Me sitting in the middle of nowhere writing a letter to my parents

I attended this program from December 30th 2021 to February 3rd 2022. Throughout this "therapy" I got severely malnourished, isolated for being transgender, had my medication for birth control screwed up by one of the trail walkers who looked to be in her mid-late twenties. They gave depressed kids knives, rope, and plenty of instances where we could've easily jumped to our deaths. That was DEFINITELY a good idea. The staff kept informing my parents about how I was having full body tremors but wouldn't actually do anything to fix the issue, same with one of the girls who was constantly cutting herself with the multiple knives this program gave us, they sure as hell didn't help her. Also since I'm a transgender guy (ftm) I was forced to be in the girls group which made me and everyone else quite uncomfortable especially one of the other people who had dealt with rape from an uncle, she wasn't having a happy time with me there because of my mere presence, I felt really bad for her. I also remember crying and screaming on multiple occasions because I felt physically exhausted but noooo we had to keep walking even though I had joint problems that they already knew about. My "therapist" there kept questioning me on why I wanted to let the pedophiles who groomed me kill me, it was our 5th time meeting... she wouldn't even stop even though I was hyperventilating and crying. She definitely wasn't certified, I wasn't even sure if she'd gone to school for psychology. I hugged my mom when I first saw her after getting out of that place, I even hugged my dad! I hated that old man but it was better than staying at that program. Please don't send your children here it's not safe, even now after working through the trauma that place brought me I still have occasional flashbacks from being there. They wouldn't let us have any hygiene products not even toothpaste or hand sanitizer, I now have a pretty big fear of feeling dirty thanks to the Anasazi foundation. They weren't helpful to me, considering I relapsed in under a month after I got back.

The therapists, teachers, and instructional assistants are deeply committed to supporting children with disabilities, and it is clear that my boys are genuinely cared for and valued each day they are at LIFE. The ABA program is exceptional and has far exceeded our experiences with previous programs. Many of LIFE's leaders are Board Certified Behavior Analysts, and a significant number of staff members are Registered Behavior Technicians, which speaks to the quality, expertise, and integrity of the program. I wholeheartedly recommend LIFE to any family seeking a supportive, professional, and compassionate environment for children with intellectual disabilities.

He smiles every day while walking to class, and tells me "go play" on his aac device, which he refused to use for me, until he started going here. I have yet to get a call saying I need to come get him because he wet through his clothes, I get to see pictures of all the fun activities they do, and his teacher let's me know if she finds new things he likes so I can get them for home. I have heard so many people say they have been on the waiting list for years, and I am just so happy that he got in within 9 months. It was definitely worth the wait, and also very worth the drive, we come from Florence.

We live over an hour away, when I arrived I was told there was nothing scheduled. Why wouldn't you have just told me that over the phone before we made an hour commute. They just seem very unorganized as a facility. It honestly just felt very insensitive and I'm relieved it went the way it did because now I know that is not the place I would want my child to receive care from.

BloomKidz has TRULY changed our lives. Our daughter, who has a rare and severe neurological…read moredisease, has been attending therapy at BloomKidz for just over three years. The care, knowledge, dedication, and compassion they show every single day is well beyond anything we could have hoped for. Because of BloomKidz, our daughter learned to WALK (!), which was something that once felt so uncertain for our family. She has made tremendous strides in her abilities, confidence, and overall quality of life, and we owe so much of that progress to this once-in-a-lifetime team. I especially want to recognize Sarah (PT) and Jane (BCBA), who have been with our daughter since her very first day. Over the last 3 years, they have poured their hearts into her growth. Their patience, creativity, and unwavering belief in her abilities have made such a meaningful impact on our daughter and our family. Whenever we have questions or need help troubleshooting, they listen and come prepared with ideas. They've taken their own personal time to coordinate care, support us in trainings and equipment meetings, and advocate for our daughter alongside us. These two are STARS, (to say the least!) and we are so grateful to have them leading such important domains of her therapy journey. I want to highlight the incredible RBTs and therapy techs who work with our girlie every day. They have been such a vital part of her progress + development. They take the time to truly learn and understand her unique communication, cues, and needs, and they work diligently to help her reach her goals. Their consistency, attentiveness, and genuine care have made a huge difference in her progress and in her comfort at therapy. The cherry on top: the nursing staff. "Exceptional care" is an understatement. They manage her daily medications with diligence and thoughtfulness, always keeping an extra eye out for symptoms or changes. Knowing our child is supported by nurses who understand her complexity and go the extra mile to ensure her safety gives our family tremendous peace of mind. Last but definitely not least, the owners! Dan and Katie deserve special recognition. None of this would've happened without their vision to bring compassionate, collaborative, meaningful high level care to the disabled community. They are not only compassionate leaders, but true advocates. They consistently go well above normal expectations to ensure she is safe, supported, and receiving the best possible therapy approach in every area. They've helped us through PLENTY of insurance hoops (which are difficult to navigate) and they didn't even bat an eye. They sought out every avenue to help us until it was no longer an obstacle for us. I can't tell you how much that means, especially when we are already at our mental bandwidth so often. Their willingness to collaborate, problem-solve, and support our family over the last 3+ years has been paramount to keeping our daughter at BloomKidz. We live quite far from the clinic location wise, and Dan and Katie have done so much to accommodate our family thru this so that it's still possible for us to get her here daily. Their ability to understand scheduling difficulties and commutes for a big family has been so considerate and valuable to us during our time here. BloomKidz is filled with the most selfless individuals. They have not only helped our girl reach milestones we once only dreamed about, but they have also given our family hope, encouragement, and support during a journey that can often feel extremely overwhelming and isolating. To us, BloomKidz isn't just a therapy clinic: it's a place that believed in her, lifted her up, and helped her SHINE. If you're trying to decide a therapy route in AZ to guide your child to, this would be the one. We are forever grateful for the love, dedication, and extraordinary care they've shown our daughter. We hope she's able to keep growing and developing here for many years to come, as her condition is lifelong and a therapeutic team will always be necessary. We've been blessed with the best in BloomKidz!

When he started at Bloom, he was minimally verbal. Only a few short phrases and they were rarely spoken spontaneously. We started seeing a huge difference in his speech and skills within a few weeks! It has been a little over a year and he is a completely different child. His speech has exploded and has a much easier time expressing his needs. Every member of Gray's team goes above and beyond to work together and communicate with us on his progress. It's incredibly overwhelming to not only find the right kind of care, but manage all of the back and forth admin. The staff has held my hand through all of this. Katie and Dan aren't just founders, they are highly invested in the families- and they make themselves accessible- far beyond what you would expect. I am blown away by the fact that a place like this exists and that my son is fortunate enough to attend. Other skills achieved in his first year at bloom: Went from wearing diapers 24/7 to almost fully potty trained (Just pull ups overnight), went from only being able to play alone to playing with others, able to tolerate having his teeth brushed for 20 seconds, able to greet and name his loved ones spontaneously, increased tolerance when being told no, increased tolerance to noises, and significant increased awareness of others.
