Hot damn, that was an awesome party. My wife and I worked with Joe and Ken from Amp Event Professionals to celebrate our wedding reception in early September 2021. They were highly responsive, professional, and easy to work with throughout the planning process. Additional to the emailing, Joe & Ken video-called us one week prior to our event to review the reception timetable, song requests, and venue details. Months prior to our event, Joe and Ken provided us access to their client portal. This portal allowed us to add the reception timetable, the names of our wedding party, songs for our grand entrance, the first dance song, the last song of the night, and other must-play songs. Joe hit every song we requested that night, including the Filipino line dance song in Tagalog. The dance floor was never stagnant or empty. All generations had the best time on the floor. If you have Spotify, then building a custom playlist for the night is easy to transfer over to the client portal in two mouse clicks. Speaking of the grand entrance, since my wife and I had a small ceremony last year with our immediate families only, we worked with Ken to customize our grand entrance to include a video of our ceremony highlights projected onto a curtain. We wanted our extended families and friends that were not able to witness last year's ceremony to watch our special moment as if they were there, too. Ken was able to edit our highlight video to 2-3 minutes. Once the pronouncement occurred in the video (I now pronounce you... you may now kiss the bride), my wife and I burst through the curtains like a high school football team at homecoming with our banger entrance song. The grand entrance was GRAND AF and our guests were hyped. We were told by numerous family members and friends that it was the best entrance they have ever seen - the projector image was clear from 100 feet away, the song was fun, and the timing was perfect. Also, our family and friends loved the Walking Photo Booth. Typically, my wife and I would wait in long lines at other weddings for the photo booth. This time around Mike from Amp Event Professionals had a handheld ring light photo booth that walked up to us. He was able to capture all the guests throughout the evening in their most spirited moments - into photos and GIFs! Super cool tech, super worth the add-on cost. We made sure to clear this Walking Photo Booth with our photographer since we were basically doubling our photo amount. My only suggestion when working with Joe and Ken is that you should hydrate a lot leading up to the celebration because both my quads cramped up hard that night from dancing so much. Seriously. We were all jumping, moving, and grooving for hours straight. Overall, they exceeded our expectations and gave us a night that we will cherish forever. Ken is absolutely amazing at his craft! With being an event coordinator, I've had the opportunity to work with HUNDREDS of DJs, and musicians throughout the years. But once I got engaged, I didn't hesitate to tell my now Husband that Ken was the person we were hiring no matter the cost. We planned our budget around Ken and our venue because that was how confident I was to have him as our DJ. With 2020 taking a turn for what it did, we were struck with a difficult decision to make whether it be to postpone to keep our wedding. I'd post 10 stars if we could! My wife and I cannot say enough good things about Amp! We were lucky enough to witness their work at a wedding before we started planning our own and it was the easiest vendor decision we made! From the onset of first reaching out to the final song of the night and beyond, our DJ Ryan kept in touch, answered any questions that popped up, and was extremely receptive to our thoughts, ideas, and some changes late in the game. He also came in clutch when we needed song suggestions for the ceremony and reception. Not only that, but he was an energetic MC who kept the party vibe flowing and hyped up all the important moments! We really appreciated him keeping us in the loop during the reception and giving us a heads up long in advance so we could be set for any speeches, dances, etc too! The planning process was professional and thorough, and the VIP portal was extremely helpful and easy to navigate to input our song choices and make sure everyone was on the same page. We chose to spring for the GoSnap mobile photo booth fairly late in the game but were SO glad we did! Ken did an incredible job of taking everyone's pictures and keeping the vibe going. After performing extensive research, my husband and I chose Ken from AMP DJ Services as our wedding DJ and we could not have been happier. Working with Ken was incredible from day 1. We live quite far out in the Western suburbs but Ken insisted on driving to us for our initial consultation. At the consultation we told him our vision and negotiated on pricing. Ken wound up being the most affordable AND our