I had a rather nice experience here at Amore but my wife did not have such a great one. For myself, I was able to get fitted for a tux and have it ready for my wedding with a pretty good turn around. My wife purchased a dress in California before we moved to the Midwest and was having her alterations done here. My wife speaks up for herself about what she wants and everything seemed to be going well. The issue my wife had was that the person who was making the alterations decided to go against what my wife wanted and instead did what they wanted to do as it would be easier for her. Well, easier for her resulted in my wife's dress nearly being altered in an irreversible way. My wife had to fly back out to California and have her dress fixed by her go-to dress maker who also struggled to fix the mistake that was done at Amore. If I need another suit or tuxedo, I will return here but I do not believe my wife will entertain the thought of going here to have any alterations done. read more

She asked questions to get a feel for what I was wanting and was conscious of my price range. The only hiccups I had with Amore was my experience with one of their alterationists. I am not the type to write reviews, but after what I have experienced at this shop I have to!!! As a plus size woman, trying on dresses can be a challenge considering most designers send sample sizes to shops that carry their dresses. I called around to multiple stores and very few carried any bridesmaids dresses about a 12. When I called amore they said that they had a few plus sizes that could be tried on. When we arrived to try on dresses there was not a single dress in that designer above a 16. This of course made deciding which dress to purchase more difficult, especially when you are paying $200+ for a dress. I was measured in my bust, waist and hips to find out what size I would need to order. When we referenced the size chart, it came out that my bust was bigger than the largest size dress available. I never in my life, have ordered a size 28 in anything. Now, with that being said, I understand that dresses tend to run small. No big deal. The woman then tells me that I will need to order an extra yard of fabric which when the dress is altered can be added to make the top bigger to fit my bust. A yard of fabric runs for $50 a yard. The dress itself was $220. She then tells me that they charge extra per size after a size 22. Once everything is all said and done, my total comes out to $341, for a dress that I have no idea what it will look like on, nor how it will fit. Not to mention during all of this, the woman that was helping us was very, very pushy and quite rude. Fast forward 2 1/2 months later. The bride gets a call that our dresses are in. I am thinking great, I will finally be able to see what this will look like on and figure out how much it will need to be altered. I go pick up the dress, the extra fabric and pay the balance that is left. I get home, put the dress on and to my surprise.... IT ZIPS! AND there is a ton of room in the bust, along with everywhere else. Here I am with a dress that is now way to big, a yard of extra fabric that I do not need, and I start questioning the measurements, the size that was ordered, and why I paid the extra money when I obviously did not need to. I thought that I would just call Amore and explain what is going on, surely they would understand. After this I took measurements myself at home, to find out that according to the size chart I did not need a size 28, but a size 18, maybe 20 if we were being generous. I called Amore today, and first spoke to a young lady. She was very concerned and said that unfortunately she could not do anything and that she would get me with someone that could help. Another woman comes on the phone, I explain to her the situation and according to her "these things to happen and that there is an ease in all dresses that is around half an inch which could explain why it fits" I told her that "no mam, it is not just a little loose, it is way too big." She claimed that all dresses size different and that basically you order a size while you are "backed into a corner hoping that it fits". If that is the case, why even take measurements? If all of the dresses are sized differently why have a size chart? She then tells me that they cannot take back the extra fabric because the designer does not take it back. She claimed that all dresses are dyed together and that if they took this fabric back it would not match any other dresses of that color. Which, I am sorry, but come on... Seriously? After what turned out to be a pointless conversation about the sizing of the dress, I then mention the extra charged and the money that I am out. So not only am I out the $50, but I am also out the extra money charged for it being over a size 22, and I am going to have to pay the extra money to have it altered to where I need it to be. She did not seem like she cared, nor that she wanted to make the situation right. Her words were "these things happen". I am very, very upset with how this was handled from start to end. All I can say is check your measurements if you do decide to go here and think twice before ordering. read more

Awful experience. Was not greeted when I arrived & finally had to go find someone to tell them I had an appointment. Was then told everyone was busy, but they would find someone to help me. Then told my wedding was too close, they couldn't get any bridal gowns in quick enough (yet other places, this was not an issue). Finally my friends & family started helping me find gowns & we found a room for me to try them on in. Someone eventually came to help hand me gowns, but I had to put them on & off myself. Once we had finished, the consultant disappeared, she didn't offer to write down any styles I liked or anything. We just walked out. Even if I had found my gown here, I would not give this place my money. Such a waste of my time. read more

