Same as it ever was…read more That's the kind of the feeling that I get every time I catch a train at this station as I've been doing it since 198???, a very long time. Sure over the years things have been fixed up, upgraded and improved but at the core it's still the same old, now, 113 year old building. The future looks bright for Lansdale with a new parking structure coming that will increase the amount of available spaces by over 300 to around 900 and Septa is going to replace the area's traction power system which they inherited from the Pennsylvania Railroad that dates back to the '30's. What this type of investment means is that both SEPTA service and the station are going to be around for many years to come which is something that I look forward to as anytime I need to go to Center City this is my preferred way of doing it.

The station itself is non-existent except for something akin to a bug shelter. There is no ticket office and there is only a money box for you to insert quarters (or an envelope for money). Following the directions on the SEPTA website, I did park my car for several nights at this station as I took the train to the airport - you basically need to insert an envelope and check into the parking payment thing that clearly states your car and how many nights you will be parked. Seems a bit primitive given our technology these days, but hey it worked! This is also the last stop in Zone 3, so anything beyond this is Zone 4 pricing which is a few bucks higher.

There is parking but it's normally filled up with people commuting towards Philly. If you do want to park there, make sure to take quarters with you (4 to be exact) and find the big, thin, inconspicuous box with coin slots to drop in your quarters into the appropriate number to pay for parking. It's $1/day so that's nice. Also, make sure to take with you cash to pay for your fare because the train conductors don't take credit cards. Trains are normally not on time (aka late anywhere from 2-3 mins to 15-20 mins). This is what passes as public transportation here.

The vending machine is appreciated. In the winter, they have a few heat lamps by the tracks, which is a nice touch. During business hours, you also have the option to sit inside to avoid the weather. The new structure to get to the tracks is fine but the elevators don't always work. I've carried heavy suitcases up and down stairs for elderly people on multiple occasions because of this. Honestly I don't fault the station workers at all. They're doing the best they can. Amtrak and SEPTA need more funding. This place is basic. There's literally only one platform but I notice a lot of first time riders getting confused, maybe because it's Amtrak and SEPTA combined? I would suggest adding more signage.

We traveled from PHL airport to Warminster upon arrival, rode to 30th Street station (from Warminster) to visit the Mutter Museum, took Septa to Fern Rock then the Broadway subway to the stadium for an Eagles Game (GO BIRDS!) and finally Warminster back to PHL to fly home. Each ride was SPECTACULAR! Friendly and knowledgeable conductors, clean cars, and a smooth (cost effective) ride. It was extremely easy, safe and an enjoyable experience all around! I wish the train system's maps and stations were displayed better. The sound system on the trains could be a little louder and decipherable, too. I had to watch the map on my phone to figure out where I was because a map wasn't displayed in the car and I couldn't hear the conductor when he spoke. Keep your ticket or your phone app out. And it's less than 20 minutes on the train to Center City 30th street station where you can get connections to other areas in PA and NJ and NYC Penn Station. And it only costs $8.75 one way. This train comes every 2x an hour at the 7 and 37 min after the hour like 10:07am and 10:37am. The ticket master will come around and stamp it and you have to keep it when you get off to get out at the turnstile. This is probably the easiest public transportation airport and the most economical way to get downtown from the airport w it being under $10 so you can avoid Uber and Lyft and use the money for food like hoagies and cheesesteaks.

You are better off getting a taxi or private car for the time it would take to make connections for the airport.

She approached me and offered advice for which ticket to purchase with the new SEPTA key, how much to purchase down to the penny to ensure every pass I use will deduct down to zero instead of some odd amount, and how to register my card and get $4.95 back. Surprised how easy she made it. Subway car came on schedule, was clean with seating, had AC, and was much quicker than the T in Boston. Station was typical to expect for public transit in a non financial or tourist area: its a little dirty outside the gates and has its regulars around the station.

I often stop to visit with my oldest friend -- we were in high school together, she as a teacher (no, all wholesome, nothing risque). For that matter, I enjoy the city in general. It is great in its own right, overlooked because it is between the financial capitol and the political capitol of the nation, but it has museums (including the Mutter and the Rosenbach and now the Barnes), sports, music, and fine dining. The whole station is undergoing a multi year renovation. I assume they will upgrade the lounge as at Moynihan to the north, or perhaps they will rip out the benches as at Union Station to the south. The space is very long. You can easily find privacy to work or nap; I have never seen it crowded. There are two bonus features worth mentioning. The first is the conference room. You can reserve it for free. I have seen solo workers camped out, with equipment and papers spread out on the table. The second is the elevator system. They announce the trains. You can ride down to the platform, bypassing any need to line up. I regard 30th Street Station as another reason to like Philadelphia. The lounge is part of that.

The concierge announced that our train was arriving ten minutes ahead of time and put us on a private elevator that exits out onto the concourse.
