Great for beginners! Took our kids and their friends ages 14 and 16 and they had a blast. The staff at the Challet restaurant were great and very accommodating and the music was as added bonus. Went skiing for the first time and was glad to see Timber Ridge offers introductory lessons around the hour. Easy enough to sign up for classes ($40 including rentals), but not much staff available at all to assist with finding the right size ski boots, many of which had broken latches. This was a little anxiety-provoking for a first-timer, and wish there had been someone around to assist us here. The class lasted 1.5 hours and instructors, most of them appearing to be college kids, were friendly and helpful, and made this a great experience. Great place for a beginner with 2 bunny hills, but would be nice if there was more help available at the main cabin/rental area. read more

Way to pricey for what is offered. Bittersweet is a few miles down the road, way more bang for your buck. The women who was working the " snack shack" had a horrible attitude. Went inside to give a second chance just to find most kitchen workers not wearing masks, everyone was way understaffed. We sat for about 15 minutes, still no service so we just left. Very rarely do I change a review from "Beware" to absolutely a fantastic place to go. About a year ago I had a terrible experience and Lucas reached out to try to make things right. Me and my boyfriend went 2/03/2021 and had a wonderful time!!! Staff was amazing, slopes were great, and food was also great for a concession stand. We also went tubing and it was a blast! Employees were phenomenal, super helpful, and informative. Cheaper than competitors and a Company that really cares about their guest! Great job! Grown up skiing here. Timber Ridge is a great place to come enjoy skiing and boarding in Southwest Michigan with the family. The tubing hill is fun also! The snow has been phenomenal this season and the groomers have done a great job with the hills. Love skiing out here read more

Pretty good skiing given the flat area. We went on a 50 degree day, so the conditions weren't AMAZING but good enough fake snow that we could get by. Completely rude staff. 18 of us drove out here from chicago, called this morning and they never told us they weren't open till 3 pm. So we were waiting, we asked for some water while we waited.... had kids and a pregnant woman with us and they told us NO, they didnt let us use facilities or anything. Having just returned from a ski trip to Park City, we weren't expecting much of anything but a few hills when we bought the groupon for Timber Ridge. We wanted to practice our turns and slowing down while going down the slopes. Once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of slopes that were actually at this location! With the groupon, we paid about 35 dollars for lift tickets and rentals, which I would say is a great deal. Picking out boots was a bit annoying as there wasn't anyone around to ask questions to or to help you out. The kid working the helmet stand was nice and helpful. The lockers only accept quarters, so be sure you have some - but if you don't, find someone that works there and they will give you change. The slopes themselves were fine. They were clearly iced over a lot, so it would have been nice if they had topped it off with some of the fake snow. The bunny slopes had the rope lifts, which made it a bit difficult for a lot of people since (again) the slopes were iced over) - conveyer belts would be a nice addition. The bar was great. They have shotskis, live music, and wonderful drink specials! We got a pitcher of beer for 7 dollars! Coming from the city of Chicago where most single glasses of beer are more than that, the deal was impressive! The food was pretty decent, as well. read more

Just home from Timber Ridge! We took our Girl Scout Junior Troop skiing and tubing and we all had a wonderful time. The ski instruction was ideal and kept their attention. There were two "bunny" hills with pulley ropes for the girls to learn on. The tubing was really fun - three long runs and a handy conveyor system to get you and the tube to the top. The college kids helping with equipment rental, running the tubes and helping on the hills were so kind and helpful to the scouts and adults. My only complaint is the food at the lodge was really icky and we were kicked out of the empty dining room by a very disagreeable older woman because we had packed our own lunches. For a $40 lift ticket, we shouldn't have been relegated to picnic tables in a drafty hallway. We bought drinks and snacks at the lodge and still got kicked out of the dining room. A bit upsetting. But that grouchy lady was the ONLY unkind, unwelcoming person at the whole place! We're coming back with our family and avoiding the dining room. Stayed at the Kzoo Holiday Inn West which was super nice, large pool, and free sit-down breakfast for kids. read more

We took a group of 14 to Timber Ridge this weekend for the last day of the season. There were nine kids in the group and we drove an hour and a half up to go. They had a special deal going on which we called and got information about the night before. When we got to the ticket gate we were surprised to find out that the deal was completely different than what we were told over the phone. This resulted in a $70 difference for our group. We asked them about the variance and they defiantly stated that the website said everything and they wouldn't budge. I am a marketing professional and I was blown away that they said such a thing. When companies say this, are they insinuating that we should not trust the words of their employees? Should we only go to your website for information. If so, please tell us that when we call. Since we had drove such a distance, we decided to go ahead and pay to play. We had a good time once inside on the slopes, but we got cold at one point and I took my daughter inside for a hot drink. When my daughter and I stepped up to the counter we were told the hot chocolate was $2.25. This was really high, but I expected it would be for a seasonal establishment and I ordered one for me and for her. When we were served the hot chocolate the server said, "Just give me $4." From my marketing and sales background this made me very nervous, but I let it go and instead enjoyed the hot chocolate with my daughter. After we finished our hot chocolate we went back to the bunny hill and started skiing again. It was at this time, one of our group said, "lets all go inside for hot chocolate." I said, "Wow, that is generous of you. Do you realize it is $2.25 a cup?" He looked at me strangely and said, "Thats nonsense, the hot chocolate is complimentary." He then went in and got everyone free hot chocolate. I was livid. I couldn't even go in to talk to the business. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

We have been to Timber Ridge twice now, and both times everyone had fun. We took advantage of the Wednesday 2 for 1 deal last week, which makes a single person's rate for a full day of lift and rentals equal to $22. Not too bad! The hill is not that large, which is a good thing when taking people who have never been on a pair of skis. Equipment here does seem to leave a little to be desired. I have never found a pair of boots that felt good. I realize that with rentals you never get really good equipment, but this place seems to have only the bare minimum/basic stuff. I like to have some adjustments for the front and heel area in my boots, but none can be found here. I have had several experiences with small kids not having their bindings setup correctly the first time, but after a second trip to the mechanics they seem to work ok. And good luck finding a pair of poles that are straight...aint gonna happen! Snow conditions last week were pretty good. Lots of natural snow is dumped here based on the proximity of Lake Michigan. They had a 48 inch base last week, with lots of decent powder on groomed trails. There were some trails that hadn't been groomed well, or were iced over from a recent warm-up, so going from a decent track to an ice covered one was a bit disconcerting (especially for newbies!) The far northern trail (Willow) was only open for a few hours in the afternoon, and shut down before the lights really took affect for the nighttime skiing. It would have been nice to have it open longer. Altogether though, a great place for learning to ski and getting ready for bigger hills. read more

Went for tubing. The runs need more excitement like little moguls and whatnot.$15 for only 2 hours is a little steep too. Especially when you spend time waiting in line. The best part is that you don't have to walk back up the hill, there's a nice tow rope that brings you back up! read more

I recently revisted Timber Ridge and I will say I was very underwhelmed all around. You can tell it is a dying resort grasping at any money they can take in and then not putting any back into the place. The worst part is that they have no integrity and will not stand by their advertisment. I waited until the evening rates started at 6pm as posted on there website. When I went to get my lift ticket I was charged a different rate then what was posted online. When I asked the attendant why the rate was different and also showing her the website she still insisted her little paper on the wall was right. The worst thing was she was charging a rate at which I could of been skiing two hours earlier. I would not recommend this place since their competition down the road has better runs and updated facilities. read more