Well, I now must update my original review! As you can see below, we had exceptional service when my friend was looking for her wedding dress...we even picked out our bridesmaids dresses at that point & got measured. WELL, when my friend decided to go elsewhere for her dress (Amore was out of her budget), the service went down hill FAST!! The maid-of-honor and I went to get our dresses altered after they came in. Mine was too small b/c my measurement were taken wrong. It took THREE girls to zip my dress. They told me I'd be "fine" and if I just "drank water and walked" until the wedding my dress would fit! (it was tight around my ribs). THEN, i was told "I didn't say you were fat!" uh, thanks?! Jennifer who originally helped up pretended she didn't know who we were. ALSO, my friend ordered additional fabric to make straps for her 12 year old daughter (the dresses were strapless) and we found out they CAME with straps!!!! So she spent unnecessary money on fabric! Her daughter's dress didn't fit AFTER alterations. When I took her back I asked to speak with the manager. I told her about ALL of the issues we had. She NEVER apologized. Just said the alteration gal shouldn't have said that - DUH! I could not wait to be done with that place. I will not recommend them to ANYONE! A simple "I'm sorry" would have made a world of difference! Original review: Jennifer at Amore is fabulous!! I went in with a friend on Saturday to look for her wedding dress. Jennifer was simply amazing! She was friendly & attentive. She answered all the questions my friend had and was very personable. BEWARE OF AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT AMORE'S BRIDAL!!!!! The store is beautiful, but the service was awful. I came in to try some wedding gowns on, and when I walked in, no one greeted me (in fact, no one was there in the front rooms) for about 10 awkward minutes. Finally, someone came out since it was well into my appointment time for trying on gowns, and didn't really ask me what I liked or was looking at. I had to just start telling her the things I wanted (dropped waist, etc). Then, she told me to pull my own dresses...kind of odd since most bridal salons pull them for you because their staff knows the inventory better. She did pull a few dresses, but never once did she ask me my price range. Because of that, she pulled really ugly dresses that I wouldn't even try on because everything about it was wrong, and dresses that were twice over my budget. She had me get into the first dress by myself (she did help me into the others), and when I found the dress I loved (which was the one that was twice my budget...which she never should have pulled because good bridal salons ask you a budget first and stick to it), I asked if there was any kind of discount for buying a dress on the day I had my first appointment (every other nice bridal salon in KC offered this to me) or if I could buy the sample gown since I loved it so much but it was so much out of my price range. The owner of the store was within earshot, and watching all of this, and pretended not to hear those questions (although, she heard my other ones about a veil, etc...) and I had to ask 5 times if there was anything I could do and the girl helping me (and the owner) kept ignoring my question. I don't mind being told no...but I would have liked an answer, who ignores questions they don't like??? Just say no! I went through my entire appointment without anyone ever asking me my budget. Happily though, I did fall in love with the dress that was twice my budget and I was NOT going to let Amore sell me the dress for the horrible service I received. I found that Ida's bridal salon in OP sells the same line, so I went there and the service was over the top amazing at Ida's. I happily purchased the SAME gown at Ida's, AND they gave me a 10% discount for buying the first time I went there. :) My experience with Amore was that the sales floor and salon is pretty, but service is beyond awful and the people and manager are weird. My recommendation is go to Ida's, or Gown Gallery (I LOVED the service I got at both of those places), but do NOT buy or go to Amore unless you love horrible service. I got my wedding dress from here. The service was ok but not friendly. After spending thousands of dollars here they talked about me behind my back. I only found this out because they happen to talk about it around one of my friends. The alterations lady also didn't seem to want my service. When I had my alterations appointment she was late, then got discouraged with me because I had many changes I wanted to my dress. She also was upset that the appointment took an hour (which you never know how long an alteration can take). Finally, while trying on my dress one employee whipped open my door (I was naked inside the dressing room) I said "oh sorry I'm not ready" she replies "oh that's ok I see this all the time" but what I was upset about is that she leaves the door open for all the people in the lobby to see me!!!! Amore Bridal did the bridesmaid and day of helper dresses for our August 11, 2012 wedding. The colors were turquoise and red and I was having a difficult time finding cute, affordable dresses to match the shades I was looking for. I finally ended up here and thankfully there was a selection to choose from! I had a total of 9 girls in my bridal party and I wanted them all in different dresses which was an undertaking, but Heather was very helpful during the process and they all found dresses they liked. Unfortunately a lot of the more affordable dresses were not in the store to try on and most of the girls didn't feel comfortable ordering a dress they couldn't try on. I also had a size issue with one of the bridesmaid dresses that we were thankfully able to take care of, but to this day I'm still not sure what exactly happened because I didn't have time to fully look into it. read more

