Stumbled upon this spot while getting off the Underground on the way to Portobello Road. It is…read moreacross the street from the Prince Albert Pub which is really what my attention was on. In fact, I would have missed Amorino except for others in my group were not amused by a Pub with a namesake associated with a sensitive body piercing. Plus, they are gelato fanatics so this place pulled them in like a moth to flame. It is a clean, well-run shop with plenty of flavors available. The display case was quite appealing, especially the written descriptions of the flavors. There is always at least 1 lactose free option as well (on the day we were there, it was Chocolate Sorbetto) and they are very hip to give you test samples before you make a decision which is a very friendly touch in favor of the customer. While this might seem to be the norm, this shop is also in a high tourist-traffic area and I would imagine that putting up with idiots on vacation all day long might get old pretty quick. Nevertheless, they seemed very welcoming and happy to serve us which is always nice to experience as a consumer. I did not sample the goods since I was wasting my calories this trip on pub suds instead of gelato. But those in my group that did partake are somewhat authoritarian experts in the craft of frozen, dairy-based desserts. And they proclaimed it to be on par with typical European style gelato. Nothing more and nothing less and it scratched the itch of a palate in need of a gelato fix. It was not cheap but nothing in the UK is. If you are in the area and in the mood, I think you can't go wrong with a stop at Amorino for a taste of good-quality gelato.

The Paul near the hotel where I stayed is one of these places. I haven't changed. I loved a bakery then and I still seek out one when I'm travelling. I loved visiting this cafe. My hotel stay didn't include breakfast. Frankly, there wasn't a place to have some at the hotel itself. Instead, I bought breakfast items to my room to enjoy. I went to this cafe and got these items: - Pain au chocolat - Quiche lorraine - Red velvet macaron I paid with a credit card. I remember staff being super friendly and nice. I got my items in a couple of branded paper bags. I brought them to my hotel room to devour. The pain au chocolat was delicious. It was flaky and the dark chocolate was there in every bite. The quiche lorraine was enjoyable. It had the perfect ratio of eggs to cheese, bacon, and onions. The crust was yummy and held everything together. Both items tasted fresh. They were warm when I ate them at my hotel room. I went back to get a red velvet macaron. It felt fancy having it in its own box. It was divine! I'm glad that this cafe still exists. It's awesome. If you find yourself in Kensington and are craving a little somethin' sweet, you should DEF hit up Lola's and indulge. Their kiosk is located right next to the Kensington Tube Station entrance. Ironically, I was actually still lightweight full from the dinner that I had just eaten, but I couldn't resist taking a couple of these babies with me to-go for later. For a kiosk, their selection was screaming with variety! Because we ALL know; the more choices, the merrier. Also, the harder the decision (well, for me at least). I love that they have both mini and regular sizes because sometimes you just wanna nibble. I stuck with the minis since I was still full from dinner. And how ADORABLE are these thangs?! I stan a creative cupcake, mmkay boo boo?! They've got tiger, lion, and panda designed cupcakes and unique flavors like tiramisu, rocky road, and sherbet fizz. Of course, you can't forget the classic favorites! Yep, they have those too. They also have a nice variety of vegan flavors on the menu too. Lots of flavors to choose from ladies and gents! I had their cookies n' cream and a carrot cake minis. Both were absolutely scrumptious! Super moist and flavorful. I loved that the cookies n' cream one was creatively topped with Oreo cookies. But, that carrot cake though! Woo babyyyy. This one was my fave. It was literally over there tastin' just like a yummy carrot cake. After I ate them, I was kind of upset that I didn't get more. Let me tell you though: they were so, SO satisfying. I kind of wish that something like this was near my local train station. But then again, I'd probably end up blowing up like a ballon from eating it too often.
