Love this little park. They just renovated the playground. New equipment and mulch. Got rid of the sand!

Small playground for babies. Ample space to climb, slide, and swing. Close to restrooms & drinking fountain.

Adventure Park. It has an early-'90s water-park ring to its name, and while parts of it look like they're from the early '90s, it's just a plain old park with athletic fields, a gym, green space, and some sparse picnic tables. And what would a Whittier-area park be without its obligatory random ravine and/or concrete drainage area? In this case, said concrete drainage area is dangerous-looking for kids and runs right through the park at a right angle. It's fenced off, and there are helpful bridges to cross it, but I wonder why they sited it through the park rather than on one end of it. I'm sure some kids have adventures here, because all parks with grass and play equipment can be fun and create childhood memories. But Whittier has spoiled me with its parks, and while this is technically South Whittier so it's outside of Whittier's borders, it's still close enough that it should feel like a Whittier park, and it most certainly does not. Why? Because it's totally flat. And totally rectangular. When my parents were walking twice a day during COVID lockdowns/curfews, I suggested they visit this park to change up their rotation, which comprised only two or three parks at the time. They said it was OK, and I later came with my mom and realized why it wasn't their favorite. The concrete path isn't totally straight, so there's some variety, but there isn't much shade along the path. There's lots of parking, and it serves its purpose as a neighborhood park, but it could be so much better.

There's also an area that goes into urban runoff and the rain garden. It's a small but cute park with a basketball court and a playground on one side. I would have stayed longer, but it was really warm, even in the late afternoon.

The playground itself was clean and we had no issues with any of the kids. Love that they have a baby area too. They left you cater your own food. They also help with some set up and some break down. Our group had a blast! We liked the idea of an enclosed party space since we have so many kids in our family/friend group. There is like a 100 people limit though (including kids) as they don't have a lot of sitting space. We brought extra tables and chairs to help with that which wasn't a big deal. We felt everything was clean and I see them actively cleaning the place when we left too for the next party. We would come back again.

Kids were jumping into the ball pits, and much older children were playing in the toddler area. My son was nearly jumped on twice because there was no supervision or enforcement of age-appropriate play areas. I don't care that admission was free because there was a private party later that day--I would gladly pay for a cleaner, safer, and better-managed environment for my child. Unfortunately, many of the parents seemed completely unconcerned with their children's behavior. The level of disrespect and lack of supervision from some families made the experience even worse. I would not recommend this place or return in its current condition. It's unfortunate because, with proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety enforcement, it could actually be a very cute place for kids to play. I had no time to take photos because I really had to watch my child then grab them to leave asap.

Not sure if wearing sandals made a difference, but with him being 4 now he was able to navigate it quite easily. Someone brought a ton of water balloons when we visited so that was a huge hit. The ice cream man always tends to visit and someone from The City of La Habra seems to be seated at tents there. The park part is okay - again, feels a little dangerous when wet kids are mingling with the dry ones and slip on things, but maybe that's just me! The last time we were there there was a guy who seemed homeless just kind of sitting in the park area so we left once my son was done with the water side. Parking is a toss up - we parked at the museum across the street and walked over. Pretty easy, but sometimes we're lucky and get a spot on the street right by the splash pad. I do like that the splash pad is complete enclosed by a gate though! It's a fun place to visit and it's mostly (if not all the way) shaded for the kids. Certain parts of the seating for guardians gets blasted by the son, but the kids seem pretty protected from the rays!
