Heritage Park holds such a sentimental value in our hearts. It's where we find refuge when we have a stressful day or when we just want to catch some shade during our morning walks. It is also the place I took my senior dog Max on walks when his health declined and no longer was able to join me on our hikes. It is also the place my son thought for a quick photoshoot when we picked up his high school letterman jacket. So many more memories to consider but these are the ones that I will always hold dear to my heart. Thank you Santa Fe Springs for maintaining this beautiful, majestic landmark. read more

Beautiful park that is hidden in the middle of an industrial area. Shaded paths for walking. The grounds were well cared for. There were lots of squirrels running around, and an aviary with birds! I really want to keep this park a secret! It's a hidden gem in such an unsuspecting business park location in the middle of of Santa Fe Springs. Most people haven't even heard of SFS and if they have it's mostly known for commercial business rather than beautiful scenery. This park is so serene, even on a weekend! It's gated with two sides for entry so it's open during certain hours. The park hosts a few events during the year but if you visit on a random day, you're likely to find yourself enjoying the history of the park, the area and the peacefulness nature brings. read more

Great Park to take your family too. We went there for the Heritage festival, which is the Hawaiian festival that comes there every May. They even have a railroad museum across the street. There's a lot of street parking although it might be a bit difficult if there's a festival like Heritage festival, they even had an aviary that had cockatiels love birds doves, and I believe it was also a female Peacock a lot of history in that park. There are some structures that were old homes that are no longer in existence except for a fireplace. read more

Beautiful park in the middle of a business park. Such a random location! I suspect that the businesses built around this park, and I love that it provides the neighborhood with a space to walk and enjoy nature. There is an aviary, greenhouse, a stream, and some historical buildings. I was here for the Heritage of Aloha Festival and it was well run: there were many vendors, food stalls, and wonderful shows from local halaus. I loved walking around the park and looking at the different features of the park. Great place to enjoy a picnic. A must stop if you're in the area! read more

I spent the weekend at Heritage Park for the annual Heritage of Aloha Festival. This event is ran by the Hoolina foundation. This festival is to celebrate, share amd purpetuate the Hawaiian and Pacific Islander culture. There is food, vendors, music and entertainment all weekend long. The park is lovely and there are many unique attributes to this park for example there is a train station, an aviary, an archaeological dig site and much much more. For this event I had to park on the street however there is limited parking lot parking I'm sure during the week when there's not a big event going on. The main stage during our event is held in the biggest part of the park where there is a clearing. The stage is set and while spectators sit on the lawn it creates a very intimate experience. I look for this event every year and I volunteer with a nonprofit sharing events and goings-on in the Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian communities. On Sunday the event planners were honored by the mayor of Santa Fe Springs with a official declaration as well as a plaque. If you were interested in learning more about the Polynesian culture and the Heritage of alohau I would make an effort to check it out next year! read more

Want to take a nice stroll through a peaceful park with history? Take a walk through Heritage Park. You walk through the park on a path way and can walk down a dirt road that shows old huts made from straw. As you walk you can see other historical buildings and there is even a pit with animal bone remains. It was said to be the people's trash and scraps that they would dispose of. There is a huge cage full of birds that you can stand and admire. They also have a sitting area where you can sit and enjoy your lunch and the restrooms are very clean. March 2023 Pictures don't do justice to this place. Located in Santa Fe Springs near an industrial area. Private lot open to the public during business hours. A lot closer to the park has access to the botanical gardens. A lot away from the park has access to the train museum. I opted to start the walk near the park and ended up at the trains. There is visible signage requiring advance notice for photos. The entrance has a large windmill building with a fountain that leads into the garden. Each area has signed with the history of the land. Towards the back, there is an area with different birds in a cage. Overall a well-kept park with ample areas for a picnic or stroll. read more

