As a wedding photographer (Cavin Elizabeth), I've known Heather for several years. Before I even got engaged, I knew she was the only person I would want to hire to design our wedding. She was one of the first vendors we booked and although she was over our budget, we had to make it work. Since we booked partial planning and design, her team started working 2 months out from the wedding to help with designs and logistics. They did help with our save the date and invites a little earlier to make sure they would be cohesive with our wedding day elements. Heather and her team are exceptionally skilled at creating incredibly unique designs that show the couple's story and personalities. We weren't sure what she would come up with for us and she surprised up by choosing a theme of smoothie making which harkened back to part of our story when we first met. Heather suggested hiring Jamba Juice to go along with our cocktails at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar and it was such a huge hit! Guests were in awe of the designs and how fun and colorful the tables were. We couldn't be more thrilled with how the look of the day turned out. Look, I get it. You're reading strangers' reviews to figure out which stranger to trust with your big day. Maybe you're not even sure about whether or not to hire one. Obviously, there's no universal answer, but my wife and I are so glad we went with Heather and her team. The truth is, there's a shit ton of really great wedding planners out there and chances are you'll like yours because you're about to drop a shit ton of money to marry the love of your life and it's pretty tough to fuck up a wedding. Also, unless you've been married multiple times, it's tough to "compare" wedding planners. Anyway, here's just some of the reasons we loved working with Heather. We really can't envision a scenario where you end up with a bad experience from Amorology. - We had a 2+ year engagement and over 1,000 e-mails. They were always patient with us, whether we were scrutinizing every contract (in the beginning) or when shit got really busy and we stopped responding to e-mails (in the end). Even though we live in Irvine, the distance wasn't really an issue. - They were also respectful of our budget and in many instances were able to help us save money IE by splitting rental costs with another wedding that weekend. More importantly, they knew where to spend. Our wedding honestly looked much nicer than our budget. It certainly wasn't cheap, and there were things where I wasn't sure was worth the cost, but those actually ended up being some of our favorite elements (IE the lounge area & the backdrop) - Heather has an amazing eye for design. We wanted a wedding that was uniquely us, and Heather and her team really delivered something that was elegant and beautiful, but still geeky and uniquely us. For example, I was afraid the Pacman themed cake would turn out tacky ("I don't want the wedding to feel like a 8-year old's bday party") but of course it turned out perfectly. She's got amazing ideas and the design meeting is a blast. - Relax, she's like 4 steps ahead of you. We couldn't find our special coasters. We looked everywhere the next day. Amorology already packed it up for us. It was in a box with all the essentials. It's a small thing, but it's reflective of the care and attention to detail they put into making sure your day is memorable for all the right reasons. read more

Ohhhh my gosh, where to begin. I could cry (and I have!) thinking about how Heather and her team of amazing ladies helped me so incredibly much during my wedding planning process. Let me try and express how exceptional my experience was with Amorology Weddings. So initially, I didn't think I would even need a wedding planner and I figured I could just stay on top of everything myself. This couldn't be further from the truth. Amorology was recommended to me by my wedding photographer, Cavin Elizabeth Photography, (also incredible, 10/10 would recommend) because she felt that having a day-of coordinator, at minimum, was vital. I ended up hiring Amorology for month-of coordination and was super satisfied with their involvement and communication with me that was included in that package. THEN-- COVID-19 hit. All of a sudden, I was planning a wedding that was going to take place during a global pandemic. As we were coming up on the final month before the wedding, everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. My reception venue canceled on me two weeks before the wedding and then the California governor closed all churches soon after that, to name a few things. Through the whole ordeal, Heather and her team never let me down. I upgraded my contract with them to design and planning (which I should have done from the very beginning), and within TWO WEEKS we planned an entire reception in my family's backyard. Yes, you read that right. Two weeks. I'm talking about every dinnerware rental imaginable, tables, chairs, linens, chandeliers, multiple bars, etc. Not to mention the countless vendors that needed an update on the changed details. I was probably checking my email every 5 minutes for new updates. And throughout all of that, Heather still found the time to call me and check on my spirits and mental wellbeing. She is the loveliest lady EVER. My wedding ended up being the most beautiful