I've been meaning to try Ami's (I believe it says "Amy's" on the outside sign) since it's right around the corner from my boyfriend's place. Situated in the Best Yet market plaza, it could be very easy to miss! My back and shoulders have been killing me for weeks, and I finally decided to give Ami's a go. The foot massage chairs up front were all fully occupied with people getting foot massages ($28 for an hour), complete with a guy snoring away. I was lead to one of the back rooms with a massage table. They pulled the curtain to give me some privacy to shed my clothes (there were handy hooks on the side to hang them up), and laid face down to enjoy my massage. The massage started with me under a thick towel, with pressure points being pressed through the towel. Then it progressed with oils and hot towels and even hot stones!! Amazing. I wasn't super thrilled with the massage but didn't want to make a fuss about it so gave her an 8$ tip. The guy at the front desk who's been there for years (I think his name is Chew) he said 10$. I was confused thinking maybe I owed 10$ extra so asked him to explain. He said "10$ leave the girl". I responded with "excuse me?" If you have a preference (how much strength) or problem areas like knots or tightness, the best thing to do is communicate before the massage begins. They have these two leather seats right behind the wall and give you a warm towel to cover your eyes. Terrible terrible experience here. I was going two times a month at this place and the last few times have been terrible. My massage was more painful then relaxing. I actually have a bruise from where I was being "massaged". Then when I went to pay I was stared at by both the masseuse and cashier until I gave a tip, which after I had given her she began COUNTING in front of me and as I was walking out the cashier said that my tip wasn't good enough and to give more, uh excuse me WHAT!?