Another wonderful venue we learned of in the Passport 2 History program. We made the jaunt to Santa Fe Springs just to go here, plus hoped to see Hathaway Ranch the same day. Only Heritage Park was open the day we went. We almost didn't get our sticker for the passport, because the office us only open during weekdays. There was a staff member who was there to open gates, like to the locomotive exhibit, and keep an eye on things, who found the stickers and helped us out that way. Apparently, the park has a policy about photos for groups, engagements or wedding photos, etc. They are repeated on signs around the park. There was no one in the office to clarify, or ask questions about what the policy means, or what a photo permit would cost. That being the case, people were snapping casual photos of themselves, their family members, and the beautiful features of the park. There are many outbuildings throughout the generously sized park, including a rebuilt carriage house, resplendent with Victorian architectural charm. The antique steam locomotive sits in its own area, across the parking lot from the main entrance. Signs outlining the history of the train's impact on Santa Fe Springs are available in the section. The original mansion burned to the ground some years ago, sadly. A chimney, foundations, and basement area remain, along with signs describing what the home was like back in its heyday. A nearby large aviary structure houses colorful and exotic birds. Various garden areas make strolling the grounds a pleasure, with surprises along the way. An unexpected treat is a sunken garden area, designed to represent a native American village of the Tongva people. Set off with a water course of cascades, pathways and bridges allow for exploration of this special area. There's a lot to explore in the six acres of the park. Step back in time and enjoy the serenity of a bygone era. read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I grew up in Whittier and this place is so close by. I've never heard of it or been here until today. It's so beautiful and there's so many neat things to see. I definitely recommend going into all the buildings and checking out the birds. From a distance they just seem like ordinary birds. If you look closely though, they have a gorgeous pheasant as well as an exotic peacock. From the back it's brown and black but if you look at it head on, the black spots become metallic blue and grey. Incredible! There's streams and the sounds of running water from fountains. So peaceful. I saw families having picnics, there was a group of people celebrating graduation, and even a wedding going on. The possibilities are endless. Plenty of parking, very neat and clean public bathrooms, and it's all FREE!!! I'm telling my friends and family about this place. It's a MUST see. My new fav place. Enjoy!!! read more

Came out here for a festival and the place was packed. Parking - For big events is not the greatest as you just gotta risk parking at businesses near by. Park - Not one of the biggest park but they make it work with beautiful areas to explore. Cool place for kids to walk around and look at some of the historic displays. My friend was so excited. As we opened up the box to see the cupcake inside the balloon almost flew away ! They got stuck in some branches. I ran to the cage where all the birds are ...Help ! !! Grounds keeper Phil was there tending to the birds. I asked if I could use his broom . He said of course. Unfortunately we still couldn't reach them. If I was only 5 feet taller .Along comes Phil to save the day. He just happen to have a ladder and came and grab the balloons. What a sweetheart ! Thank you so much Phil ! Been coming here for years we always do the concerts in the park during the summer. The island in the middle is so cool still being worked on, but great place to take the kids. I bookmarked this park awhile back ago. I finally got the chance to swing by here two weeks ago. Park is located in an odd area; it's behind a corporate office building. The two things that caught my eye were the greenhouse and windmill building. It gives off this vintage vibe. I love historic landmarks and anything old with rich history. I agree with other reviewers. It's not fair to make people pay for photo permits considering it's a public place and park is small. I think the only people who would need to pay would be wedding people (should be already included in their package anyways). But for normal people who just want to take simple photos, it shouldn't be $100. For those who don't know, $100 is considered cheap here because other parks or state park charge around $200-$300 for just engagement photo fees. We already get taxed on our paychecks and stuff we buy. But some parks are allowed to do this because our economy is based on for profit not compassion. Anyways, I didn't get to go inside the greenhouse because it was locked. I honestly think this park can do better. What's up with the plants? Some plants are so hideous. Why not invest in beautiful succulents/herbs/flowers? There are also two beautiful water fountains so this made up for the bad looking plants LOL But I have a plot twist for you. I got bitten by ankle mosquitoes -most likely near the fountains. So be careful guys. I'm still alive, no West Nile virus thank god! Overall, a sign may enforce photo permit but don't let it stop you from taking a photo if you can. Mind you, I didn't see any park ranger near me when I was here. read more

