If you want to pay cash make sure you use the correct machine one of them is cards only and the other one is cash or card. Was planning on paying in cash but use the wrong machine so I had to use a card. But it was easier than I thought to get the card and you can just tap it to check your balance. Have not tired the key out because I had a token to get ride but look forward to testing it out soon.

Much better than years ago when it was a dilapidated wood structure filled with urine. Although it would be nice if there were still a Post Office there. The tunnel under the station always floods when it rains. The ticket office is barely open. Only in the morning. The digital signs are always incorrect. Cheap parking is limited, but there is ample parking in the attached Radnor Township lot. There are only 6 spots, all for monthly pass holders, on the inbound side. There are about 100 $1 spots on the outbound side, which is accessible from Matsonford Road. Look for the entrance to Archbishop Carroll.

Transferring to the Blue Line at 69th St. Station is easy and rarely a wait. Using the R100 Radnor Station and the High Speed Line shaves nearly 20-25 minutes off the trip down into Philly. And the parking, albeit limited, is free! However there is no ticket booth/kiosk, so bring correct change ($3.50 peak fare with transfer to downtown Philly). Make sure you ask for the transfer when paying the fare!

If you can easily get to Camden otherwise great. Unfortunately, some of PATCO's Philly exits double as homeless shelters. You literally trip over the poor people sleeping on the floor exiting at 10th or 15th and Locust. DRPA (which runs PATCO) and the City have some lame arrangement where the City, not DRPA isn't responsible for foyers and exits once you leave the turnstiles. Which is to say, these are completely neglected by the City and are a public health hazard. The whole of the DRPA is set up to limit accountability because no one in charge other than the governors of either NJ and PA are elected. This has historically led to major problems of systemic neglect. Recently, however, the trains and tracks were renovated and an abandoned Center City station in Old City is being completely rebuilt. The system has no direct connection to either SEPTA Regional Rail or the National Transportation Grid, nor does it plan to.

I often stop to visit with my oldest friend -- we were in high school together, she as a teacher (no, all wholesome, nothing risque). For that matter, I enjoy the city in general. It is great in its own right, overlooked because it is between the financial capitol and the political capitol of the nation, but it has museums (including the Mutter and the Rosenbach and now the Barnes), sports, music, and fine dining. The whole station is undergoing a multi year renovation. I assume they will upgrade the lounge as at Moynihan to the north, or perhaps they will rip out the benches as at Union Station to the south. The space is very long. You can easily find privacy to work or nap; I have never seen it crowded. There are two bonus features worth mentioning. The first is the conference room. You can reserve it for free. I have seen solo workers camped out, with equipment and papers spread out on the table. The second is the elevator system. They announce the trains. You can ride down to the platform, bypassing any need to line up. I regard 30th Street Station as another reason to like Philadelphia. The lounge is part of that.

I recommend in trying to get the 1 conference room for conference calls and/or more privacy, as the lounge can get loud. The snack offerings are super limited (nuts, chips, granola bars, fruit, and canned soda and bottled water); but, there is coffee and an ice machine. Front desk could be friendlier. Note that you require a Red Cap to use the elevator to get access to this space - otherwise, you'll have to deal with the stairs! +odd seating area +limited snack selection

So many incredible restaurants- Amada, Zahav, and Positano Coast, just to name a few. And then there's the close proximity to all of the Penn's Landing activity. Chestnut Hill West is a very nice station compared to other Septa stations. There is covered…read moreseating and an inside waiting area, plenty of parking, and the station is accessible. Although the trains generally leave on time, Septa uses the extra space here for equipment storage, so every once and a while the train will be delayed by twenty minutes or more. The regular crew at this location is consistently nice and know what they're doing. For the most part if you smile and try to be friendly, you'll make their day and your commute much nicer. The best part about this station is that it is just steps away from beautiful Chestnut Hill so it is a great regional rail destination.

I like the Chestnut Hill West Station for a number of reasons…read more.. 1. It is the first/last station on the line. You can arrive prior to your train's departure and wait INSIDE of the train instead of waiting out in the elements (although, yes, there is covered outdoor seating as well, if your train has not yet arrived). You also get your choice of seats. 2. It is extremely proximate to two primo coffee shops (Starbucks & Chestnut Hill Coffee Shop). A nice hot cup-o-joe is good company on the quiet ride car. 3. Conductors are generally pretty nice. There is still the oddball who asks you for your pass three times before you get to center city, but for the most part they are pleasant and reasonable. 4. You rarely see an old POS train run on this line anymore. The trains are in decent condition and kept fairly clean. 5. It's a cool old fashioned train station! I took a star away because, face it, it's still SEPTA. They can be quite heartless on the days that you're running late, soaked to the bone, screaming, crying, etc. SEPTA runs on SEPTA's schedule only. This means that whether they are 35 minutes late or 2 minutes early- they are still on time, per SEPTA. Better make it because those doors never reopen for anyone!

Car vandalism, break-ins, and catalytic converter thefts reported. Several people have been fatally struck by trains here over the years, so be careful to look both ways before crossing the tracks! Traffic is almost always congested if you are coming from Huntingdon Pike. The nice neighborhood is slowly degenerating as lower class people move in. Many local shops within walking distance.

There are lots of parking options…read more On the toward West Trenton direction there is a super large dollar per day lot (free on weekends) and there is a number of spots on the street for free! There is also a lot across from the church where you can park for free. On the side that goes to Center City, there is only a monthly permit lot. There is a small area that is warm and available for waiting when it gets cold. The ticket office is open from 5:30 AM to 11:30 AM during the week and manned by Joe, a kind old man who is very helpful in answering all your train and parking questions. Would be great if they opened a starbucks or something here too.

My only feedback would be to make the stop in glen mills longer than 30 mins - we had just settled into the adorable winery and began relaxing when it was time to go back to the train. It felt rushed, but otherwise it was a nice experience overall.

The passenger cars are older, but in solid shape. Nothing too luxurious or alluring, but still pretty comfortable. The Glen Mills station is a nice place to get out and stretch your legs a little and grab a photo or two. Not necessarily one of most exciting tourist railroads in Pennsylvania, but worth checking out if you want to ride different lines and are in the area.
