Yep I'm a fan of Amtrak we as a nation all most lost the last passenger train service in nineteen seven night because of lack of rider's ship. I'm currently sitting on an Amtrak train and my internet connection is only good enough to access a less demanding page such as on Yelp once every 10 minutes. But, that's actually not what frustrates me. Let me advise you on whether Amtrak is for you or not. 1) Amtrak is for you if you enjoy being delayed over an hour almost every time you ride. 2) Amtrak is for you if you don't have work to do or enjoy watching Netflix, or listen to music off your computer. I actually had to sign up for a Yelp account to write this review, that's how bad this company is. Maybe if all of the railroads weren't destroyed in California we would have more competing train services and reliable train transportation, but unfortunately that's not the case. read more

I'm sure this place could be really great. but I'm not having a good experience here. my train should be leaving at 545pm. nope. I got a phone call saying it would leave at 7pm. so, I've been waiting since around 5pm and now they tell me the train hasn't even fucking left Bakersfield? why was that not stated in the beginning?? I feel like that should've been on the sign that they had. if it hadn't left Bakersfield, how on earth could it get here around 7pm? I'm incredibly irritated. I couldn't change my reservation because it was purchased for me by my client who is staying in Fresno another night with her family, but I need to get home for work and school. hopefully if I ever come back to Fresno with her, I'll just stay with her the entire time regardless of work and school. because these delays aren't making my trigeminal neuralgia any better. read more

I travel quite a bit for business and I always try to use amtrak as much as possible. Looks can be deceiving the outside of the Fresno station is a little ruff but one inside the station the staff always greets you with a smile and warm professional attitude. My wife and I have traveled from Fresno to San Diego and back many times in the past 12 years or so. Most trips are just fine. Once in a while things happen that can be upsetting, but understandable. Stuff happens! Delays happen for many reasons: Accidents, breakdowns, stopping for freight trains. (I'm told that most, if not all, tracks are not owned by Amtrak, but rather they are leased from the freight companies. So, the freight trains have the right of way.) You have an important meeting? Leave earlier. All in all, we enjoy our trips on Amtrak. I do have some suggestions, however: 1. The train to San Diego is scheduled to depart just 15 minutes after the bus from Bakersfield is scheduled to arrive at Union Station. No way can this septuagenarian couple travel the quarter mile to the train while pulling luggage in the time allotted. (Trams are not always available.) We missed our connection the last two trips and had to wait for the next train - a minor inconvenience. In the same vein, once our bus from LA to Bakersfield was a bit late. As we pulled into the station we saw our train leaving! Why couldn't the train wait another 5 minutes or so when Amtrak personnel knew a bus was soon arriving? It was a long wait for the next train. (Turned out OK for us as a family member living in Bakersfield took us out for dinner to one of the best Mexican meals we ever had.) 2. I imagine that putting trains together requires a lot of planning. But, how much trouble would it be to add another car or two during busy times? Or, better yet, get some two-decker cars. I'm on a roll! I could go on, but feel I would be nitpicking. read more

On the southbound train #714 today (12/16/17) and visited the cafe car for a snack. I was greeted by the young gal on duty (Trinity) who's an Awesome host for Amtrack. She's very personable and professional at her job. I know she can't be on every shift, but you have a winner employee here. read more

I love riding the train! I travel to see my boyfriend in Bakersfield. It's a nice a ride. I get to relax, enjoy free wifi, sleep, eat, or read! Right now it's $22 for 1 way, $44 for 2 way so compared to paying for gas it's not bad at all. Plus you can't do all the things I just listed while driving so I think it's great. At this station, the parking is free and there are gates that close at night and security cameras, so I feel save to leave my car there for a few nights. The bathrooms on the train can be messy sometimes, & the food isn't that great either but other than that, free wifi, and free parking totally works for me. read more

