    Tikiboat at night
    Maneki N.

Rented Tikiboat for my daughters 17th Birthday. We had a few early issues- reservation done online, got confirmation page(lucky I printed it) but no confirm by email. Day before we were notified that boat engine was out! Too late for us to change venues. Hank took care of us, we got a discount, and a way to still get a ride for the whole party around the harbor. The night was a success, all the crew was very accommodating, helpful and understanding of the situation. DJ Sly was great and worked with us also. Don't expect a first class boat- but a first class crew and fun experience is in store. Totally memorable experience for all.

The tikiboat is our go-to, sure-to-have a great time party boat! We've hosted a couple of events on the boat and everyone has had an amazing time. It leaves the pretentiousness on land with a welcoming staff; great bartender, DJ, crew and Captain. Both times we opted on the hosted bar and the Mexican food buffet. The bartender always had a drink ready, remembering practically each of the fifty guests' drinks, which was pretty impressive. The DJ read the crowd perfectly and had everyone dancing. The Mexican food was awesome, as commented by so many guests!! The simple things that many places get wrong, the tikiboat gets right; hospitality, good food, and music!

Last night we had the best Boat party for my husband! We had such a blast! We rented the Showboat for 4 hours and it was definitely worth it! Everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Thank you very much henk and Melissa for helping me plan my husband's boat party! And thank you to our captain for a smooth boat ride! Highly recommended!

This past Sunday (Memorial Day weekend), I was invited to a party on the Tikiboat. A friend reserved the boat for her boyfriend's bday party, and now I want to reserve the boat for my bday party!! We had an open bar, plenty of food (you can bring your own or go for a catering package), and a very cool boat to party on. An event on this boat can be explained much better, and quicker, by just visiting the website. The website has pics, prices, and many options to choose from so that you can host your own Tikiboat party. Man... good times!

    Fun.

The staff here were very welcoming and great hosts. The bartender did not skimp on the alcohol to mix in proportions and that was very much appreciated. The DJ had a great vibe; however, could vamp up the music selection a little bit! Although the boat is a little dated and very very simple, the staff was so very attentive that it made up for it. The food they catered on board was delicious too! When you first get on the boat, it seems as if the bottom floor is super super hot but once the boat gets moving through the harbor it's not bad at all. Great views and great time!

Sunset on The Tiki... And yes, it was sweeeeeet.

She was incredibly kind and helpful. She acknowledged my concerns, validated how I felt about the experience, and assured me that improved staff training would take place so that these kinds of interactions are eliminated in the future. Brianna restored my faith in Duffy rentals, but I still would not go back if Shirley is the face of the company at the boat dock. I was disappointed with how she handled a conflict during our experience. Rather than remaining calm, listening to the concern, and working toward a reasonable solution, the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and poorly managed. I understand that difficult situations can arise in any customer-facing business, but employees--particularly those placed in positions where they are expected to resolve problems--should have the training and professionalism to de-escalate conflict rather than contribute to it. My concern isn't that there was a disagreement; disagreements happen. It was the way the situation was handled. Better communication, maturity, and conflict-resolution training would have made a significant difference in our experience. But, again... thank you to Brianna for taking my call on a weekend.

With that being said, I had a blast! Mike was our Tour "Glide", and although we made a last minute reservation that the office forgot to tell him about (along with the another tour before us), he was not upset and treated us as old friends with as much attention to our safety and enjoyment as we could ask for. After a quick video and some 1:1 test rides in the office, we were off! Mike was a fountain of knowledge about the area, knowing stuff I wasn't even aware of. He offered to take pics for us, make rest stops and let us fly at our own pace. Conversation was interesting and not tired. We rode in the streets, back alleys and the boardwalk. All of us being first-timers with negligible balancing skills, found the Segways intuitive to ride and a great experience. We all want one now, but at $5k each, I got noped. If you are concerned with people looking at you, know that most are jealous! I heard kids begging parents to do it and lots of people saying "we should do that". My only criticism is that the Segways don't have cup holders for beverages, but that's understandable (I guess). Don't forget to tip your tour glide, they make the ride fun and interesting. Park across the street in the lot if you can. It was about $1.40 for the two hours on a Sunday afternoon.

