Amazing service! Someone back into me while looking for a candy bar (i know right! Lol) so i was referred to Spivey's Body Shop through State-farm. I looked at the reviews online before agreeing to go. The reviews convinced me and they didn't let me down. I called ahead and told them when I would be dropping off my car. When i got there, i was greeted by Shane. Very nice. Took my information and i was on my way ! I dropped my car off Thursday at 10am & they called me the following Tuesday at 2pm to inform me my car was ready. So very fast turn around ! My car looks fabulous! I've used them before, and wasn't unhappy. So I went to them again when a rock left a dent on the roof of my GTO. Unfortunately it leaked around the windshield afterward so I returned. I completely understand how something like this can happen, but Spivey referred me instead to a windshield installer; which II assume will not fix the leak for free. I'm disappointed Spivey's didn't stand behind their work, and surprised as well. read more

Unfortunately a deer ran out into the road right into my car very late at night. The deer was fine, but it cracked my kidney grille. I found a replacement grille I liked online and thought my boyfriend and I could easily replace it ourselves (FAIL!). When we were reaching the point of diminishing returns trying to fix the grille ourselves, we took the car to Spivey for help. They were able to look at the damage and the replacement, give me a quote on the spot for the work, and schedule an appointment. They did a great job fixing my grille and charged next to nothing for the work. This is an honest, local place that isn't here to price gouge the community. They have been in business FOREVER and I trust that will continue on account of their fair and honest business practices. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I won't have to be back, but if I have any damage to my vehicle in the future, I know where I'm going :) read more

Someone had T-boned me. I took it to Spivey's for repair. While in shop there was excellent communication from the ladies up front when I called to check the status. When the car was ready the job was so good that you could not tell any mismatch between the paint and contour lines. It had also been cleaned and detailed which was a bonus! State Farm had them as a shop I could choose. Like with anything after you are hit, you just don't want to deal with it. Couple that with previous experiences with shady shops, and you feel like your gambling. Long story short, this a well run, family owned shop with their actual customers (you and me) and not the insurance companies in mind. They were prompt, communicative, and fair with their assessment and work. I actually found a little issue with the paint and instead of making it an issue and having to call the insurance company etc. etc., they just asked me to bring it back in one day to get it taken care of. That is good old fashioned customer service. I look forward to sending people I know with body work needed to Spivey's. They are a class act. read more

I called Spivey's Body Shop in Decatur to inquire about some minor car body repair. I called them, because I try to shop local. I told the woman that I wanted to have some body work done. She replied "The guy that does that is not in right now". I said: "Could you have him call me when he gets in?" She said "he's in and out a lot, you should call back". I said "Well, I have no idea when he is in, or out, so could you just take my number and have him call me when he gets in?" She said "Oh..... OK." Never heard back from them. What the f..ing hell is wrong with people today? I get this all over the place. Do people just have so many customers that they can just be total jerks? We have to BEG for them to take our money? Had a minor fender bender in our 2014 Audi Q7 and our Ins. Co, (State Farm) recommended Spivey's as a repair resource. I sought out (3) estimates for repair / repaint of left rear bumper cover and Spivey's presented the lowest cost estimate (by a fair margin) Although their facilities are modest ( several small buildings) compared to some the the "mega" repair companies they were very responsive and professional and did a great job on the repair and blending of the 3-coat white paint. Additionally, first time ever, our care was ready, even before date time promised, and they washed the car and rubbed out a few other minor flaws and marks not connected with the accident. I called Spivey's more than a half-dozen times over a three-week period to schedule a repair to my car, spoke with several people and left multiple messages, but they never returned any of my calls. I finally contacted another body shop, and this shop took my car in the next week, began repairs that same week and even called to let me know the status of the work. I had gotten rear-ended a couple months ago and had to take it to a State Farm certified repair shop in order for the other guy's insurance to cover it, so I chose Spivey's based on reviews and they did an absolutely AMAZING job. I'll make this short and to the point. My car needed some body work done so I decided to check this place out based on the stellar reviews. I parked, tried to open the office door but it was locked. An older man saw me, opened the door and asked what he could do for me. I told him I needed an estimate for a damage. He came out, looked at the car and went back in. No "why don't you come in and sit down because it's hot outside?" or anything. He acted like it was a bother to help me. I followed him inside and sat down. He brought me the estimate, and it was about 40% more than other estimates. At least others explained the estimate to me. This man didn't! I guess I'll be taking my business elsewhere! read more

I took my car here after an accident after reading a few reviews online. The place is an unassuming spot right off of E Ponce near a bunch of other auto body shops and I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in but Jack Spivey seemed like a really honest guy. He took care of the additional insurance stuff and called me regularly to keep me updated on the progress. Once the insurance details got hammered out they managed to get the car back to me within about 3 days which is not bad! The best part though is the car came out looking pretty much new. They body work was great and they even buffed our headlights and vacuumed/cleaned the interior so it was waaay cleaner than it was before the accident! Almost wish someone rear ended me so I could go back and get that side fixed up too (almost). I really wanted to like this place and was encouraged by the positive reviews. The guys were friendly enough and seemed competent when I took my car in for them to take a look at the damage and the insurance quote. They told me that since it was a fairly easy repair (just a smashed headlight) they would order the parts and then give me a call if they could squeeze me in over the next week or two. Seemed great. 2.5 weeks later I hadn't heard anything, so I called to check on the timeline (no pressure, just checking - my headlight had gone out, so wanted to see if I needed to get a rental or if they were planning on getting me in soon). The guy couldn't find my info so said he would look in the computer and call me back. Over 24 hours later, I get a call from a woman saying she's calling to schedule my repair for two weeks from now. I explained that I had already been waiting for 3 weeks; she didn't even know that I had come in. I said something along the lines of "it sounds like my paperwork has gotten lost, which I understand happens, but can you please check if I can come in earlier as I was told it's a quick job." She said she'd check to see if they'd ordered the parts and would call me back regarding when I could bring my car in. I'm still waiting for that phone call. Basically, they lost my paperwork and weren't willing to take responsibility for it or solve the problem. I am pretty laid back about this kind of thing, but was appalled by the horrific customer service. All they had to do was apologize for the mistake and ask me to bring my car back in so they could order the parts and get it taken care of asap. I much prefer to support locally-owned companies over the big guys, but unfortunately I can get better customer service from a chain. Spivey's will not be seeing me again. read more
