Unbelievable. We've been to many dentist offices in San Francisco and never -ever- had an experience like we did at Dr. Tran's office. 1. In November 2021, Dr. Tran determined my husband needed a crown to cover a root canal (reason we schedule the appt) and 2 fillings. Dr. Tran said that he needed a cleaning first. Fine. 2. In January 2022, he had the cleaning. He was told he had to wait weeks before doing the work. Fine. 3. Today, February 2022, he shows up only to find out they were going to the fillings. Fine. 4. Dr. Tran CHANGES her mind to not do the fillings and to do the crown because she doesn't want us to pay more. Not fine. 5. We find out that they didn't authorize insurance approval for the crown, even though we were told he was approved for all of it in January. 6. Now we're going to have to wait weeks for approval for the crown. Dr. Tran, you should not be worrying how much we are going to pay. Let patients worry about that. The concern and priority should be about the teeth! We've doing the song and dance since it's November. How can you feel good about putting a patient through this? And how can you tell the front desk to only put the approvals through for the 2 fillings and not the crown? That does not make sense when the reason we scheduled the appt back in November was for the crown. I guess if you need routine care like teeth cleaning, then this practice is okay. If you need specialized work, then seek other practices who are more competent. Not just nice. read more

I was forced to find a new dentist after many years and was very anxious about the transition. Dr. Tran was gracious and empathetic to my concerns and needs and most importantly she and her staff treated me with respect and the concern that I thought was a lost art in the dental business. Customer service WIN! I've been a patient of Dr Tran for a few years now and always pleased. Nice relaxing waiting area. No institution chairs here, it's a small family room. Free wifi and magazines available. Most of the examination rooms have a view of the park across the street. There are also magazines and tv's in the rooms. Honest opinion about your dental status and your oral hygiene. If you need work beyond your basic cleaning and checkup, you will be given a easy to understand printed treatment plan. If you need major work, all credit cards are available as well as financing. I was late for my most last appointment, when I called Jenny to explain, there was no "attitude" in her voice. When I finally arrived, i was treated professionally with no badgering for being late. Finding a incredibly healthcare provider who suits your wants and needs is a daunting process. Luckily, I didn't have to look very hard. I have seen Dr. Tran multiple times over the past year and a half for my annual cleaning. At each appointment, she remembers me and always makes light conversation, making me feel incredibly welcomed and valued. She will compliment my teeth (although to be honest, they are less deserving of her praise!) and give me recommendations on how to better take care of them. The staff is exemplary as well. They are energetic, compassionate, and always welcoming towards each and every patient. I absolutely enjoy coming to the dental office to get my teeth cleaned and ensure they are healthy, but more importantly, I love the environment and people who work there. I had a really bad toothache that was keeping me up at night. I was taking so much Tylenol I started googling "liver failure symptoms." I was embarrassed, but it finally broke down and called after finding Dr. Tran on good ol' Yelp. It said she was good with children, and I knew I was going to be a big baby in her dentist chair. They squeezed me in that afternoon, explained everything from billing to the procedure (emergency root canal...yuck!) with such great detail, and made me feel so at ease! I was all teary when explaining my problem and they took so much time with me! I felt like I was the only patient there! I cannot recommend this office enough! They didn't even make fun of me when I told them of my google escapade! I walked out with no pain and a huge smile on my face! If you are a nervous dentist-goer, look no further! I'm very particular about the dentist I go to--so much that I had periods where I just didn't go for my regular screening and cleaning because I just did not want to return. Sometimes I feel like they've rushed through the work and other times I feel like they're overbilled my insurance for what I thought was just a routine procedure! Not with Dr. Tran. Being in Woodland is a bit out of the way for me as a resident of Sacramento, but it's worth the drive. Who writes a Yelp on a dentist?? So here is my experience. Driving to the dentist my anxiety is so high I feel like throwing up and passing out. I finally arrive and stomach up enough courage to enter the doors. I'm greeted by two lovely ladies, one with her Starbucks that makes me think, "Man I should have gotten one of those." Finally sit down with all my 2 pages of paperwork that only half needs filled out, why? Because they already did the work for me! About a 3 minute wait and Kara calls me to the back...here it comes oh lord help me!! With a huge calming smile Kara introduces herself and she can obviously see my anxiety but that is quickly subsiding with just her conversing about daily tasks of mom-ing with me. After the 400 million pictures of my teeth and feeling like a movie star, Dr. Amy arrives. All I can say is that after 20+ years of avoiding the dentist, I'll never do it again! I LOVE this group!!! They are honest, friendly, and calming! They work with you to get a game plan in place and are helping me to be healthy and save my smile!!!! I had a infection under my wisdom tooth, and an infection under the tooth in front of the wisdom tooth and i had been putting it off and dealing with the pain for over a month. One Friday the pain was almost unbearable and i called Dr. Tran's office having never been there before. Dr. Tran made time for for me in between patients and actually ended up staying late to get me out of pain. I was very nervous about the procedure since i hadn't been to a dentist in over 5 years, Dr. Tran could sense that i was nervous and made sure that i was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. I had to have the wisdom tooth pulled and the other tooth drilled out and cleaned. The entire experience was great! There was a TV to watch in the room while i was waiting and the assistants were very thorough with explaining the procedures and answering all of my questions. The price was very reasonable and wayyyyy less than the other woodland dentist that i saw a couple weeks prior. I was extremely satisfied with the entire process and would recommend Dr. Tran to anyone! I definitely have found my dentist and have conquered my fear of dental work, thanks to Dr. Tran! Dr. Tran is the best dentist of my life, and I'm 61 years old. She's also the best dentist of my father's life, and he's 97. My father avoided dental care for many years due to past experiences of pain, so when Dr. Tran first saw him he had multiple tooth and gum issues. He's also a gagger with a very low threshold for pain. Dr. Tran has an almost hypnotic way of inviting her patients to be calm and well-informed. She explains dental health and procedures well and is so generous with her time and talents. Her staff is highly competent, efficient and polite. I never thought I'd be writing a review for a dentist. I mean, a dentist is a dentist, right? NO. I was in pain. And I mean EXCRUCIATING pain. Didnt wanna go, figured I'd wait it out cuz dental stuff fixes itself right?? (Lol, again NO). Anyway, I couldnt wait a minute longer. Went on Yelp and saw some great reviews for this dental office and figured I'd call and see if they'd let me in that day. A really nice woman named Jennifer answered the phone and assured me that she could fit me in at 2:15 that day (on a Friday no less!!). Spent the next few hours worrying about this appointment (almost to the point of throwing up lol), but finally made it. Was greeted by Jennifer and promptly called back by a super nice hygienist (wish I could remember her name!!). A few very gentle xrays were taken, then Dr. Tran came in. She was SO sweet (but not the overly gross kinda sweet. This was genuine, put-you-at-ease sweet). She explained what was going on (which wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be), and we made a plan to fix the issue. I left feeling still in pain but SO MENTALLY relieved that the pain was bearable. Seriously. That pain subsided (thank god...cuz I was about to jump off a cliff lol) and on Saturday (the day after my appt), Dr Tran called to see how I was doing. WHO DOES THAT?! She actually cares...which means the world to me. I will NEVER see another dentist again. She is the bees knees, for sure!!! Her costs are in line with everyone else. There is no way around the high cost of ANYTHING. However, a calming office environment with killer staff who actually care is priceless. PRICELESS!! I seriously love these people :) read more