Just rode Amtrak from Fresno to LA. Great. Great. Great! What the hell was I thinking? I drove 30 round trip trips last academic year. With gas, maintenance, and some incidental repairs, I spent $4000 last year! Even accounting for the few car trips home, I'm saving nearly $1800! Train was on time, air conditioned, full power outlets, wi-fi, and when we got to Bakersfield there were 7 buses ready to board to other SoCal cities and Nevada. In 15 minutes we were on the road. They had full outlets, and wi-fi too! read more

Writing as I sit waiting for my train that was supposed to be here an hour and a half ago. Apparently my train was experiencing technical problems but the fact that I wasn't given an alert like I asked is annoying. If I wanted to leave at a later time I would have bought a later ticket. As a student I rely on the Amtrak to get me home and I understand there are going to be delays but this is just flat out ridiculous. Never traveling with Amtrak again!!!! Up until this point my experiences with the company weren't anything special anyways so ill definitely be finding another way to travel home maybe that way it won't take me 8 hours to get from fresno to Orange County. read more

Frequent toraveler from Fresno to SAC......Perfect if you need to read, study, or just want to relax. The only problem is that on Friday and Sundays, it can be difficult to find a seat if you are traveling with companion/s. Single seats, no problem, but if you got the kids or friends...not that easy....I have taken the earliest and latest train departing and it is much easier to find seats....Very pricey...bring your own snacks...overall....like it better than driving...only b/c Im still in school... read more

The bus bridge from Stockton to Sacramento operated on time and quite efficiently. But the delay on the way back from Stockton to Fresno was unacceptable. Over 35 minutes!!! And why don't all of the doors open to allow passengers to board?? In addition, the Sac station was being refurbished, but should have been a little more pleasant! read more

This is actually a very clean cute Amtrak Station. Everything is super clean. The people working at the bag check in are very nice. I am more comfortable using Amtrak because of how nice they keep this station. Its also a cute location. Its right next to a couple parks. read more

Do not park your car in the lot for more than 1 day or if at all. The scragglers around the area use the parking lot as a free for all flea market. Amtrak will do nothing about your losses. read more

In early March 2012, I rode the Amtrak San Joaquin roundtrip between Sacto and Los Angeles Union Station. I've travel frequently up and down California (and West Coast in general) for 30 years via Greyhound Bus Service. Amtrak puts Greyhound absolutely to shame! There's an old saying; when given lemons, make lemonade. I had a recent bullshit bad-attitude lowlife experience on Greyhound (Thugs! Sep '10) and decided to try AMTRAK and I truly regret not discovering Amtrak a very, very long time ago! If Amtrak is running 5-10 minutes late, they'll send an employee to the customer line and inform them. Pure professionalism. In contrast, if Greyhound is several hours late, those lowlifes won't lift a finger and let them (Greyhound riders) fend for themselves. read more

Ok so I love amtrak cause it convenient ,clean and dependable.On this trip from the Bay to Fresno was nice,except whom ever is the conductor or on the mic on Train 713 picking up from Fresno to the bay at 12:05 pm is annoying!They also picked up from Jack London on my way too Fresno,same lady's voice,I don't need to know everything that happens around the train and why,she likes to talk and I'm trying to relax not listen to someone rant on and on and onnnnn like I am right now and going to do here,lol.I understand your doing your job,but keep all your personal side notes and reason's to yourself,and being rude to the guy next to me cause he had his earphones on with the"oh you had your earphones on,THATS why you couldn't hear me " comment with a disgruntled face at him while collecting his tickets is RUDE!Your in hospitality/travel biz,do it with a smile and be nice cause your an employee not the owner,geez lady,lol. read more

Train was fun! You can take your own food, games, drinks. Seats were comfy and roomy. Prices are affordable. Free wifi if you need it. CON.. First train was cleaner then the train home. I went with my children under the age of ten and was looking for a spot where we would be able to sit together and on the train ride home so many people that were riding alone were in the four seaters and just laying out. Common courtesy would have made me move. Luckily they let us sit in the café where we could sit together. read more
