This is where my shuttle bus to and from Palm Springs connects to Los Angeles on the Amtrak. Beats sitting in traffic in your car. The station itself isn't that big with a couple of seating inside and the ticket counters to the opposite end. They do have public restrooms around the corner which is for ticket holders. Apparently you don't need a key to enter but whenever there's no one, they're alway locked. It's a pain when you have to get someone to open it, if they do. Anyway, there's maybe two attendant working at a time. Two sides of the track with a bridge the connect you to the opposite side of the tracks. They do have a good amount of trains that run along the tracks. It's pretty well organized but the only downfall, a lot of the schedule tends to run behind. I've had my train delayed a few times by half and hour and continue to go longer. Last time it was over an hour which I ended up having to get an uber to pick me up from the station in Fullerton to downtown LA. You really don't have control of the schedule and track but it's happened quite often lately. The station also has a mini station restaurant that serves food and drinks. It's right next door to the ticket station with more seating outside the patio than inside. Your typical snack shop but with hot food made to order. On the other side of the station is the bus depot. It's located in downtown Fullerton so there loads of restaurants nearby if you wanted something more substantial. The station itself is nice and well maintained with a good amount of parking. Only downfall, scheduling can be off course quite often. read more

Girlfriend and I rode the metrolink from Fullerton to union station in dtla. Weekend passengers were light and we ended up meeting up with an acquaintance onboard who had boarded at an unlined station. Weekend all day passes are $10, but are a little tough to find via the kiosk. I'll know for next time. This trip we bought 2 one way passes each. Fullerton station is convenient and easy to navigate. We were able to find parking in the front lot. But if that's full or you are parking for a longer term there's a parking structure across harbor Blvd. Get your ticket, figure out which track your train is using, there's a bridge for pedestrians to get to the other side from the station if that's where you need to go. Wait for your train and board when it arrives. Commute or travel stress free, leaving the traffic and freeways behind. This was my girlfriend's first time riding the train and she enjoyed it. I've ridden before but this trip reminded me of how enjoyable the train can be. We're planning our next metrolink trip from the Fullerton station next month. I'm looking forward to it and will definitely get the $10 day passes this time to save a few bucks each. read more