Heritage Park in Santa Fe Springs is like a diamond in the rough. I mean this in terms of pure aesthetics alone. Santa Fe Springs is not a particularly glamorous town... Manufacturing and industrial facilities encompass most of its square mileage. J-o-b-s, people. That's what Santa Fe Springs is all about, and there are seemingly very many hardworking individuals there. Otherwise, it is a very small town compared to the rest of the "Gateway Cities." So, when you approach the streets that lead you to Heritage Park, the scenery changes vastly. It's lovely, actually... Almost as if I am watching scenes from Downtown Abbey (which I have been binge watching with my hubby when time permits), only with paved roads and a slew of signs. Some of the signs are pretty sun-faded and worn out, but the grounds is absolutely refreshing. There are many wonderful trees, some needing the support of steel beams. Flowers are fairly abundant. And more gardens and fountains exist there than you would ever expect. Many people go walking there during their lunch break. Moms like me take their babes for a scenic and discovery stroll along the many walk paths. They are mostly concrete, but I did see one dirt path (but it's a nice grainy dirt). That dirt path is where the Tongva exhibit stands. (Sadly, we didn't get to go down there, but it's the most intriguing aspect of the park!) Other people take a seat on one of many park benches and read or daydream. Some day I will have time to read all of the signs and history about the park. There's more to it than my schedule allowed today (1/7/15). We passed by a bird aviary. Oh, those birds were screeching loud as we passed by! A carriage barn sits on the grounds, which is apparently close to an old adobe foundation, but I didn't get a good gander at that. Signs are everywhere telling you these things. Also, there's a very large windmill building. I'm sure I'm missing other key historic features, but you get the drift. And I also would like to tour the train caboose and boxcars there. (I didn't think it would be possible with a stroller.) There is something about trains, like oceanic vessels, that makes my curiosity run rampant. Lastly, did you know that Santa Fe Springs is the "birthplace" of THE Shelby Cobra? I can only ever remember this fact because I am from New Mexico. Perhaps more popular than Albuquerque is Santa Fe, NM. Anyway... Long live Carroll Shelby! My husband had the wonderful opportunity of meeting that man many years ago. I'm happy to know that his legacy continues to thrive and that this city had a little something to do with it. Visit Heritage Park. She's a beauty. Plus, it's free - aside from snapping photos & having a wedding or other special event there. In that case, see the "Park Ranger" or "office staff." There's plenty of parking in the area. Thirty minutes to an hour will allow the viewing of the entire park on your own terms, but I'm sure it's worthy of a much longer stroll. If you're there that long, hopefully the cafe and restrooms are open for you. Review based on an event hosted her: Came here for the Heritage Aloha Festival. This is such a great venue for this festival. Although it can be a little congested because of the number of people that attends this event. The size of the park housed many merchandise and food vendors, many of which I would have liked to buy stuff from. I only walked away with a few items for myself and really enjoyed the afternoon entertainment. The food was plentiful. I went to the Kane Katering booth and purchased the double portion of kaluah pork, served with mac salad and rice. Beverages were sold at another booth for $2. My friend and I was able to find a small table to enjoy our midday lunch near the cafe. The restrooms were closed for the event, but there were porta-potties available which were pretty clean. Overall enjoyed my day at the Aloha Festival and can't wait to come back next year! At quick glance, it looks like there's a history that is behind this park. It has a greenhouse and what looks like the remains of what used to be a house. It's nestled in the middle of corporate buildings and provides for a nice area for lunch picnics and walks to to relieve some work stress. read more

