So I started off in Palm Springs en route to downtown. First off, the driving during rush hour is a major bitch so finding other ways around was a lifesaver. Started off in Palm Springs Airport which leads you to the Fullerton station in downtown Fullerton. From there, the start of the Amtrak to LA. The station itself is decent. You have the ticket counter with a little seating area. Restroom are located there which you would need to show a ticket in order to use it. They don't want people just walking in and about. There's also a cafe right next door. While waiting for your train and grab a snack or something to drink. I had to do that later on the return. There's two side with the stations. You have the screen telling which track to go to depending on where to start and finish. There's a bridge that connects you to the other side for the other track. This connection to downtown was only about half an hour which it's the next stop. So that was nice. The station does get pretty busy with both locals and travelers. You'll see people with suitcases as well as locals going about their business. It's a cool concept and a new way to get around without having to drive and sit in traffic. Only downfall, if there's something wrong with the tracks or system, it could be a major wait. Give yourself extra time incase that happened which it did on the return. A lot of the trains were stuck as there was something wrong with the system. Otherwise, it's fairly decent.

Took train on a Saturday , LA to Fullerton station , it was at 6:11 am Was nice. , fast . Wish they had a train a little earlier . The ride was smooth they have a cafe to you want to buy something to eat r drink. Train was going all the way to San Diego. I have taking the train to San Diego with the family. We enjoyed it . Can get a little pricey with a big family, it's amazing though . No traffic can use the Wii , just enjoy the seen of the ocean.

What a way to travel!!! From Fullerton, it was a beautiful 2 hour ride to Santa Fe Depot which was basically in the heart of San Diego. Train arrived on time. If you missed the chance to grab something to eat or snack on, the station in fullerton has a little depot with everything you need. Can't wait to take this ride again!

    Waiting for the Surfliner

Took the Pacific Surf-liner from Fullerton to SLO for the Memorial Day weekend to visit some friends. The train ended up being 30 minutes late, so we waited in the dark near some sketchy homeless in the area. We paid for business class but service wasn't great. There was self serve water, coffee, juice and pastries. The complementary snack box wasn't even handed out until 15 minutes before our trip arrived to our destination, 6 hrs later! So bring your own food or plan on paying for something in the Cafe car. Our return trip left about 20 minutes late, waiting for a conductor driving in from LA. It was quite busy and the train filled up in a few subsequent stops. The views from the upper level are amazing along so much of the deserted Central California coast. I would still ride this train again just for the views and not having to drive in traffic. Seating is comfortable and has plenty of legroom.

A nicer looking station than many other places. The surfliner is not really clean inside tho, especially the bathrooms

    Ask the Community - Amtrak

Is long term overnight parking free?

I'm not sure but I didn't see any meters there. I parked in the lot for several hours.

    Can you park overnight?

Yes, but must be on the top deck of the parking structure West of the train station (on the other side of Harbor Blvd) - there is a walking path along the tracks to get from the parking structure to the station

    Long term parking?

Up to 14days in the Soco Parking structure at Harbor and Santa Fe. Over 72 hours stop by the ticket office for a permit.

So does anyone have any feedback about their experience in the fullerton station? How are the staff? And what people thought about the facility itself? These are very import to me? Anyone have any feedback that isn't about the train itself?

The staff seem to be friendly, completely in a great mood.the clerk that helped my dad & I was very nice & helpful to let us know about having to take the trolley or bus after he was going to get dropped off. My dad uses Amtrak very often to come…

Can i buy the ticket in the station?

    yes

C resident, even I tire of sitting in traffic on the 405/101, so I decided to use the metrolink to get to LA!

Downfall sometimes, the train situation is so bad with the schedules. Besides that, the station is quite nice. Two main platforms on either ends with a bridge over. Quite fun to stand there and have the trains below you. Maybe that's a kid thing but it does bring back a lot of memories. They do have a little cafe next door that serve food as well as a little concession stand. Decent size patio that's great for people watching. Inside the station has a little waiting area which is helpful but there's plenty of seating outside as well. There's also an announcer that let you know if the train is running behind and any delays. It does happen quite often in my opinion. It's a train station and things like that is out of our control so it's bound to happen. Staff are alway friendly whenever I've experience it with them. I'm not sure if it's security or their staff that walks up and down the track to assist with anything. And your down the street from downtown Fullerton.

I once went here on a day trip using the Metrolink train and then used the bus route 553 (which is apparently on weekdays) to go to Disney. I find that the route was fine although there were a lot more stops to the park, and it drops you off 3 blocks away. On a weekend on Sunday, I used the ART route bus 15. I liked this route because it was only 3-4 stops and you're directly dropped off at Disneyland's bus center so it's a shorter walk to the park. I only wish the bus came at its scheduled times or were properly updated on the live route site, so you're stuck waiting longer than expected and you're unsure of when the bus will exactly come. - free parking at the lot, gates open automatically , unless event is happening across the street at Honda center - prepay adult day passes ($6 all day) online and show email to bus driver - very clean and impressively aesthetic transit center, usually empty