Last month I tried a new idea for hanging out with my family, which is taking a train to downtown LA. We departed from the Fullerton Train Station, conveniently located near downtown Fullerton. It was a great experience as we could easily walk to nearby restaurants for a meal or drink. Sunday parking is free. Another days have to pay $5 ish for full day parking. The station itself, including its parking lot, was impressively clean. It was easy to access, and the parking lot was conveniently situated right next to the train. The boarding area had two sides, depending on the direction your train was coming from, so make sure to figure out which side is your train. Serving both Metrolink and Amtrack for the Fullerton community, this station makes it both easy to drop off/pick up passengers AND park and see somebody off. My daughter takes Amtrak to see friends in San Diego, and this station is the closet/most convenient one for us from DTLB. We came a bit early to see her off, and parked in the (free but no overnight) train station customer only surface lot...plenty of space on a Friday afternoon. As you head to the station, there is an outdoor area with old locomotives and railroad car for display. This is the Fullerton Train Museum and it was closed, but you can still peek through the fence and take photos. There are 4 tracks at this station, with Track 1 and 2 on the Northside where the inside station (with a small cafe is) resides. Bathrooms and ticket purchases happen there. This is where Google Maps will direct you if you type in the station. There is a similar set-up (without the station) for Track 3 and 4, with dropoff on Walnut Avenue or parking in the nearby lot. A large pedestrian bridge (with two elevators and manual stairs) will take you across the tracks to the other side for Track 3 and 4 (and vice versa of course). The southbound Amtrak seems to consistently take Track 3, but there are lighted signs signifying which track for the next train for confirmation. There are a few places to sit on the Track 3 side, and some of it was shaded. Throughout our wait, the intercom would periodically come on and say something about the upcoming Amtrak. We heard it when stating it would be on Track 3, but as the time came closer, it stated about where you should stand....it was overly complicated and we really didn't understand. But about 10 minutes before, an employee actually came out and told people the info face to face. I thought that was really nice and great service. Basically, she wanted us to know where to stand if you were business class (the first rail car) vs coach (all the ones afterwards). It's always nice to know you are doing the correct thing. The train came right on time from the West (from the left) and the locomotive stopped under the pedestrian bridge. People were ready to get off at the exits, and there were conductors ready to help with the luggage and make sure everything was proper. Once most people got off, the conductor started to allow inbound passengers to get on (after checking their ticket). The whole process took only 5 minutes, and then they were gone. Remember the old days where you could see a visiting loved one for the maximum amount of time, by first greeting them when they exit the plane or seeing them off when they enter the plane? It wasn't a very good use of time, but often provided an inherent sense of importance (i.e. you are so important to me that I'm going to spend every last SECOND with you and make sure you leave us safely). Well, that will never happen again at airports...but you can still get that similar experience by TRAIN. And there is something to being at the station for the holidays, where you see either young people coming home to see parents, or older parents visiting to see grandchildren. We saw multiple instances of a father and young son greeting their dad/grandpa when he got off the train...so much love there and ... humor ... when the grandpa and boy are walking hand in hand in front, excitedly talking to each other, and the dad trying to keep up with all the multiple pieces of luggage trailing...haggard but with a big smile on his face watching his loved ones being together. If you are a rail fan, you have to come to the Fullerton station. We use to go the Burbank Station to catch just two Metrolink trains and a surf liner train if we were lucky. Here you can catch 3-4 Metrolink trains on two different routes, 2 Amtrak Surfliners, and a bunch of freight cargo trains within a 2-hour period. The station has a clean restroom (reserved for train customers but as long as you look decent, the ticket counter will let you in. Just next door to the Metrolink waiting area is a cute cafe where you can buy snacks, sandwiches, and beer to enjoy them in the patio out front by the tracks. Burbank is nice but it pales in comparison in terms of rail traffic and amenities. Nice big free parking lot after a certain hour. It is also walk-in distance to a lot of cute eateries and shopping in the area. read more

The Fullerton train stop is small, has a cute architecture, has a bit of a Southwestern style, which I like. The interior is just one room and a few restrooms, not the cleanest, not the best experience, let's put it that way. A few strange characters roaming around the station, so maybe a security guy working here wouldn't be a bad idea. Too bad, otherwise is a nice designed room. There's a big, free parking lot if you need to park and drive. There's a cafe next to it, can't say I was impressed. At night, things get a bit worse. Somehow no one works inside anymore, and they lock the restrooms, so paying travelers can't use them which isn't fair. We looked around and went to the platform they specify is the one to take the train back to LA. We heard some announcement, just one, that they changed the platform for the LA Metrolink train. Just once? Not enough? Everyone was confused. I asked a nice young couple and they confirmed it and they told me that they always change the platform for the train headed to LA last minute. Once again, not cool. Cute stop, but it needs a few improvements in terms of organization. read more

Found this rail station to be clean. Has a nice little coffee shop attached to it. Plenty of parking, i mean tons of parking. When I was here the lot was maybe 5% full. Felt very secure too as there were more cops hanging around than rail passengers. Easy to find your way in and out. Trains were also easy to find. Not sure if there's a rush hour here or not but it was mostly empty mid-morning on a Saturday. Definitely a better experience than DTLA! read more

They offer train rides from this station all the way to downtown San Diego. The Fullerton train station has a small lobby where you do the check-in of luggage. Check-in was fairly quick and easy. It was nice that there was no check-in fee. They have a restroom at the lobby and I, along with several other travelers did find it inconvenient that they decided to clean the rest room right before the train trips scheduled. The folks working here also decided to clean the lobby right after and so we ended up having to get out of the lobby and wait outside. It just seems that it would make more sense to do any cleaning when there's no travelers there (or after the trains have left). It was inconvenient to have no lobby to sit at and no restroom to go to. Next to the train station lobby is a little cafe where one can purchase food. read more