favorite DJ. We booked his club lights package with a monogram for the dance floor. Our number 1 pet peeve is DJs who are constantly on the mic...and Ken agreed! As two 25 year olds getting married, we had quite a few 20 somethings on the guest list, but we still needed to make our older family members comfortable. So we told Ken we wanted a classy dinner but a hot nightclub late night. Ken was completely on board. On the night of the wedding, Ken hit it out of the park. EVERYONE young and old raved about how awesome he was and how great the lighting looked. He got all names/scheduling correct, was on the mic only when necessary (and when he was, he was great), and had the dance floor jammed the whole night. It was a dream come true for us. He was quick to respond to all of our inquiries and could not have been more accommodating. Ken Murphy from AMP DJ Services was recommended to us by our venue, the Gardens of Woodstock. I am SO GLAD I decided to take their advice and hire Ken. He was the first and only DJ we met with and I got such a great vibe with him we didn't even look at anyone else. Not only did we hire him for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, but we also got his Uplight Package and it was worth every penny we spent. He lit up the inside of the venue beautifully in the exact colors I asked for, and went above and beyond to light up the gardens outside of the venue with amazing, vibrant colors that morphed and moved on the trees. One guest commented that it looked like a secret, enchanted haunted forest-- AWESOME. We thought we had a lot of weird requests for music that isn't typically played at weddings, and were a bit nervous about getting the songs we chose-- DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY AT ALL. Ken got every song we wanted and played everything FLAWLESSLY, including the ceremony songs and first introduction at the reception. He helped the bridal party line up for intros, got everyone together, and I was shocked at how smooth it was. We could not have asked for a better DJ. We are a very busy couple and he was willing to do skype interactions to get all of our details in order. We used AMP DJ Services, for our music, up-lighting and photo booth at our wedding. Ken was awesome at helping us with our timeline and preparing the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We were set up with a great online tool that helped us to organize the timeline and choose all the important songs (processional, recessional, entrance and first dances). When we reached out to ask for some advice on the timeline, Ken didn't hesitate to guide us the rest of the way. The day of the wedding we had no idea Ken was at the venue setting up, but when it was time to walk down the aisle the music was playing and we knew Ken had it handled. We choose to play the newlywed game, and so glad we did. We had guest say they had never seen that at a wedding and they really enjoyed it. The whole room was engaged and laughing at our responses. Ken also provided the photo booth and Solsnap. Solsnap is a mobile extension of the photo booth and can be brought out to the dance floor, and to guest at tables. This was an awesome way to get some great action shots on the dance floor and photos of people who may not have made it to the photobooth. It was a HUGE hit! As for the music. Ken had people dancing ALL night. We had guest of all ages, and we received multiple compliments of how great the music was. My mom mentioned more than once how professional Ken was and how amazing the music was. Ken ended the night with a surprise neither of us was expecting and it is something that we will cherish for years to come. We can honestly say, everyone at our wedding said they had never experienced something like that at a wedding before. Tip top hip hop and swingin country bop...I'm done rhyming now. Ken was a 5 star wedding dj for our outdoor wedding at the Grove in Glenview. His equipment, sound and lighting was superior quality. Not too loud, but you could still feel the beat. The uplighting on the venue made for the perfect romantic evening. Is playlist was good and kept the folks dancing. Nice mix of pop, oldies and country. Here are a few things I wish Ken would have done to make things even better. 1. Have a timeline meeting with the bride and groom a few weeks weeks ahead of the event to go over the "must play" and "don't play" list. 2. Make announcements as the night goes on to direct the crowd (ex. Sign the guest book, coffee and cake are now available in the main house, midnight snacks have arrived) 3. Don't have other prospective clients attends my wedding without prior consent. Ken set a dinner loop and circled the party with prospective clients at our event. 4. Work with us to create a mash up of our two favorite songs for the first dance song. All in all Ken was worth his weight in gold....maybe we just had a platinum wedding. read more