We made an appointment(my mother and I) because she had heard from my cousin and a work friend that this place to go. They both bought their dresses there and said they were high quality and the people there were great. So at my appointment my grandmother, my mother and my sister were there. It was my first experience trying on wedding dresses, so it was a very special to my family and I. We walk into the beautiful store and are greeted by two smiling ladies. One of the ladies stated my name is Kellie and I will be working with you. She started asking me questions about what I wanted and the wedding. One of the questions, a vital question, what's your budget? I said around $200 to $400 dollars, and I thought I saw her jaw hit the floor! So she said okay I have just what your looking for, and lead us to beautiful dresses in my price range. She said they just reduced the price by 50 percent a couple days ago! So my family and I pick out 6 to 10 dresses all around 400 or less and began the trying on process. During the trying on process Kellie is very respectful, knowledgable and fun! The first dress I try on I fall in love with ( and so did my grandmother!). I did try on all the dresses we picked out just to narrow down what I wanted exactly. Then we retry on 'the dress' and put on a veil and earrings. So then we all sat there looking at me in the dress and talking about it for awhile. Amore allowed us to take pictures of all the dresses and Kellie very patient and made my experience memorable. I'm at my largest size that I have ever been in my life, so it's not a characteristic I'm super proud of. But Kellie and I just laughed and had a great time even when the dresses were snug and somewhat difficult to get on. We were there for about 2 hours and i will never forget this experience! Especially because of Kellie's wonderful demeanor and knowledge. Thank you so much Kellie! I went back the next day with my mother, my mother in law, her sister and her daughter to try on 'the dress' again. And everyone loved it just as much as I did. Kellie said she was so happy I came back because the dress looked beautiful on me! She even said she had a dream the night before, amore sold the dress to someone else and that she was so worried on her way to our appointment! We bought the dress at the second appointment for $365.00!!!! The dress is beautiful, great quality and exactly what I wanted! I will recommend anyone to go to amore! I really wish i had looked at the reviews for this business before allowing myself and my fellow bridesmaids to purchase dresses from here. The service was terrible and NONE of our dresses fit. Including the 9 year old junior bridesmaid who was told she must have gained weight. There's no way a 9 year old gained 5 inches around her already petite frame in 2 months people! I ordered a dress 1 size up from their suggestion for fear that i would be newly pregnant by the time the wedding rolled around. Thank God i did because it was skin tight and i ended up having to lose 8 pounds to squeeze in! Save yourselves the hassle. DO NOT buy from here. you will regret it! I went into Amore Bridal at 4 oclock on a Saturday afternoon. The store closes at 5. When I walked in there was not one single customer in the store. The sales girl greeted me and asked me what I needed. I told them I wanted to look at dresses. She then asked me if I wanted to make an appointment for another day. i said "No, I wanted to look around now". She told me to feel free to look around. I said "Well, what if If I find a dress I like and want to try it on?" She said I would have to make an appointment for another day. I told them to just forget it and I walked out. The whole deal was they didnt want to bother with me because they were getting off work in an hour and they could have cared less that I walked out. This is the worst customer service a bridal store could ever have. I'm glad I left because I found the perfect dress at David's Bridal and their customer service was AMAZING! I am so disappointed with how Amore bridal & tuxedo in independence runs their business. We bought 7 bridesmaid dresses from them and it turned out to be a complete nightmare. We were told that the dresses would come in on time by the owner herself only to receive a call saying that we would have to pay for rush delivery. It took lots of phone calls and visits for them to agree that they made a mistake. Second they do not know their designers after getting sized by them one of the girls dress was to small by 5 inches. When we went in to talk to them they said that they are not responsible. Then who is???? We made so many wasted trips because of their mistakes also because the store hrs change on a daily basis. They were rude and unprofessional!!! We have never been so disappointed with a business as we have been with Amore! Amore hopefully you can fix some of the wrong that you did! Unprofessional!! I understand mistakes happen but to not apologize for them is inexcusable. I was understanding when I had to wait an hr. to pay for my dress because they had a new employee that could not figure the stuff out even tho I wanted to make it to Costco before they closed. The problem was that they had others standing around that could have came up and helped but did not. 1. They said the dress would come in on time then they call to say that there would be a charge for rush delivery, would have been fine except for the fact that I asked several times if they would come in on time and was reassured. I would have just went somewhere else but by the time I was notified it was to late to go look somewhere else. Received no apology. 2. They do not know how to size. I felt like the first time I was sized wrong so when I went in I asked to be resized the lady that sized me the second time told me I was a 4. First time around I was told I was an 8. This was done a week apart. When I let the her know that I was sized at an 8. She did not say anything to reassure me. So I politely asked if they could reorder it in a 4. She said no and that I had signed a contract saying that they are not responsible. All they would have had to do was call the manufacturer and change it but they did not offer. The dress came in and it was big by 1 1/2 inches. I guess I should be happy it was not small. Or I would not have had a dress. Basically even if you are the most understanding person you will lose your mind dealing with these people. They will lie and not take responsibility for mistake that they make.