This is an ok train station . The ticket area inside is clean and air conditioned . The exterior by the tracks wasn't bad but kinda had that 'where's the portapotty scent' if you know what I mean . The cafe here is nice . Had a breakfast bagel sandwich that was quite good but a bit expensive for $6. The Amtrak train we took here was alright . Note that business class is $15 or so more per ticket but the morning trains don't offer much for the extra fee. It's a help yourself to cheap packaged muffins and coffee. I heard the afternoon and evening business class is much better . Waiting now for the southbound train to San Diego . Purchased a nice bagel sandwich for $3.50 at cafe as well as a large bottle of water (also $3.50). You have to cross a bridge to get to the southbound train . A homeless person walked into the elevator and started to mumble a few choice words :( Hopefully the train station can have someone patrolling the area as it made the situation uncomfortable and scary . When I take the Metrolink up from Oceanside to visit my girlfriend, the Fullerton Metrolink station is my stop. But, every time I come here (arriving and departing), it's not a great place. The building may be a national historical monument, but there's no ambiance inside. No TV, no music, not even any electronic timetables. And on hot days like this past weekend, where the only AC is inside the building, it gets rather boring waiting inside for your train to arrive. Additionally, it appears that the restrooms are always being cleaned right when you arrive... although I haven't seen any problems during departures. The staff also aren't as welcoming as in my neck of the woods... must be an L.A. thing. I will admit that the outside patio is nice to wait around, and I do want to check out the bar and cafe next door (along with some of the nearby restaurants - we've already been to the Old Spaghetti Factory earlier this year). Otherwise, the Fullerton Train Station is just a stop for me when I go see my lady. read more

It's an on train station I get it's old but no outlets to use there are some on the train just not in the station. Some people who get out of hand like the guy who screamed at the ticket lady for not letting him go to the bathroom because he didn't have a ticket. That's another this you have to have a ticket to use the bathroom yes almost every train station is like that or has a code on the door but it irritating having to go up to the front to have them buz you in all the time. My husband, our little girl dog (yes small dogs are allowed to travel on Metrolink for free, as long as they are kept in a crate during the duration of your trip) and myself decided to take the Metrolink for the first time this past Saturday. We made a day trip out of it to Oceanside and back to Orange County. Although there are other stations closer to my home in the San Gabriel Valley, we decided to drive to Fullerton (located in downtown Fullerton, consider grabbing a bite to eat at the many restaurants out in this area). Parking is free and I have no problem leaving my car in the lot while we were gone. Anyways, my husband and I were both rather frustrated when trying to purchase our tickets at the kiosk machine. There are only 2 machines, one on each side. The line for both machines were rather long. But the main reason why we were so frustrated was that the machine was not very sensitive when pushing the appropriate buttons. If you push too hard, it may automatically select the item choice after the next screen. Then you will either have to go back to the previous screen or start all over again... which is what happened to us more than a few times on this trip (and it gets rather frustrating when there is a long line of people behind you also waiting to purchase tickets from this outdated kiosk machine). I thought it was stupid that we had to choose the station we were departing from and the station we plan on visiting. It should just be automatic that the Fullerton station should be where we are departing from since we are at this station using the kiosk.... (save yourself a headache and just order tickets ahead of time on line or come incredibly early to use the kiosk so that you have enough time to get your ticket and catch your train). Eventually when we finally got our tickets, we headed over to the platform and waited for our 9:15 am train to Oceanside. We were disappointed that they were 13 minutes late. And then in the middle of our long trip, our train was delayed for about 20-25 minutes. Eventually the train conductor announced over the speaker that there was a difficult person on the train whom was threatening people. He apologized for our long delay and had to make sure that the police came to take him away. I appreciate that my safety and other passengers was top priority in this situation. Anyways, we eventually made our way to Oceanside (delayed a little over 30 minutes). I greatly appreciate that the unisex restroom on our trip to Oceanside was clean and adequately stocked with toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap. It is also great that there was running water. But to use the faucet, it was a pain to push up on it to make the water run. Definitely not the most sanitary (you just have to check it out to see for yourself). However, the toilet in one of the cars did not look clean (the door was wide open when we caught the last train ride back to Fullerton). Being that this was the last train to head back to Union Station, I suppose this is why the train wasn't clean. But it would have been nice for the restrooms to be cleaned (but of course some people are just plain ol' gross and rude and do not clean up after themselves .... thanks America...). Luckily I did not have to use the restroom on our way back to Fullerton. Although Metrolink's website stated that there is WiFi on the train, I was unable to get onto it. Also the website also mentioned that there are outlets on the train. But there are very few outlets on the train, so do not rely upon that if you plan on using your electronics on the train. Bring a battery bank. There is drinking water with paper cups available next to the restrooms on the train which is nice (but I brought my own water). I think the train ride itself was enjoyable for the most part. It is nice to see that we were not stuck in the traffic that is along side the freeway. It was also nice to see such beautiful scenery on our way to Oceanside (the final stop). It was not overly crowded and there is a light padding on the seats. The train itself was clean for the most part. But it is rather unfortunate that the last train back to Fullerton was so early at around 5:20 pm. But because they have to make their way back to Union Station in Los Angeles, it is understandable that the train would pick us up so early. Overall, I did enjoy my same day round trip visit and may consider riding again in the future. Please note that it cost $7 for 1 same day, round trip ride. On weekends (Saturday & Sunday), it cost $10 for unlimited rides (per day). read more

