Customer Alert: Avoid This Agency for Ticket Purchases! I had a very disappointing experience with this travel agency. They add extra 5% margin to tickets that you can easily buy yourself at a lower price. Last week, I bought three Japan Rail Passes here at $1,650 ($550 each). Later, I discovered that the same JR Pass was available online for $530. That's $20 more per ticket for no added value. Online shopping and printing at home are also far more convenient. When I visited Amnet today to request a price match or refund, they refused, stating they are a different company from JR and are not obligated to match prices. Their refund policy is even worse--they deduct 15% from the cost of unused tickets. I never expected a travel agency to sell tickets at higher prices than those available online. This practice is unsustainable in the Internet era, where price information is readily accessible. I was naive to trust them, and they continue to exploit locals who don't compare prices online. I'm leaving this review to warn others and hopefully put an end to this deceptive practice. Don't fall victim to their overpricing. read more

Was recommended to get my JR pass for Japan here and found it very helpful and quick! I forgot who I met with, but he was really nice and patient. I had a lot of questions and he was able to help me choose the 7 day pass. I wanted to do this in CA vs Japan for convenience so I'm so glad they have this in Mitsuwa. This office is on the corner, facing all of the delicious food at the food court. Parking can be a drag. WiFi in Japan - I actually called the day before I departed to Japan and was able to get my WiFi stuff done over the phone. It was less than 10 mins and I got the confirmation during the conversation!! I'm going to be picking up the pocket WiFi at the airport, again so convenient! read more

My friend actually found this place for our JR passes and I'm glad he did. Other than parking, which can be a nightmare in the Mitsuwa lot, I was in and out of there within 5 minutes. You don't need anything but your first and last name as it's listed on the passport. Their price for the 14 day pass was a bit pricier than some prices I saw online, but if you include the shipping costs of those websites, they turn out to be about the same. Because I'm flying out in a couple of days, it made sense to just pick it up and have the sense of security. I can't stress how professional and efficient this place is. Not only were they NOT helpful when I was actually planning my trip to Japan, now that I have already returned from my trip, I'm getting their spam emails. Yeah, like their 195-page catalog of overpriced packages wasn't enough of a put off. Save yourself the trip and BAD customer service: JR passes and wifi rentals are all online. There are tourist welcome centers in literally every station, with English speakers, so no need to fret. Don't waste time and energy looking at their packages. Japan is a great country to travel at your own pace and wander! With internet connection, everything is at your fingertips! Google maps was pretty accurate and it was pretty easy to navigate the JR and local trains. JR pass and then local day pass was the way to go. We stayed in APA hotels throughout and they were super convenient. We booked rooms pretty much the day we planned to arrive. Can't wait to travel to Japan again! read more

Everything about Amnet is great. The representative who helped me gave detailed explanations about the JR pass on where to exchange, how to use, etc. I looked online first to check out the various prices they had regarding the JR pass. Not only was it pretty confusing with the various types of JR pass, but it was also much more expensive than Amnet! I was shocked to see how cheap the prices were at Amnet compared to online. I'm never buying a JR pass online ever again. The customer service was impeccable. The prices extraordinary. Service is extremely poor... Three people were sitting with no customers. I went there to get some information on JR pass and wifi. No one greeted me or paid any attention while I was picking up brochures. When I asked one of the staffs, she was not interested in helping me much.. I am going to another Japanese travel agency near Tokyo Central. I always use them to buy tickets. I went to Amnet as it is closer to my work, but extra 7 minute drive will worth for significantly better service. read more

The customer service agents are friendly and did a great job selling me rail passes. However, when my trip had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they said they would charge me a 10% penalty, even though the cancellation was out of my control. I pleaded with them not to, stating that my hotel and airline fully refunded. Not only the penalty stayed, but now it has been weeks waiting for the 90% refund. We were planning a trip to Japan and after doing extensive research I made the choice of purchasing our JR passes from Amnet. I find the prices online weren't much different than that at Amnet. (Only by a couple dollars). But I chose to go with Amnet solely because I can ask them questions in person. While their English may be limited, they are VERY helpful with any questions you may have. They even gave me a map and paper that showed me how to search for train timetables on Hyperdia app. If you are close to them I highly suggest you buy from them. They are located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. Keep in mind what you will be receiving are JR vouchers and you will need to exchange them for actual tickets once in Japan. When I look for air tickets to Japan, I usually call HIS and Amnet. This time I was looking for a one-way ticket to Japan. I called Amnet and asked for the lowest fare.I decided to hold the ticket and then called HIS. They gave me exactly the same price, so I asked them if they can lower it. And they did. $10 off. I called Amnet and said I found a cheaper ticket. They lower the price by $20! So I ended up buying that ticket from Amnet. So I recommend you call Japanese agencies (HIS, Amnet, IACE etc.) and shop around when you're looking for tickets to Japan. If you call Japanese travel agencies, be aware that many of them don't speak good English. read more

I went on a very, very busy Saturday and was helped right away. The first agent helped me buy my JR pass, explaining how to use the pass, and the dates it was eligible. I then went back and had a second agent help me reserve a pocket Wi-Fi and also explained my pick up and drop off options. As many others have, I went to Amnet to get a JR pass for my trip to Japan trip. They made the process super quick and easy! I called in to confirm if I could pick-up for different people, and was quickly helped my Eiki. She was quick in everything she did, which included answering my questions, responding to my emails, sending out invoices for separate payments to three different people, and processing the JR passes. I simply walked in to the location at the Mitsuwa Marketplace and picked up the passes with great ease. There was a lot of parking available on a Saturday morning, and there's no difficulty finding Amnet. We paid $249 for each ordinary adult JR pass, which was a few dollars cheaper than other locations and websites. You can submit your request for a JR pass on their website or walk-in and purchase it. Amnet gives you a voucher, which you then exchange in Japan and activate it for the day of your choice - I believe this in the case for all overseas JR pass sellers. We plan to exchange our voucher at Narita Airport, so it's definitely not an inconvenience. read more

I came here to purchase the JR passes for me and 3 others. They asked me to write down our names, had me check the names, printed out the vouchers then handed them to me with a list of where to pick up the tickets and map of the covered routes. The whole process took about 15 minutes. Honestly, I would not go back here again. Next time I'll just purchase the passes online and get them shipped to my house. The only perk of going here is that you'll get the vouchers right then and there. They offered 0 customer service. There were 3 people sitting at the counter when I came in. One was with customers so I approached the other two. Neither of them looked up to say "Hi" or "What can I help you with?" That's customer service 101. It wasn't until I spoke up to say hi that the girl would look up. Then when I told her I needed to purchase 4 JR passes, she turned to the guy and was like "Hey can you help them?" He barely looked up from the laptop and just handed me a notepad and asked me to write the names. He didn't even tell me that the names need to match what are on our passports. If I didn't do my research prior I could have written down the wrong names. The whole time he was helping me (if I could even call it helping) he didn't make any eye contact and his questions and responses were cut short and rude. Even when the girl was handing me the vouchers she was all like "this is this. This is this." Didn't even bother to ask "Do you have any questions?" Or "Is there anything else we can help you with?" Both the guy and girl totally gave off the "We don't want to help you and could careless about getting your business" attitude. So I will do exactly just that. read more
