We always get dropped off by a family member, so I can't comment on parking, but I know they have parking available. The inside has a few benches in the seating area, but other than that, amenities are very limited. The bathrooms are either super dirty, or not even open (like the most recent time I traveled from this spot). There are security guards patrolling the area. Typically the train departure times are better from Kalamazoo vs. Grand Rapids, so we continue to travel from here but it's not the best.

Short staffed, so they can get a little behind on clearing snow. This station is not well served by Uber, Lyft, or taxis, so have a plan. Grand Rapids public bus service isn't bad and Google Maps can help you use it, but there's limited service at night and the walking part can be problematic in winter or if you have a lot of luggage. Dress so you can handle a long wait outside, and there is only one small bench for that.

The trip takes just under two hours and departs each day from the station (next to Silver Beach Pizza) at 8:09am arriving around 9am CST (yes, don't forget about the time difference gaining an hour when coming from EST). Pro-tip: install the mobile app for a digital ticket and to keep up to date on whether your train has been delayed. It's mostly been on time for me and I don't mind delays since things happen + it's still way better than driving. However, if you have something important the next day or in the early morning, it might be better to come in the previous day or find a transportation alternative. The cabins are extremely comfortable. Sits are in pairs so you don't have to worry about middle seats. There's nearly 40" of legroom, leaving plenty of space, even for folks about 6' like myself. Huge shoutout to conductors Steve and Warren, as well as Jamie in the cafe cart. They've all been infinitely welcoming and professional. Enjoy and safe travels, everyone! All aboard!

At first it was an hour and half for a part to show up, then it was texts sent we have alternate transportation (which showed up but was not for everyone). Then it was we need to disconnect the cars that need the part but will leave soon. Now we need a new crew. Been on the train for 12 hours now. Still not in Chicago. No idea if we will ever leave. Worst communication ever. No idea if anyone is telling the truth because everything we have been told has been wrong if they communicate which they mostly don't. I would suggest you do anything but use Amtrak.

My only complaint is that the prices surge depending on occasion. It's normally around $50-60 round trip one weekend it was $124 ONE WAY! I was in disbelief! I figured my car was less likely to get messed with in the parking lot out in Bryan, (compared to what might happen in (almost) The Old South End of Toledo). LET ME TELL YA SOMETHIN'!! This has been a great experience! Super easy... 1. Drive to Bryan. It's an easy drive at 6am. Takes about an hour from Toledo. You can catch the train in Toledo if you hate driving and don't mind taking the chance of leaving your car unattended. 2. Park your car in the well lit, blacktopped parking lot. Plenty of spaces. 3. Wait for the train. Don't be late. Amtrak will text you if there is a delay. 4. Show your QR ticket code the conductor and board the train. 5. Enjoy letting someone else do the "driving." Sleep, read, look out the window, bullshit with the other passengers, write a Yelp review...whatever you'd do on a plane, you can do EASIER on the train. The Amtrak train itself? Very pleasent surprise. Even coach is way, WAY more comfortable than flying (except first class...$$$$). College kids and Amish make up a disproportionate amount of riders, at least on this route. Bathrooms are clean and much more spacious than those in an airplane. The station at Bryan is basically an enclosed bus stop, but without the junkies and the bag lady. But also, there is no bathroom, vending machine, ATM, etc. Would I do this again? Oh hell yeah. 5 stars!

About 40 minutes from my parents' home in Fulton County, there is ample parking--albeit a tad bit rustic. My mom, niece and I took the train to Chicago for a day trip and we all loved being able to relax, sleep or read in the way there and back. Takes about 30 minutes to go 13 miles, 20 minute stop in Quincy-at a city park no stores anywhere you can get to in the layover but the park does have a bathroom, as does the train. Not much for scenery but a fun little journey.