and personal event ever. It was like 100x better than it would have been if my plans hadn't changed. The design was impeccable. Every detail was perfection and I felt more than comfortable putting Heather squarely in charge. My husband and I are so beyond grateful to have had the chance to work with Heather and her team. They are truly the best wedding planning team there is. Not only did our day far exceed any of our wildest hopes and dreams, but Heather and her team made the entire wedding process so much fun. Hats off to Amorology & Heather's team! We found Heather thru a referral. What a blessing this team is. We had a vision and a "feel" for what we wanted and Heather brought that vision to life. Our wedding was at Estancia in La Jolla, CA - what they did to transform the space was just spectacular. Amorology uses "Google Docs" for a good part of the initial process of picking out photographers, flowers, etc - what a help that was. It was such an easy way to navigate thru the steps of getting ready for a wedding. Also in "Google Docs" they created a working "Budget". This was amazing ... you could see at any given moment what you had committed to and what else needs to be paid for. Enough about their computer savvy ways - what really counts is what they do ... and they do an amazing job! We are so thankful that we used Amorology. Everyone we talked to said it was the best wedding they have ever been too ... we feel that our guests were "Wow-ed" by the entire evening. I cannot stress enough how amazingly helpful it was having Amorology on my side during the 1.5 years I planned my wedding. When I walked into the planning process in July 2011, I was 100% sure that I would not be using a planner. I thought I was pretty creative and I was willing to put the time into the details, so I didn't see the point. By September 2011, I was so stressed out by the whole ordeal that I decided to hire a planner. I dug into every wedding website imaginable and blindly pulled my favorite weddings from each site. I wound up with seven weddings total, and of those seven, FOUR were Amorology! I just had to call Heather and her team. After my (now) husband Tyler, and I met with Heather and Christy, we knew within seconds that they were the real deal. We filled out a fun little questionnaire and our theme was created from there - a mixture of our personalities that we could have never dreamed up ourselves. The amount of detail that Amorology put into each aspect of our wedding was unreal. Our guests were absolutely floored. Everyone knew from the invitations and little sneak peaks that our wedding would be an "experience" but not even I, as the bride who thought she knew every little thing that would be present, could have fathomed the magic that was our big day. Whenever I received advice on the wedding day from friends and family, 9/10 times it would be, "The day goes by so fast. Try to enjoy every minute," and I can honestly, 100% say that my day went by in slow motion with nothing to worry about whatsoever. Let me begin by saying I am hard to please. I had been dreaming of my wedding my entire life and had the high expectations that come with those dreams! When my now husband first proposed I scoured my favorite blogs looking for inspiration, what I found was Heather's amazing portfolio. I immediately called and that's the story of how my perfect wedding started! Amorology took care of everything from start to finish and Heather was so attentive even my "price conscious" husband was incredibly glad we had them as it got closer to the wedding. Heather even navigated some very "sensitive" situations with my family and friends on my behalf! With Heather's sense of design and attention to detail you can just trust that everything will be executed perfectly. If you use them you'll sleep easy throughout your engagement. I was adamant that while I was getting married at a hotel I did not want anything to feel as if you were at a cookie-cutter hotel wedding. I can assure you when the Amorology team was done our wedding was a far cry from a cookie-cutter packaged wedding! Several friends commented on how the design and attention to guest experience was made it the best wedding they'd ever attended. Heather and everyone on the Amorology team did their best to keep the budget in mind and keep me on track. I want to emphasize that while we did go above what I had initially set as my ideal budget this was my decision (along with my parents), not the influence of anyone on the team. Every mother dreams of her daughter's wedding, but I didn't dream that both of my daughters would marry within six months of each other! Heather was our wedding coordinator for both events, and she was fantastic. Our first daughter knew exactly what she wanted to do and Heather joined right in, augmenting her ideas and helping us right down to the last detail. It was a magnificent event and we all enjoyed it. So many Moms tell me that the wedding was great for their daughter but stressful and grueling for them. We all enjoyed the experience so much! Our second daughter had a different vision and I worried that perhaps Heather would not be able to do something really different, but I shouldn't have worried. The second celebration was completely unique, yet every bit as special and jaw-droppingly beautiful. In both cases Heather guided us past