I love how she created a treatment plan for me, broken down into visits, starting with the most urgent issues. I had an exposed root in my molar that needed an emergency root canal and I had let it go until one day I was in the worst pain of my adult life. The first place that came up on Google, was this place. So I called and explained my situation (which also includes not having dental insurance), and they said that Dr. Amy Tran could see me that same day. I took my kids there for regular check up and cleaning when I just moved here. My kids did not like the way Dr. Tran clean their teeth. Seem like she was in a hurry and just wanted to rush out there. In addition it was over diagnosed. We brought the kids back to our old dentist that we had been there for years and he told us that all her treatments recommeded here were not needed. We decided to go back to our old dentist even it"s 11/2 hours away. read more

Husband and I went there based on customer reviews and unfortunately we did not have the experience to what the other patients have had. The most unfortunate part is that my husband had the work done only to find himself being awaken at night by the pain on the tooth she worked on. The case went from mild bearable pain to need to see another dentist ASAP! I have always been truly afraid of going to the dentist and did much to avoid it (as the many fillings in my neglected teeth attest. When we moved to Woodland a friend recommend Dr. Tran and we have been seeing her for over 13 years now. She is extraordinary! Yes, she is a sweet, gentle and caring individual, but her real strength is he outstanding skill as a dentist. I DON'T EVEN TAKE A TRANQUILIZER when I go to her (well, maybe a little for crown prep).