This place is a piss of work. On July 15,2023. I stoped her for a train museum that is next to them. This train station is the worst the worker are super rude. THERE IS NO BATHROOM AT all the worker feel empowered by saying you don't have a ticket. I have kids so I went to the restaurant and buy food and used there bathroom. But when you go on line at the station it says amenities bathrooms they need to change that to no bathroom because is not for the use of Metrolink passengers. You have to have a Amtrak or pacific ticket to go on. I will never ever go to this place. Is the worst customer service ever. read more

I usually travel in and out of ARTIC, but thought I'd give Fullerton a chance since they have ample free parking and you don't have to travel too far between tracks. I've been coming to this station for years, but never really to take the train. When I was taking photography classes in college, this was always a favorite spot to snap, especially at night. You saw a lot of interesting people, and there were coffee shops and other cool places to hang out in Downtown Fullerton, so it was a win-win. For traveling in and out, it was as easy as can be. Yes, there are a lot of homeless people in the area, but they don't really bother anybody. Even though it's called the Metrolink train station, I've been here more for AMTRAK because they have more times on their schedule going back and forth to and from San Diego and Los Angeles. The price difference is only a few bucks, and I find that AMTRAK is faster and a bit cleaner. You can either buy your tickets online, at the station or via little kiosk that they have. While you wait, they have a little cafe that serves up coffee, food, and other stuff ranging from a full meal to snacks depending on your appetite. A comic book store is also present with some retro arcade games, so passing the time is even more enjoyable. Purely for nostalgic reasons, I think I'll be traveling out of Fullerton in the future. You have to stop there regardless if you're coming from Anaheim, and it's less traffic if there is a game at the Honda Center or at the Angel Stadium. read more

Ouch. What a sucky experience. Today is my 40th birthday. I planned a trip on the metrolink for my family to the San Clemente pier. We got tickets and boarded at Fullerton station. Everything smooth so far. Once on the train, the announcer says that this train is only going to the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station due to construction, and that there would be buses to take us the rest of the way. Oh well, we understand. I wish they had posted a sign or something when we bought our tickets but we understand. Once we get off, we walk to the buses, which get PACKED. Standing room only. Once aboard, a guy comes on and says that there will be buses bringing us back to this station starting around 5:30 PM. We were supposed to be coming back at 2 PM by train. He said there would be buses starting at 530 and that the train wouldn't leave until all of the buses were back, which would be something like 7 PM or later. He made it clear those were approximate times. We needed to be back sooner than that unfortunately, so we got off the bus. The bus guy couldn't help us. The metrolink lady said there were no trains back until 5 PM. So it's 10 AM and we're stranded. Unfortunately, because we have a 5 year old, we can't get an uber or lyft. So we asked a family member to come get us. Shame. They claim it was posted at the Fullerton station. It wasn't. When I entered our destination on our tickets, nothing. Even on the train, no mention of not being able to return on time. I've advocated for public transportation like this for years and this is the first experience with them. What a mess. And to think that the help ended there, just like that, where families with kids were just simply stranded. Well, it just sucked. Someone dropped the ball. I hope they get it together. read more