lots of potential problems and helped us make the right decisions. I kidded her that with the hours she put in she must have made about five dollars an hour. We look back on those two weddings (both featured in magazine articles, an additional thrill for the girls) as two of the highlights of our family life. We couldn't have done it without Heather, and we have recommended her to several people since. I have relied on Yelp reviews for several years but this is the first time I've ever written a review myself. I simply must express my gratitude and give as many stars as possible to Heather and the entire Amorology team. Honestly, I wish I could award many more than five stars because Heather went above and beyond in planning and executing a stunning charity event. Every single detail had the "Heather Signature Touch" and exceeded every expectation. I've attended several weddings planned by Heather and her team and I believe one of the things that sets Heather apart from others in her industry is her intimate involvement in every project. She seems to have an intuitive sense about her clients, creating events that are individualized, unique and frankly...spectacular. I wish I could've afforded paying for her to plan my wedding, I really do! I met heather and she is the sweetest thing ever and is very personal. Her office is in a home, so there's no pain in the ass parking to find elsewhere, and it's very intimate. I tried to negotiate even $100 less, but the price wouldn't budge. My husband and I live in NYC and got married in San Diego. For our wedding we needed someone we could not only trust so far away but could make our vision of our rustic, vintage, backyard CA style wedding a reality. Lisa and the Amorology team are the best! I was very hesitant to hire a "day of coordinator", but could not have been happier with my decision to hire Lisa. From the very first phone call all the way till days after the wedding, Lisa was in constant contact with me and available for advice. She helped with things she did not even need to help with contractually and offered recommendations for hair and makeup when I was in a bind. Lisa was always on top of everything. The craziest most beautiful wedding I'd ever been to was an event that Amorology did. Once my wife and I started planning our wedding it was a no brainer to work with them! What an amazing party! It was the party of my DREAMS because of Amorology. The bride (my daughtr) was completely thrilled with absolutely everything. She noticed and she expressed appreciation over and over. Seeing Troy's arch go up in the back yard was my first clue that this was going to be a great event. Can't believe how gorgeous it was with Tint and Timber flowers. WOWOWOW. It took my breath away! Then approaching the cocktail space - I have no idea how Heather made that bare-bones set up REALLY sing. It was lovely. And people are RAVING about the infamous CHEESE DISPLAY! "So luxe! We all charged right over to it". You really made it feel bounteous and gracious. I'm sorry it required so much discussion; but what you created was like nothing that venue had ever seen. And the reception space! The fabric-covered poles! The clean white stage! The escort table! The backdrop! The delight of the guests as they approached the escort table! I know I loved it! And I did see pictures being taken in front of it. The head table was just exquisite. My daughter was soooo happy with the natural, enchanted vibe of that reception centerpiece. The linen, the gold candles. mmHm. Heather knew just the right understated details to make it special. Those details totally brought it together in a subconscious way. (Not matchy, just organic). I love everything Heather talked me into. She was very respectful of our budgetary desires, but showed us things that could really polish up the edges. People commented on the seamless flow of everything. I thought it was really smooth, really natural. And I now know that is no accident. The bride and groom were so impressed with assistant Maggie. She gave them total confidence and assurance and you could see it on their faces! I was impressed with assistant Margo and the whole Amorology team in the weeks leading up to the event. Their experience, talent, and gracious way with us and with the guests was truly impressive. One friend paid me the ultimate compliment: She described the over-arching, completely palpable feeling of love that permeated the whole affair. Amorology let that all happen by not letting any of the mechanics of the evening stick out. It was perfection. I am as frugal as they come. It was a deep breath and big gulp as I ponied up for the whole idea of a wedding planner. The short review: Amorology is amazing! Hire them immediately! They will create the wedding of your dreams! The long review: I had the pleasure of first meeting Heather, Troy, and the Amorology team when I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's weddings. It was an Amorology wedding, and absolutely gorgeous with every detail unique to the bride, groom and their love story. Needless to say I was in love with their wedding. Fast forward a few years and I was engaged! At first I thought I could do it all and didn't need a wedding planner, and to be honest, I thought I could save some money by doing it myself. I then attended my sister's wedding, where my mom