This park is handicap accessible, has nice and clean restrooms, walkable pathways, and tons of picnic tables. I enjoyed coming here to relax and just simply take refuge. We were here for the Heritage of Aloha festival and wanted to come back on a quieter day to further enjoy the park Really good annual festival, by the way! Plenty of parking, both in their lot and on the street. Much sought-after wedding/reception venue. Little educational museums and a hothouse. An aviary! An area celebrating the Tongva Native American Indian tribe. There's a hut, canoe, story circle and a pond/waterfall. A restaurant with plenty of outdoor patio seating. Plenty of benches to relax on. Restrooms. Dog-friendly. But they must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. There was a poop bag dispenser at the entrance. My most favorite part- a hedge-lined garden courtyard with a fountain and the most wonderful tree. I spent some extra time enjoying the shade of that big tree while the husband went looking for a restroom. The grounds are well-kept. You can tell that this park is lovingly taken care of. Big thumbs up! We'll want to come back every so often for a relaxing visit. read more

This is a beautiful park. It's operated by the city of Santa Fe Springs Library, due to it being a historical site. There is a train exhibit and little building with pictures next to the trains. You can rent out the caboose to have a lil part of your party inside. It has picnic tables and canopies right next to the retired trains. There's also a Tongva village (replica) in honor of the local tribe that once inhabited this area. There is a historical glass casing that has bones from the family who settled in this area and on this property at one time. Clear signage and pictures to give you and idea of the way it used to be there. It has a carriage house and next to that are restrooms and the Heritage cafe which had limited hours of operation, as does this park. There is a very mini path/trail that has a man made stream. This place has beautiful trees and plants and flowers. Great setting for a large event or wedding!!! They even have a aviary to check out. read more

This review is for the reservation process for a wedding venue in Heritage Park. The management style at the park offices is subpar, to say the least. I arrived on Monday, June 1st at 6 AM in order to make line for the wedding venue reservations. The offices open at 9AM but I heard the line gets very long quite early. So I arrived at roughly 6AM and there were about 10-12 parties already in line, with chairs and blankets, some of who had camped out THREE days prior (since Friday). The parking lot is not open before the operating hours and some couples had been sitting in their cars on the street parking since 4AM under the impression that the line wasn't open yet. Except it was. They just had to walk through the parking lot and into the park itself to see all the campers waiting outside. As a result of this misunderstanding, these couples lost valuable spaces in line. The parking lot sign is extremely faded and falling apart, it's difficult to even read. But the line IS open. Fortunately, I took a chair to sit in as the line was going to be a few hours. At about 8 am they opened another fence and everyone moved closer to the building to make line there. At about 9:10AM an employee walked out with applications for the people standing in line. At this point, there are still over 12 parties ahead of me in line. The applications stopped being distributed about 7 people before me. The office helped about 4 parties in the course of an hour and a half. Meanwhile, everyone is still waiting in line. There is absolutely NO COMMUNICATION between the management office and the people in line. No one walking outside to tell us how many days are left, if any, in June. It was the couples walking out of the office who relayed some bits of information to those in line. If the days we're seeking aren't available, why make us stand in line anymore? Someone should at least walk out with updates every couple of people. But of course, it's in their best interest to keep people waiting in line so they won't get discouraged and leave. In addition, another couple in line shared their difficulty with the management office. Apparently, they had scheduled an appointment in advance to tour the venue and the tour guide never showed up. Lucky for them, a park ranger happened to be available during that time and he showed them around a bit. But for a Heritage Park employee to just not show up like that? How unprofessional. Not to mention, the severe lack of information the office is willing to give you when you call them with questions. They won't relay much if you give them a call. If you really want to make sure you get the date you want, I would suggest being one of the first 3 people in line (which means you'll have to camp out). Otherwise, it may not even be worth your time to go the morning of the reservations. Even though the offices open at 9AM, you may be seen as late as NOON time. I personally find this way of doing business to be very strange. I don't see why, given this experience, I should pay any money to this facility for any event. They have proven that they show no respect or consideration for the couples trying to gather information, for those who show up with appointments and are blown off, and the couples who go as far as making line. Why make it this difficult to book a wedding event? It's not Versailles, for crying out loud. I wouldn't set my sights too high on this place. Good luck on your ventures, Yelpers. read more
