Went here for a tattoo on my forearm back in the summer of 2022. The artist who did my tattoo was friendly, talented, and detail oriented. I made my $50.00 deposit with my consultation. I don't know if this is still the requirement. My tattoo session did get pushed back another week because the artist was quiet busy so that was not too exciting, but I was understanding. After doing a bit of research, I decided to have Cuong do my artwork. He was very easy going and flexible to work with especially since I was coming from western Montgomery county. Cuong completed the entire job in 2 sessions over the course of 3.5 weeks. He was able to add a Pop of color that really makes it shine. Overall I am very disappointed. The lack of communication was very unprofessional. I took time off from work and drove an hour only to see the shop closed. There was no explanation. I completely lost trust in this place. What's Good: The shop itself is clean. The artist had decent lines. What Needs Improvement: Hands down the service needs to improve. They probably have lots of volume but need to be better organized. Communication and commitment to the client should be top priority. The art-to-price ratio is skewed. Due to the type of tattoo that I wanted (fine line), I chose Ethan Xu (@tattsbyethan_) because of his portfolio. He told me that everyone in the shop is knowledgable in multiple types of tattoos so whoever you choose is bound to give you good work! The other day, I had written a review about a Salon I use to go to. I also saw two other shops I wanted to check out too. A friend of mine named Jasmine A asked me if I was planning on getting a tattoo. No, but I have been thinking about having a tattoo removed. I saw the shop, but did not see any books of art work the tattoo artist did. This seem very unusual to me, but then I thought maybe they posted them online. I was correct on the online part. If this establishment has books of tattoo art work, I did not see them up front in the lobby area. There are three tattoo artists meantioned on the website and they are Cuong, mimi and Jasmin. Cuong happens to be famous like The Living Legend Larry Zbyszko. Okay, many of you may not know the name, but that's okay. Cuong is the boss of the establishment and he was the first name I saw on the website. Cuong specializes in custom artwork, detailed fine line pieces, and robust cover-up tattoos. This last specialty is one I am interested in. Mini does a variety of tattoos, piercing and permanent makeup. If this wasn't enough, Mimi knows a thing or two about hair styles too. Jasmin can do clean, sleek, and original artwork. If body piercings is your thing, guess what?!...Jasmin can do this as well. I ended up talking with Cuong and I found him to be cool dude. I will give this place some thought before I make up my mind on a possible tattoo decision. When I do make up my mind after doing more research on permanent make and tattoo removal, have a better idea on what I want. I might even get a tattoo here. read more

So glad I stumbled upon this shop in falls church. I used yelp to find a specialized artist in Polynesian/tribal and Cuong's name and shop came up in the results. Drove 40mins each session just to get tatted by him. I gave this man a handful of symbols and he came up with such a beautiful unique piece for me that incorporated my family's tribal symbols that are specific to their region in the Philippines. As a client for many years I would highly recommend Amour tattoo and all its artists to anyone looking to get a tattoo. Cuong and all his staff are always welcoming and friendly. The quality of the tattoos are unbelieveable. The line work is perfect. The most important thing to me is being able to text a picture or an idea I have for a tattoo over to Cuong and him get me into his shop basically as soon as I had time off work. The way he gets your idea or image into a stencil is amazing. Every time I just tell him what I'm thinking and he always draws the artwork perfect. I've looked and I can't find anything about my tattoos to criticize. The line work blows my mind. That's what sets Amour tattoo apart from other tattoo shops. The experience you get when you go in to get your tattoo. The rooms always have top of the line equipment i.e. tattoo chairs, furniture. The tattoo needles are always opened out of this little sterile packaging. Cuong will put on music that you like while your getting the tattoo. That is a huge help for my anxiety. My friend and I came here to get our tragus pierced. Jasmine took us in quickly after we filled in our forms and was able to see her prepare for the piercings. Jasmine was very professional and nice! During the piercing she kept asking if everything was ok and made sure we were alright. You don't get to pick the type of jewelry I think as we weren't asked if we wanted to choose or anything. What happens when you find a dope tattoo artist, followed them for 8 years on social media, saw his work at a previous shop in Falls Church, Va you schedule a consultation. During his initial outreach I felt calm... we discussed what type of tattoo I wanted, placement, and scheduled an appointment for the following week. Well guess what happens?!?! After driving for 2 hours in traffic for a "scheduled"consultation he was a NO SHOW! Can yawl believe it? I couldn't so here is my experience, also read my status updates at the end. This review is strictly for a lack of follow-up and customer service not on the QUALITY OF WORK! I'm actually proud of myself right now, I gave myself two months before I wrote this review but since I never received an apology, follow-up