In 2012, I went from Killeen, TX to Michigan via Amtrak, and I had a great experience seeing America's landscape through the moving train windows. I wanted my husband to have the Amtrak experience, so I booked us a round trip fare from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa. As a Travel Agent, I feel that it is important to experience travel in different ways. We arrived about three hours before our departure. I went and spoke with the young man at the window, he asked for the passengers names, and checked us in. He then checked in our luggage and we were done until boarding time. The bathroom at the Fort Lauderdale station is only for Amtrak passengers. A worker must buzzed you inside. The bathroom is a single toilet and sink. There's spray for keeping the bathroom fresh. The train arrived on time. Passengers were separated by stations. Those going or coming from Tampa all sat in the same cars. Loading and unloading passengers has a very limited timeline, so larger families/groups are boarded first, ending with single passengers boarding last. Prior to the arrival at each terminal, passengers are asked to be ready to disembark by making sure their carryons are ready before arrival, and passengers are lined up for disembarkation. The seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room. The cafe food is microwaved but not bad if you need something to eat. I tried the cheeseburger and my husband had the veggie burger, and he said it was good. On our return trip, I ordered a veggie sandwich from the Publix across the street from the Tampa Amtrak location. Both times, the trains arrival and departure was on time. The ride each way is about 4.45 hours.

I witnessed one of your employees aggressively confront a woman to the point where she was visibly shaken. His behavior was unprofessional, unnecessary, and clearly driven by a sense of authority rather than customer service. I strongly recommend removing him from any customer-facing role and placing him in a position that does not require direct communication with the public.

I can only rate this as a non-rider. When looking for an easy and affordable way to have elderly friends come and visit me, Amtrak provided our best option based on the logistics. I was able to purchase tickets in advance, in their name and have them waiting for pick up at their local station. They provided ID and were here in 4 hours. I picked them up at my local station, TPA, and they stayed 4 nights and were back home that same week. The station was an old historic building that had beed refurbished. They were pleasant, informative and on time. Parking was very easy both times with a short walk to the tracks. I am now considering travel on Amtrak as well.

Amtrak is a good option for travelers who are looking for a more environmentally friendly, relaxing, and scenic way to travel. However, it is important to be aware of the potential for delays and cancellations, and to factor in the cost of food and beverage when planning your trip. I booked my ticket online. They have a snacks and food for sale.

There was a band playing...we knew this in advance and purposely got to the Centennial station prior to the start time so we could get a good spot and ride for as long as we wanted. The band was Row Jomah and will be playing at GMF this year. There was a GMF rep on board promoting the event. I'm not sure why - it seems like it's over packed every year anyway (I've been every year since inception). But I digress.... The band was awesome, the ride was so much fun, we got off when they were done and went back to James Joyce for another drink. Rode the streetcar back to downtown where our cars were and had such a great time! Need to ride the streetcar more often!!!

The Streetcar takes you from Ybor City to Tampa Downtown. It runs every 12 minutes and it was an easy way to get from Ybor to Tampa. We actually stayed about 20 minutes away but took an Uber to the train station daily once we found out how convenient it was to travel this way. I highly recommend staying outside of Tampa and using the Streetcar. My only gripe was that it was 98+ degrees daily and many of the operators of the cars did not have the AC running. I was shocked when we boarded trains where the air wasn't running.
