As our coordinator, partial planner, and florist, Melissa helped us manage our timeline and expectations very well from the moment we hired her. Melissa was incredible - she helped us plan our reception at Seabird Resort and I truly feel like she went above and beyond- in logistics and emotional support! I booked her early and we initially just did a couple meetings to discuss our vision and needs regarding coordination, vendor contracts and florals since we did not need a full-planning service, only partial. She was always upfront and gave me honest opinions especially when it came to where to splurge and save, and what could look good and what wouldn't. The last 2 months is where she really shined, helping us follow up with vendors on details, setting deadlines for me to book rentals, reviewing contracts and constantly doing sanity checks when I needed it. I'll start off by saying Melissa is the crème de la crème of wedding planning/coordinating! Trust that you will be getting excellent customer service with her and the I Do Wedding events team, you will be in great hands with them! My now husband and I wanted someone experienced with our venue, Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla. Since Scripps Seaside comes as a blank venue, and they have a set list of vendors to work with, you can imagine how overwhelmed we were. Melissa's recommended vendor list greatly helped us narrow it down, and we felt at ease with her years of experience and working with said vendors on multiple occasions. Another thing that we valued about Melissa is that she is also a florist! I felt that choosing florals might've been the second most stressful thing of wedding planning. At first we wanted greenery throughout our reception but after our floral consultation, we reconsidered and we are so glad that we did! She brought my Pinterest dreams to life, the end result of our wedding with her floral touches is breathtakingly beautiful. It is definitely a relief to have someone well rounded like Melissa who I feel on top of being resourceful, really does it all. Our main form of communication was through email and she was always very efficient in responding. When we got closer to our wedding date, we had weekly meetings over google meet where she alleviated any anxieties that we had, whether that was meeting deadlines or booking any last minute vendors. Meeting her in person, we instantly clicked! She is an absolute gem. It's in her personality to be as cool as a cucumber and we are extremely grateful for that. I felt I would come to her with what I thought was the biggest problem in the world and her level headed response would immediately shut that down. We hired Melissa for our reception portion of the wedding but really wished we hired her for the ceremony as well. After our Catholic Church ceremony (about 15-20 minutes away from our venue) I felt the burden being lifted off my shoulders because I knew we would be well taken care of under Melissa's care. The day of the wedding there were last minute things that I forgot about, but Melissa's response would be "don't worry about it, I got this!" And of course she swiftly took care of whatever needed attending to. What a huge relief! Walking up to our reception we were greeted by Melissa and met her 2 of her sweetest assistants, Bella and Elena. One thing I forgot to mention is her attention to detail! We had our signature drinks waiting for us, which was such a stand out detail since we were a bit wound up from running all over the place earlier in the day. Another incident is that I accidentally spilled red wine on my wedding dress, I was mortified that I ruined it because we didn't make our grand entrance to the reception yet AND we still needed to take more pictures. Here comes Melissa and my saviors, Bella & Elena to the rescue! They took one look and said "pffffft, this is nothing", their reaction to my horrific mistake was extremely comforting as a *panicked* new bride. Melissa and her amazing team went above and beyond. Looking back at videos of our money dance, I noticed how quickly all/ if not each of them would adjust my *separate* veil where I was getting the money safety pinned to. Even when my husband and I were taking pictures on the beach, her team was on it and made sure everything looked ideal, especially with how windy and cold it was! Helping put my detachable sleeves on and off again (which was not a simple task because of the buttons) but because of how experienced Melissa is, she dressed me up back in seconds! I was ready to be back on the dance floor. I felt like I was in an award show by how quickly the wardrobe change was ;) Melissa and her mastery of wedding coordinating/planning is exemplary. She is highly professional, skillful with a bubbly and friendly personality, she knows exactly how to handle stressful situations, and most importantly she is efficient and communicative. When I say I can't imagine how any of our big day would have been possible without her - I absolutely mean it. Now, having had the PERFECT wedding day, I literally could not imagine our wedding without her. She communicated with all of our vendors, coordinated all of the set-up, and created a minute by minute timeline for the day of. Hiring Jill was the best thing we did for our wedding. Long: We hired Jill for the semi-full service. During our first conversation she got a full run down of what we wanted and gave us a checklist of things to do. After our conversation, she emailed us with notes from the call, highlighting what was a priority and what could wait. Jill stayed involved during every step of the planning process. My wife had a very specific vision of how she wanted certain things--the dance floor, drapery, silverware. With each detail, Jill would explain why it was or wasn't a good idea, and then show us what we needed to do to make the idea come to life. She was a straight shooter and shared her honest, professional opinion so that we would have all of the information available. In the rare case where we didn't take her advice, Jill respected our decision and didn't push anything on us that we didn't want to do. We decided to have her as our month of wedding coordinator, because we were able to find and book our other vendors ourselves. Having her as our month of coordinator truly helped us reign in on any missing pieces. She was able to help us with the following: overall wedding theme, walk through of our venue, helped us manage and coordinate outstanding items with our vendors, communicate any last minute details, wedding rehearsal, coordinate arrival/setup times for our vendors, she even bustled my dress, and most importantly, she helped us feel at east throughout our wedding day. We were extremely lucky to fall into the hands of Melissa Tuvey after being "ghosted" by our original wedding planner. Right off the bat she provided us