next chapter of another year of life! Such a vibey spot!

The food was actually great no complaints there but the service was unbelievably slow. What made it worse is that we were the only people there on a Wednesday night. It took forever to get our small appetizers, and our server barely checked in. Even getting another drink felt like pulling teeth. It didn't make sense given the place was completely empty. Then the bill came and a 22% service charge was automatically added. For two people, small appetizers, and a few cocktails, our total came out to $288. That level of service definitely didn't earn a 22% fee. Food was delicious, but between the slow service and high charges, I wouldn't recommend this place. There are plenty of spots that actually match their prices with good service.

The sprouts came in a pile which was a surprise! They were perfectly roasted and hit just the spot. The duck leg was beyond tender. I don't think I had duck that tender before and it was on a bed of mint and fairy eggplant puree. I've never had eggplant in this format and it was a dream. Definitely a unique dish. I'm not much of a chocolate person nor a big dessert person in general......however I absolutely crushed my portion of the mousse cup and clearly it was big enough to share with 2 people! The draft wine was surprisingly delicious. Our server was incredibly sweet. The patio was very very cute. I would definitely return for future casual hangouts.

First off staff is SO friendly- genuinely kind. The wines were fantastic especially if you love a natural wine. My fav was Couples Goals. The breakfast was delicious and balanced- highly recommend the merguez and eggs- tasty earthy sausage, creamy scrambled eggs, tangy kale salad, and a delicious avocado. Good vibes. Indoor and outdoor space. Highly recommend!