That almost happened. We read the reviews on the Long Beach location, and they were really good. You could take your own self-guided tour there, but they never called us back. But now that I've done this, I think for first timers, self-guided is NOT the way to go. Orange county Segway called us back on the day of our Anniversary and said "Krystal" was coming on on her day off (Tuesday) and would take us and another couple on a tour. Uh-oh, I thought, now I can't back out! SO FREAKING FUN!!!! Even though 1 1/2 minutes after doing the tutorial and lessons, I pretty much did what they tell you never to do, I "aborted" my Segway, and then got ran over by it, then it jumped from the street onto the sidewalk, then finally jumped into a flower bed facing the opposite way that we were headed. ONLY ME hahahaha! Krystal told us to take a picture of where it landed because she never saw anything like it LOLOLOL! Krystal was GREAT. She is the quintessential-eternal Southern California surfer girl with many many other talents and trades. Laid back, chill, and candid. We loved her, and we will return due to her! After our experience, I'd have to say this is a great location. We saw dolphin, California Sea Lions and tons of schools of fish swimming in the clear turquoise waters near Balboa pier. She showed us all of the beautiful beach homes and the stories that surrounded them. She recommended a yummy Mexican food place a couple of doors down from the shop that was very good. Honestly, it was one of the best local anniversaries we've had! Sure, it only took me about a 1/2 hour and to really get comfortable on the Segway, but now I'm a pro, and have considered teaching the tour -- NOT! Try this, really, Y.O.L.O.!!!!! Yelp yourself!

Good times! They have a parking garage, no validation offered, but the majority of us just lyfted/ubered down for safety. Prior to the event, we were provided the waiver links to share with our team. Everyone had a change to review the waivers and sign prior. On the day of the event, they ask that everyone arrived 15 minute early, and they will be checking IDs to confirm the names of the waivers signed. We had Lily as the deckhand who was helping us for the day. After we were all checked in, we were lead into their docks and boarded the board, where we met Captain Joe. Captain Joe started off with a safety speech, and from there we were ready to party. Keep the boat fairly balanced, don't all run to one side, not too many people at the front all at once, the front is on the opposite end as the Captain. There were 10 pedaling seats and an area in the front. There was one broken pedal. This boat has a motor so the pedaling is optional but it's for funsies. One of the pedal seats were broken and not in operations. Also these bike like seats were not very comfortable. After the first hour folks got off and stood around, but they were over-it with the bike chairs. Good for groups of 12-16, but if we had a smaller group I would have prefered the standard size duffy boats. It was hard to mingle since you were essentially stuck in the seat and spread pretty far out from everyone. Still a fun time, but I just had better. Also remember to Tip. They have their venmo information up, or afterwards they send you an email asking you how your experience went, and there is an option to tip after that fact if you were unable to on the day of the event.

However, in my experience, the area receives a lot of fishing pressure, and the catch is often limited to smaller fish. I originally purchased two trips through a Groupon to try out the fishery. On my first trip, we only caught very small whitefish and sculpin. If the size limit was still 10", we would have maybe had 20 keepers. If anyone had larger than a 1lb sculpin or 2lb whitefish, I would be surprised. Jackpot was a sheepshead. Unfortunately, I missed my second trip in June and later contacted the landing about redeeming it, especially since the yellowtail bite is strong right now. I was surprised to learn that I would need to pay a $55 rescheduling fee, despite already paying more than $100 for the trip, even with the Groupon discount. For regular or experienced anglers, I would not recommend this option. Parking in the area can exceed $40, although the landing mentions there are less expensive lots nearby. My credentials are not important, but I fish frequently and have considerable experience. Based on that experience, I did not find this trip to be a good value.
