I found that at Indigo Moon Yoga. I walked there from my hotel near the Kitsap Ferry Terminal. It's a small town; it takes very little time and effort to get anywhere, and Indigo Moon Yoga was super easy to find and accessible. Kathleen greeted me with a smile, asked some friendly questions that would help her get to know me and my practice, and made sure I had everything I needed for a great session (a level 2/3 Vinyasa class). I had no trouble following her as she led us through asanas and I left the class feeling really refreshed. It's a beautiful studio that is thoughtfully organized and well cared for. There's good space to stash your bag, a well-appointed bathroom, shelves of clean, new props (not the ratty, hairy, sticky or otherwise beat-to-hell props I've run into at other studios), and Kathleen has added lots of great extra touches like tea after class, or a bite of Godiva chocolate to take out the door. It was clear to me that the guiding principles of compassion, connectivity and community aren't just words that sound good on a website. I think Indigo Moon Yoga walks the walk, y'all. You should go there. Work on your practice and support a local business, Bremertonians. I want to be able to re-visit Indigo Moon Yoga the next time I'm in town.

Honestly, being cued correctly and being corrected when I'm out of alignment or in the wrong position have kept me from injury. Reformer Pilates has changed my life, I love it! I took a few private lessons with Amanda as my intro to pilates. She and the lessons were so amazing, I've been hooked ever since. When I'm in town, I come to the studio fairly consistently and my body has been transformed, completely snatched. I feel my workouts all over, every atrophied muscle has been awakened. I was excited to take a barre class since they had a barre in the studio. The class I took was more…read moreof a mat class with some weights. When I asked the instructor at the end of class if she could recommend a barre class time at the studio that is more traditional and uses the barre, the response was we all do different classes all the time. It felt very dismissive and I felt very unwelcome to try another barre class. I think a class titled barre in a studio with a barre would use the barre. I was willing to try other classes but the instructors response and her mentioning during class while using weights" this is the cheapest boob job you will ever get" has left me feeling this is not the environment that is inclusive or focused on mind body connection vs. just outward appearance. I also took a pilates mat class and neither of the instructors offered any modifications.