and I ended up being the "day of" coordinators, and it was chaos! I was running around setting up table decorations, making sure the caterer arrived, directing guests, finding their "first look" location, etc. Coming home from that wedding I started planning my own and quickly became very overwhelmed with finding vendors. How did I know I was not getting ripped off, how would I know if they would really show up, or do a good of job... and then I remembered that beautiful wedding from a few years earlier and immediately reached out to Amorology. I went for my initial consultation where we all had the opportunity to meet and get to know one another to ensure we'd want to work together. They are such a lovely team and we clicked right away, their services range from full-coordination to day-of and they have a very clear cost structure, and so I knew I had to hire them for my wedding. The planning process was almost as much fun as the wedding! Heather and her team are creative geniuses. They care so deeply about each couple and making each wedding unique to the couple. They are able to turn wedding staples, such as an escort table or ceremony arch, into beautiful and functional symbols of the couple and their love story. Throughout the year of planning it was so fun to see all of the incredibly personal and beautiful ideas they came up with for the wedding. They made sure to get to know us, how we fell in love, what we love, and used this information with every decision that was made. They are also super easy to work with, and very receptive to every idea that we suggested as well, and also very receptive if we ever did not like one of their ideas (which never happened since all of their ideas are incredible). Over the year of planning Amorology did not disappoint! They were available 24/7 and able to discuss all aspects of the wedding whenever I needed. At the time, I lived across the country so they worked with me over email and the phone, and helped consolidate any in-person appointments so that I could save money and not fly out for meetings. The entire process was incredibly organized which removed any stress or last-minute decision making. Heather is so good at her job, she remembered that I had mentioned I didn't really care for Lavender (the smell), a few days before the wedding she called me to say that our florist had seen gorgeous Lavender at the flower market and wanted to know if there was any opportunity for it at the wedding, of course I said "yes" - as long as it was not in my bouquet. The flowers were gorgeous. Along with being so organized, Heather and the team were incredibly conscientious about my budget, it was a very easy conversation, they helped me set up the budget based on my priorities and really maximize every dollar. The actual wedding was a dream, and everything went without a hitch! Heather and the Amorology team did an outstanding job of ensuring that my husband and I had the best day! It was truly amazing to see all of these thoughtful and unique details all come together to make our wedding extremely personal and full of love. We were blown away with how beautiful it was. All of our vendors were amazing to work with, and wonderful to have at our wedding. We still have family and friends coming up to us and telling us that our wedding was one of the most beautiful and fun weddings they had ever been to. I was actually sad that the wedding process was over, as I had developed such a great bond with Heather and her team, I was sad to say "goodbye". When it comes to weddings Heather Balliet and her team at Amorology know their stuff. No really, trust me, they're better than good. If there's even such a "Better Than Good" category well they're at the top of it. They own it when it comes to wedding styling, planning, coordinating, and just directors of all things pretty. I first met Heather a month after my now husband and I got engaged and all we had was the church and venue booked. I found out about her online from a wedding she had done before at our venue and immediately was fascinated by her attention to detail. Being a Type-A detail orientated person myself, I was drawn to someone who clearly cared about the little things as much as I do. So I booked the consultation with her and that was all it took. One meeting and we didn't want to meet anyone else. We wanted her to plan our big day and signed the contract two days later. Our engagement was about a year and a half and Heather and her team were by our sides the entire time. She labors over every decision that you have to make like it's her own and I cannot even begin to stress how important that is. You want someone on your side, who cares about your wedding as much as you do and Heather does that to infinity and beyond. We had so much craziness going on leading up to our wedding and she was that un-biased shoulder to lean on that we needed. She gives the best advice and is a very inspiring individual. Let's get this straight: she's not your average coordinator. She takes the time to get to know you and your partner. She asks all the important questions, she learns about your family, your style. She welcomes you into her home and her family like she's a long lost sister you never knew you had. And in the end all this hard work and love that she pours into your wedding day shows with the results she produces. It