with online tools to begin organizing our wedding priorities and details. She was able to provide and recommend so many amazing vendors to us during the early stages of planning. When we had in person meetings, she had such an attention to detail and would be typing up notes as we went and would email us all the links and notes we talked about to help keep everything in order. When we would go a few weeks without speaking she would check in on us or send any gentle reminders if we had any deadlines coming up. Melissa has a way of keeping you on track without overwhelming you. As the wedding day got closer Melissa was an absolute life saver for us. Not only did she take all our DIY decor off our hands she set up everything the day before the wedding for us. The morning of the wedding it dawned on me that I forgot to buy limes for the bar and Melissa handled it for me. She was even wonderful enough to decorate our cake with flowers for us!! Our wedding day had a forecast for rain, and she helped us get some blankets and plan out tents for the venue at the last minute. When it rains it pours... we had a huge family emergency, our Granny broke her leg a few days before the wedding and Melissa was able to help us plan a block of time to leave the reception to visit her at the hospital. She planned everything so well that none of our guest even realized we disappeared. Towards the end of the night, she started packing up all our stuff into designated cars. We really had nothing to worry about, we enjoyed the entire day and she handled everything for us. We hired Jill with less than 6 months until our planned date and she was the definition of professional from the very start. We had an AMAZING wedding this Memorial Day weekend! We hired Jill Hudgins from I do...Weddings & Events for their Semi-Full Service. She exceeded our expectations! We came to her with only a venue and a very weak vision. From the very start she was super friendly and supportive and pointed us in the right direction. Although my husband lived and worked in San Diego in the past this was very much a destination wedding for us. Since we live out of the area we really needed help on picking great vendors. Jill suggested some awesome vendors who also exceeded our expectations. They all helped create a great vision and made it all come together. From the first call I knew Melissa was going to be the best fit for us as we planned for this very special moment in our lives. She is extremely personable and actually took the time to get to know my fiancé and I as a couple. Most of my other wedding planning consultations were very transactional and I did not get that all from Melissa. Melissa is extremely responsive!! I appreciated it so much during what can be a hectic and crazy time. I emailed her multiple times a week/day and she always followed up with me in less than a day and offered to meet in person or hop on a call whenever I needed. I did not feel stressed at all on my wedding day or throughout the planning process because I knew Melissa would take care of things. It was also comforting knowing that she's made so many great relationships with other vendors in the area. From my venue, to my band, and photographer... all of them knew her by name when I mentioned she was my Wedding Planner and had nothing but great things to say about working with her. She also went out of her way to take care of any details or requests that came up last minute. For example the week of the wedding the venue asked us to note all the dietary restrictions on the menus - we had already printed the menus without this info and I was little stressed thinking through what we should do to note this info. Melissa just said "I got this!" and took care of it for me so I didn't have to take up any mental capacity thinking about it the week of the wedding. :) I am a very organized and detail oriented person and admittedly it took me some time to feel comfortable "handing over the reins" fully to Melissa but I'm so glad I did!! I had a ton of details from personal welcome cards for all our guests, to a complex photo wall, to very specific song changes/playlists... her and her team nailed it all and the whole day came together beyond my expectations. I wrote this up a month after our wedding (our wedding was in October), but just found time to post this now (life has been that busy which is why I'm so very grateful for Jill and her team!): It's been almost a month since the most magical and wonderful day of our lives and I finally have time to sit down and share the amazing reviews for our vendor team. Jill Hudgins from I Do... Weddings in San Diego was absolutely a joy to work with! I had been studying project management for about a year and was using my wedding as a sample project for me to plan, but my venue and all the bridal books (I bought a ton! Plus magazines!) said that even if you're planning the wedding on your own, you at least need a "day or month of" Coordinator so that you can just enjoy your day. That's exactly what we hired Jill for and she did not disappoint! I had scheduled a couple other coordinator calls prior to hiring her and it only took a few minutes after our initial phone call for me to decide to cancel the other appointments and hire Jill that day. All the bridal books say to ask your coordinator if they get vendor discounts and Jill's response was that she recommended vendors based on the quality of their work and not based on how big of a discount they could give and that totally resonated with me and my husband. Also the fact that the "month of" package included her looking over all contracts prior to the wedding was awesome because she was kinda like an extra set of eyes for us while we were planning the wedding and hiring vendors. Most of the vendors I found for the wedding were absolutely amazing! There literally was only one vendor that we had issues with and they were being provided through an agreement with our venue so we couldn't just switch them out, but Jill got on the phone with them 6 months prior to the wedding to try to help mediate between us and the vendor. I came up with a decent compromise and didn't really get the cake of my dreams, but it was concession to make for a great product and my dream wedding. Jill also took all my crazy mock-ups and notes and my abundance of DIY decor the day of the wedding and basically brought life to the crazy ideas I had spent a year and a half concocting. It was so nice on the day of my wedding to see all the vendors arrive as scheduled, and just enjoy getting dolled up with my bridesmaids while Jill and the vendors put everything together. She literally came to our dressing room at 11AM the day of the wedding, picked up about 20 boxes and went off. She checked in occasionally and was super helpful when we needed to get ahold of my husband for a check to pay one of the vendors.
