I used the Yelp feature to send pictures and received a reply shortly after suggesting an in-person estimate. I called and left a message to schedule an appointment, expecting to wait a couple days before even getting a callback. Imagine my (pleasant) surprise when Mr. Anthony called me back within a few minutes! (Green flag #1) I was told to come by Sunday between 8am and noon (green flag #2). I pulled up at about 11am and Mr. Anthony came out to take a look. The business page says "No job is too big or too small" and they stand on that. One thing I really appreciated is that he included me in the process. He simply asked whether I was looking to have the whole fender replaced (I wasn't), went inside and got his tools. It was that easy. No overselling. No overcharging. No frills. Just an honest gentleman who saw a small job, as it turned out) and made the time to do it. Yall. DJ Was my estimator and he was very helpful explaining how long it would take to complete the entire replacement service. The value was comparable to other replacement service I have received at other body shops. This shop is conveniently located in Avondale Estates. It was the location for me.

I chose DeKalb Collision since they easily had the best ratings on the list. I waited a few days for lot availability then DeKalb Collision arranged a same day tow. When I did the walk through with DJ, he said DeKalb Collision (like all the shops on the list) is a body and paint shop. That's fine if your car has external damage like a dent or bumper repair. But if there are mechanical issues like a noise or if it isn't driving the same, take it somewhere else. Otherwise, DeKalb Collision will do the body work and you'll have to take it to another shop for the internal issues anyway.. When I told DJ I'd rather take my car to a shop that could diagnose and fix everything, he said they'd take it to an alignment specialist. When I said I didn't think that was the issue and I'd rather take it to the dealer, DJ assured me that this was just the first step. They'd take it to a dealer if the alignment specialist couldn't resolve it.. DeKalb Collision got the alignment checked. Then they communicated directly with Allstate, I was not part of the conversation. DeKalb Collision told me the accident didn't cause the mechanical issues which they couldn't even diagnose. Allstate then said the internal repairs wouldn't be covered. In other words, Allstate was DeKalb Collision's customer, not me. Also, communication was terrible. DeKalb Collision never returned calls as promised. So even though they'd had my car for two weeks I had to call daily for five days while they made excuses such as not having the required paperwork or "Allstate's permission" before they even started repairs. TIP - If you're in an accident and it isn't your fault, get a police report, choose your own shop and let the other driver's insurance company reimburse you. Better yet, call an attorney. Don't naively believe the insurance company will do the right thing. Overall, DeKalb Collision took three weeks to repair my bumper which they admitted didn't take long to fix. I do not recommend.

I showed him pictures of the scratches being there after the accident. He then changed his story to saying that he has to talk to the owner and would get back with me before the end of the day. My car started having a few problems shortly after I moved here in July and I've taken it in to a few places and been far less than pleased. One guy said to me, "I can easily find $4,000 worth of stuff to be done to this car and not one of my guys wants to work on it." WTH is that?! My car is a 2008 and definitely not a POS. I asked another guy for a range for a tune-up and he said there was no way to do that. Who can't give a range? I even said $300 - $400? $350 - $450? It also took this guy 6 hours to call me back after I left my car with him and he was unable to get a diagnostic despite the check engine light being on. I was so frustrated! I finally found Decatur Pro Auto on Yelp and called them. I took in the next day and they did the diagnostic in 5 minutes while I was there and found the problem - evap leak (broken gas cap) and cylinder #2 misfire. When I asked the mechanic (Andrew) how much a tune-up would be and even said, "$300 - $400?" He replied, "For this car? That's probably high." :-) Really? Because the other d-bag couldn't even give a range! He told me if I could leave the car (which I could) he'd call shortly with an estimate. He called me 15 minutes later! 15 minutes! Compared to 6 hours for the other Decatur shop who couldn't find a problem. Andrew told me it would be $300 for a full tune-up (spark plugs, hoses, gasket, etc), oil change, gas cap, etc. That sounded like a great deal to me! I picked it up the next afternoon (exactly on time), Andrew showed me the old parts, walked me through exactly what he did and was really kind and informative. A lot of mechanics are reputed for taking advantage of women when it comes to their cars but I didn't feel that way with this shop at all. In fact, I felt very respected and appreciated. I felt like they went well above and beyond to make me feel like they valued me. I felt comfortable and that means a lot when someone is working on your car. While driving home I noticed it's driving better than it has in years. Even the little things I had come to accept were just quirks with the car have stopped. I'm beyond impressed with this shop. They have absolutely, 100%, earned my business!