doesn't look like some typical wedding, it looks like one that was put on by an extremely talented and brilliant friend who's known you your whole life - because honestly that's what ends up happening, Heather becomes more than your coordinator, she becomes a really great friend who you can trust and rely on. I told her she's been added to our Christmas Card List for life now. For how controlling I can be when it comes to decorating, etc. I was amazed by how many times I would tell her "just do your thing, I trust you!" and boy am I so glad that I did. Our wedding was beautiful; beyond anything I could have ever imagined. One month later and our friends and family can't stop talking about our wedding. They go on and on about how amazing it was, how everything was so detailed and personal. That you could tell it was our wedding and just "so us". People who we work with who didn't attend have the same reaction just from the pictures. That, in my opinion, is the best compliment you could have given us. I wanted our guests to feel us and love on our day and Heather hit it out of the park - like if we were AT&T stadium the ball is in the water and someone just won some tacos. I am writing in response to Robert C.'s review. I have had the opportunity to work with Heather on several weddings, specifically, this wedding mentioned. I provided the glassware and napkins for Robert C's daughter and to date, have still not received final payment for glassware that was damaged during the wedding. I work very closely with Heather and the Amorology team. Every 5 star review here is completely reflective of how she runs her business. There are standards within the event industry in how we run our businesses. Behind the scenes there are more moving parts than one could realize. Any cost or fee associated in a general way or markup is simply to cover the time, materials and operational costs in making even the simplest adjustments in orders or invoices. I know for a fact how much attention to detail Heather and her team put in to every single wedding. This attention to detail isn't only in her designs, but in her overall client relationship. I don't doubt she treated Robert C. with the exact same respect. As one of her vendors, she is constantly conscious of pricing and her clients budgets. In fact, on this particular wedding, Heather and I worked together to stay within this budget and I even provided discounts to do so. As my husband and I approach our one year anniversary, we have been reflecting upon what a tremendous experience we had planning our wedding. We had the challenge of planning most of our big day from New Jersey while in law school, but that never seemed to be a challenge to Heather and team. They stayed in constant communication with us and all of our vendors so that, even as we approached our wedding day in the midst of finals and stressful summer internships, there wasn't a moment of worry in our planning. From helping us pick bridesmaid dresses and jewelry to dealing with a venue that was a challenge and a half to rescuing a melting cake and keeping me calm during the melt, there is no one else we would have rather had plan and execute our wedding. Christy and her assistant did a wonderful job at my wedding. Although my wedding party was small, and the guest list less than 80, I didn't realize how much I needed to have someone as organized and seasoned, like Christy, until the big day! We decided to go with Amorology because we instantly felt at ease with the whole team; they were professional, understood the vibe we were looking for, and were approachable and accommodating. I'm so glad we went with Christy because there were so many important pieces that needed to be accomplished the day of, and we completely trusted Christy to get it done. Heather, Troy, and the entire Amorology team were an absolute pleasure to work with! They truly made our day the most special weekend yet. Really. I still hear my friends talk about my wedding and it has almost been 6 months! Let me break down what makes them so awesome. 1) Most Creative and Stylish Team out There - I live in LA, I'm surrounded by beautiful things and fine taste. But, Heather and team have something else - a creative twist on everything that makes every detail of your wedding unique. *For Example - she and her team crafted a running theme for Wes and I based on getting to know us, our love for running, and how we met. The theme was sewn intricately into our day including thoughtful naming conventions for our dessert table (think 14K Carrot Cake!), the table cards were shoelaces assigned to numbers, and also included a custom installation built just for us "I run to you" where they DESIGNED (I mean, hello ETSY + Martha Stewart!) a handmade installation with 3D lettering and intertwined laces. Mind. Blown. 2) Delightful to Work With and 100% Fair. Heather and team were wonderful from day 1. I was a prototypical basket case asking hundreds of questions, stressing the details, and being a bit "needy". But, she answered EVERY question, she ALWAYS returned my emails, calls, and had action plans in place. I was never worried something wouldn't get done. And, it takes a special kind of person to deal with crazy brides and their families - and she does with such grace. She was firm, fair, and always willing to view alternative ideas. *For Example - We had to come up with a way to set-up a stage at my venue as the ceremony spot was a bit awkward shaped. She designed a stage with her rentals contacts, used gift cards she'd saved to give us a discount so we didn't completely blow our budgets. And, it turned our great! 