Yoga at this studio is a must for self care! The energy is calming and truly healing. The teachers are professional, warm and knowledgeable.

The education provided was well-rounded and focused on so much more than asana, or the physical practice, of yoga.

We signed up for the new student deal they offered which I thought was great. Did a Friday class…read morewith my partner. We both signed up for the deal they offered. The environment was inviting and we actually really enjoyed the class. Unfortunately the location was not idea. We came out to a broken window. Ruined the experience and never returned. So yes please check out Expand Yoga but beware of the area. Not safe at all, as this was not a one time event it happens weekly.

I had the oddest experience ever at Expand yoga in Federal Way yin class with Tomio. I wanted to…read morerun for the door the first 5 minutes of class and it continued to get worse and more uncomfortable as the 90 minutes went on. He has Palilala or a form of OCD, which requires him to repeat every cue multiple times in a row for every single change in his long, slow cues. He has a hard time explaining how to get into each position and it takes him multiple times to repeat the same sentence before he can move on with his next direction. It's very frustrating for the students who are trying to go from one pose to the next and listen to a long series of repetitive sentences after each pose. Not only did that make me realize how hard it was to relax in yin class, he also made multiple poses feel very uncomfortable with odd comments. He mentioned how one position was good if you are currently on your menstrual cycle. Then he said, "If you aren't currently on your cycle, don't worry because you will be someday". Keep in mind that the class had quite a few men. I was just trying to figure out why an instructor would say that. Then, he started talking about how we need to thank our colons during a different pose. He said, "say, thank you, colon", and then he started talking about how he had a colonoscopy. I thought that the class was giving me weird vibes at the beginning. It just kept getting worse and worse. I guess everyone has different ways of teaching, but social awareness and self awareness are important as an instructor. I may try a different instructor, but this time made me never want to go back.