A weekend afternoon commute on the 5 freeway from OC to DTLA is a nightmare. It can easily take us an hour to get there, find a parking spot, hit traffic yet again on the way home, yada yada yada... Last Saturday D and I wanted to check out LA Live and Little Tokyo (thus entailing a trek to DTLA) and since were were feeling adventurous, D did a little bit of online research and we decided to take the Metrolink from the Fullerton Station to Union Station. They have a weekend pass for $10 which is good from Friday night until Sunday night on all Metrolink lines, Metro trains and buses. An easy and relaxing commute sans traffic (thus reducing our carbon footprint) is always a big plus to me! We parked at the Fullerton station and headed out to Track 1 to wait for the 12:23pm NB train to LA. This station was decent, had ample parking spaces and it looked like a lot of people take the train from here. For the convenience and price, I envision many trips to LA from the Fullerton station! read more

This station is the best in Orange County because there's ample parking and it's not too far of a train ride to Los Angeles (20 minutes on a good day), Riverside(I've arrived early every time 25-30 minutes) or Oceanside (haven't done this one, but I'm 99% sure it's about 30 - 35 minutes). They offer 72 hour parking in the parking structure connected to the platform which is another reason why I love this station. Never had issues parking here for the weekend, but this structure is popular on Friday and Saturday nights as it's right by the bars and clubs in downtown and there's usually a few beer bottles and broken glass to be aware of when I return on Monday morning. I've left my car here for the weekend and taken the train out of town for at least 2 years now and never had a break-in or robbery (praise Buddha). Fullerton station is also a major bus depot, with plenty of major bus lines that stop here and take you in any direction of Orange County. I prefer catching the bus here to go to Disneyland as it's a straight shot down Harbor Blvd. and the 43 line will drop you off in front of the park in about 15 to 20 minutes depending on how busy the traffic is on the street. It's also about 2 or 3 blocks from Fullerton College or if you need to go to Cal State Fullerton it's a quick bus ride there as well. There are also plenty of bars, shops and restaurants within walking distance you can visit while you wait for your train or someone to arrive from the train or bus. Anaheim station is nice, but it's hella (this really is the best adjective to describe it) big making it difficult to get to the other side of the platform to catch a train and you have to pre-register your car to park overnight there. Fullerton station is the commuter friendlier choice! read more

OCTA bus stop is there, lots of parking spots, and surrounded by lots of bars, restaurants, and shops in downtown Fullerton. Lots of commuters for LA and travelers for SD and more. Tickets: Either online, at the station, or vending machine (at the platform). Parking: The one on the west side is kinda all over. Parking structure and parking spots sharing them with bus riders and drunks in downtown Fullerton. Great parking - on the easy side! New and clean parking structure. There's a bridge from the platform to take you to the east side - over Harbor blvd. It's a great shortcut to go across Harbor blvd. There's a vending machine for books from library. You can check out for 3 weeks. Neat idea! But it should have the drop box as well... Cleanness: The station itself is relatively clean. The station building is old yet cool. But I can't deny the fact that there're lots of homeless people and it's in downtown Fullerton (bunch of drunks). I do hope they keep it clean... Train fanatics: They think "people in general don't get them". Ditto on that. I think trains look cool. I just don't get the train fanatics chasing trains and shooting video/pictures crazily.