nada from the shop?!?! Why not share with my fellow yelpers. After scheduling my appointment with Chung/Chang (the owner) I arrived @1pm and he wasn't there.. Rightfully frustrated, I said I drove 2 hours in traffic! The woman calls him and he advises her to tell me to come back after 4 or I can schedule my consult with another artist, he will be gone for most of the day as he's opening another shop and has to file for a new business permit. Kudos on growing your business but WTF?!?! If I wanted another artist I would have "stalked another artist" for the past 8 years... I said are you serious? She says yep it's nothing I can do. Just screw my entire Thursday and GAS out the window...Rightfully pissed. I left and drove 2.5 hours back home in traffic!!!! I waited for a few months before posting here to give this shop the benefit of the doubt.. but nope I'm still pissed so let me once again offer my advice. Adhere to your customers especially those individuals who admire your work. Like you, We are busy, I scheduled time out my busy day for this appointment. if you are busy simply Follow-up with the individual and reschedule. #customerservice101 I WONT discredit his work as an artist, my suggestion for patrons is follow-up to ensure the artist will be there. I hope your experience is better than mine. UPDATE::::::::::::: June 18th So 24 hours after posting this review, I received an "impulse follow-up response" which was filled with inaccuracies from the shops GF/Wife Mimi?!?? Aka a "Defending her man response" (See her response below, which I approved to post here :) ) When posting a ONE RATING I expect a response from a PR team or social media manager to try to have a dialogue and I always update my review to convey managers response (See my other reviews) but hers was exactly what I have been saying about this establishment---POOR/CONFUSED customer service. Versus going down her inaccuracies in her response (again see below) , you can just compare my experience with her lies, it's funny because she wasn't even there at the end of the month of March, which also confirms that this is a reoccurring with other people who just want a tattoo.. ( again if you go here just call to confirm) I did not and will not critique his work, I WAS a fan, I think he's the dopest fine line artist in the DMV, but what would kill his success and others in the shop is customer service. I'm sure this will go over your head, but you are part of the problem. So... Dear Mimi here is my polite customer service recommendation: Get your facts straight when responding to posts--especially when a customer can attach screenshots of appointment confirmations, GPS timestamp travel, Gas receipts from the local Wawa's and a picture of my ATT phone bill when he called to confirm my appointment, the week prior. It's always good to get your facts straight before you address a "former" customer because I have all of these available as digital imprints are the devil. While defending your man, understand that you are in business, your response was like a mad girlfriend versus that of a business owner. I've wanted my second tattoo for a few months and did a lot of research on who I wanted to go to, and different artists in the area and what type of tattoos they provide and art style. I wanted attention to detail, and solid line work, both are things Cuong specializes in. Cuong and Mimi run a great shop. I really liked the decorations they had dressed up in the Halloween spirit, that was really cool that they wanted to make the store fun and enjoyable. It looked very clean too. Everybody who worked there was super nice and friendly. Cuong is very knowledgeable in his field which I feel is something that truly is valuable in the world of tattooing. Very patient, and willing to answer any questions he was given and offer any suggestions from an artist's point of view. The same with Mimi. She initially suggested the Roman numerals I wanted on my arm to be a little bigger because my arm is a little smaller, so it would pop more. I went that route and it looks really great. I am a first-gen Filipina and it mattered to me to have an Asian-Pacific Islander tattoo artist. I googled and I found Amour Tattoo and Cuong. Cuong is one of the most incredible artists I've ever met. He is deeply attentive and will really listen to what you are looking for. He also has brilliant ideas on how to make the piece you want to look even more beautiful than you may have originally thought. I am going to Cuong for several pieces because I love his style of work. He just did a lotus flower with two colors "splashed" in a watercolor type of design which I am obsessed with!! He will also work on a traditional and modern tribal Filipinx tattoo band around my thigh next month. To say I'm looking forward to that is an understatement. His ability to take the time with you and do a consult is really considerate and I appreciated that a lot. He is really patient and unbelievably gifted, check out his IG @Cuong_Tatt. I also learned there are other BIPOC tattoo artists in the space which again is something that is important to me, representation matters. I also got my ear pierced by the beautiful and talented Jasmin!! This girl is a double threat, she inks AND pierces. I love how she was honest about my earring placement when I told her what I wanted and suggested a different location on my ear instead. I appreciate her experience and her honesty so that I didn't get something that might've hurt me or not look as nice in the long run. The building isn't what you expect in a good way, it has a lot of parking so you don't have to stress over that.