3) The DAY OF was CALM, like Zen. I know there had to be big issues the day of, but I wasn't aware of them because Heather and team handled them like true wedding ninja's. *For example, my DJ was late and utterly unprepared (I caught some of that as he emailed me for my song list 2 hours prior to the ceremony). She found his number, contacted him, ran him through the details, and TOOK care of it. I literally just had to show up and get beautiful with my bridesmaids - the rest was taken care of and my wedding was honestly perfect. Heather and her team at Amorology planned our wedding in May. I seriously don't even know where to begin... I could write a novel on how amazing my experience was. Heather is one of the kindest, most thoughtful and creative human beings I've ever encountered. My husband and I were blown away by her every step of the way. She listened to what we wanted, bent over backwards to make our event specific and special to us in every detail.... and the woman LOVES details. She has such an incredible eye for design and her ideas and creativity are endless. Not only is Heather obviously a creative and design genius, but more than that, Heather is a friend. Sometimes with the stress of a wedding, things seem overwhelming. I think I wrote an email every week of my engagement telling the Amorology girls that I would be a complete mess without them and thanking them. It was the truth! I was told by so many people what a "mellow" bride I was... even the week of my wedding when San Diego was on fire and our homes (both mine and Heather's) were evacuated!!! My response to everyone pointing out my lack of stress was "well that's because I have the best wedding planner in the world." It was an easy process. Everything was so organized for me and every single one of the girls working for Heather was an absolute joy to work with. Amorology is the most amazing wedding planning company!!! They planned my wedding and honestly it was the most beautiful wedding. Heather, Troy, and their whole team were so amazing! They were on the ball and were fast to respond to any questions. Heather really listens to what you want and does everything to make it perfect for you. They helped with things that they didn't even have to help with, but because they love their clients and want the wedding to be amazing just as much as you do they are happy to help with anything that will make the wedding more perfect. After my wedding I felt like I had gained a group of new friends. Heather is such a sweetheart. She really makes you feel like your wedding is the most important thing to her. She has such fabulous ideas and creates wonderful themes. Everything at the wedding was perfect. There wasn't one thing that I would have changed. The wedding was more beautiful than I ever imagined my wedding being. With the help of the Amorology team the wedding was flawless. When I first got engaged, I was definitely one of those people who was convinced I did not need a wedding planner. My career is in scheduling (heavy organization/detail) and I share a pretty good eye for design with my mother who agreed to help me. But thank goodness I realized pretty quickly that organizing a wedding is a full time job I didn't have enough time for and I didn't know nearly as much about weddings as I thought. Heather and her team came in at the last moment, just 2 months before our wedding, to help my now husband and I salvage our wedding plans! We had planned a destination wedding nearly a year prior, and had to change our plans at the last moment, just two months out, to do a stateside wedding due to environmental factors that interfered with our initial plans. Distressed and desperate for help, I found Heather to be a voice of calm and reassurance that everything would be alright. She agreed to start working with us, even just 2 months out, to create a brand new wedding plan stateside! With all our unexpected changes, we even had to move our wedding date UP by a month, and we couldn't have pulled any of this off without Amorology. I basically emailed her daily with lengthy, confusing emails and changed my mind multiple times over the course of those 2 months - her and her team were intuitive, funny, thoughtful, and came to our aid with understanding, great suggestions, and an ease that gave us reassurance that our wedding would be exactly what we wanted - something that felt like "us": not too contrived, idiosyncratic, laid back but detail-oriented, and FUN. Heather had a way of sensing my off-beat, (and, I'd like to claim, fairly unpredictable) style and sent pictures of furniture, silverware, table settings, flowers, and other design pieces that were right up my alley. It was as if she lived in my mind for 2 months. I did not have to worry about a THING on the day of, as she and her team had every single base covered. It allowed me to enjoy our entire wedding, and I feel blessed that I think I am one of the only people in our circle of friends and family who had NO complaints about how the wedding went down on the day-of, and truly got to enjoy their wedding.
