On September 23, 2024, Roseanne Hernandez ordered an MRI of my brain. I received the images the following day and discovered a 6mm adenoma. I had been assured that if anything abnormal appeared on the images, I would be contacted immediately to begin treatment. However, over a week passed without any communication from the office. I left a message and was told I would receive a call back, but my call was never returned. The only correspondence I received was from the billing department--nothing about my imaging results or next steps for care. Frustrated by the lack of communication, I scheduled an appointment with a doctor in the NYU network. This doctor promptly created a treatment plan, emphasizing that neglecting the adenoma could have serious implications for my fertility. It wasn't until December 11--85 days after my MRI results were released--that Roseanne Hernandez finally reached out to discuss the findings. By that time, I had already seen the NYU doctor twice in person and made adjustments to my treatment plan based on their recommendations. read more

Awful People and Office! If this review is removed, it will be reposted and reposted again!!! I initially scheduled an appointment with Dr. Manessis last year and waited approximately three months to be seen. Just prior to my appointment, I was informed via text that I would first be seen by the physician assistant, followed by Dr. Manessis. During the visit, the assistant asked general questions that could have been addressed over the phone. The consultation lasted no more than 7 minutes. After that brief interaction, I was expecting to see Dr. Manessis, but was told I would need to wait another four months for that appointment. I agreed, though it was already frustrating. Then, three days before my new appointment, I received another message saying Dr. Manessis would not be available. They rescheduled again, now I am seen in another month. They contact me again--this time two days before--that I would again be seen only by the assistant. That's when I insisted on seeing the doctor, as my health concerns required more direct attention and there was no reason why I should be seen by assistant again. Its been 7 so far that I am waiting to be seen by this Dr. On the day of the visit, I waited 45 minutes, but Dr. Manessis still did not see me. I chose to leave and requested a refund for my copay, which I have still not received. The front desk staff have shown a repeated lack of professionalism. From excessive wait times to frequent miscommunications, it's clear the scheduling system is disorganized and inefficient. Lady at the front desk incredibly loud, literally screams at the office, distracted by watching dog tik tok videos. Another staff member, the guy, has been dismissive and made the check-in process uncomfortable. He clearly hates his job. Dr. Manessis may spend significant time with some patients, but the office is clearly overbooked and poorly managed, causing long delays and significant inconvenience for others. It's also unacceptable to repeatedly reschedule or replace the physician without proper explanation or timely notice. Huge delays in responses via email or text. Dr. Manessis is an incredibly irresponsible man and clearly thinks he has the right to reschedule patients this many times- meanwhile, we are talking about health issues that need to be addressed in a timely manner. They behave as if they are rescheduling a hair trim at the beauty salon. Expect to wait for a minimum of 1 hour to be seen by the doctor. In my case, he never saw me. I am still awaiting a refund of my $35 copay, and I would appreciate that matter being resolved promptly. There are other good doctors in NYC Please go there. This office is awful read more

I really liked PA Lisa in the Astoria office. SHE MADE ME FEEL NORMAL & validated - THANK YOU. I was struggling with my hormones for what felt like forever & decided to go to Dr. Manessis to compose a plan. As a college student, the first thing he noticed was that I was stressed and all my hormonal problems could be due to excess stress!!! This was true ; however I was experiencing more than just rage, I was experiencing weight gain like CRAZY (could range 5-10 pds), bloating in the face a week before my period & I had no idea what this could be from. I will never forget this appointment where I am crying in the room with my mom, PA Lisa & Dr. Manessis straight up tells me that this isn't possible and he does not believe me. I already feel insane for experiencing these symptoms and then have your doctor tell you it's in your head? lol PA LISA would call me with results & was on top of my charts. She would express her opinions and try EVERYTHING & ANYTHING. I THANK HER ONCE AGAIN, for her bedside manner & taking me seriously. On the other hand, Dr. Manessis tried putting me on antidepressants & told me to seek help from a nutritionist & psychiatrist Here I am, now diagnosed with PMDD ... and I finally know it wasn't all in my head. After going for my annual physical my PCP referred me to a endocrinologist to help me lose weight. She printed me a referral and told me she's sending me to Dr. Manessis because she trusts him. I have tried to make an appointment since the end of July when I did my annual physical. When calling the office the front desk gives you the run around about when and why you cannot be seen on a particular date. Working at a doctor's office myself I do realize that appointments will be booked pretty quickly. However, what I do not understand is the misinformation that I was given when I called. When I called to setup an appointment on a Saturday to accommodate my hectic work schedule I was told that Dr. Manessis does not take new patients on Saturday. I then decided to schedule something during the week preferably around 4:30/5pm right after work I was then told again that Dr. Manessis does not take new patients at that time. Even with me telling the girls who referred me they still didn't budge. Let's not talk about trying to reach them. They never pick up the phone. Also I was told by my PCP that the office called me yet I have no call log or voicemails to verify that they tried reaching me. Well here I am on a Saturday, September 16, 2017 at my appointment that I was told I wouldn't be able to have. I felt bad harassing my PCP to harass Dr. Manessis to give me an appointment. Once I was locked in for my appointment I was called three times to change my appointment time. I just find it ironic that when I initially asked if I could come in earlier instead of 1:30pm I was given a firm no. I was also told that the office is doing me a favor because they do not have appointments on Saturday. Three days later I received a phone call to move it to 12pm. Then yesterday Friday, September 15, 2017 I was asked to come in for 10am. Another thing I don't like is that they take a copy of either your debit/credit card to keep it on file to charge if insurance does not cover the bill or copayments. I did not feel comfortable with this mandatory practice. I asked the front desk to clarify why it is necessary. She insured that my method of payment will not be charged until I received a call from the Billing manager. I waited over an hour to actually be seen by Dr. Manessis. Once I saw him I realized how thorough he actually is and I ended up forgetting how long I waited. Dr. Manessis is informative along with Alexa who gave me a metabolic test. It is difficult to make an appointment /speak to anyone on the phone in this office. After finally getting through to speak to someone, I waited 3 months to see the doctor once I made an appointment since there was no availability any earlier. When I got to my appointment, was told that "the doctor was not in" and that a I would be seen by a Nurse Practitioner. When I expressed my dissatisfaction that I was not notified that the Dr. would not be available for my appointment, I was told that someone had notified me (not true) and that i could schedule an appointment in a few months if i wanted to see the doctor. I ended up waiting for the nurse practitioner for 45 minutes and decided this not the office for me. Will find a new endocrinologist. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Manessis since 2011. He is my third endocrinologist since my thyroid problems started in 2008. My issue with the other 2 doctors- they didn't know or remember me when i went for my visits. I like it when a doctor remembers you and spends time with you. I found Dr. Manessis through my insurance and his location in the city at 275 7th Ave. It was close to my job and his hours were convenient. The issues i have with the 7th avenue office is the wait time before my appointment. I was usually waiting a good 45 min. I realize this now that it's because of the one on one care given by Dr. Manessis and his staff. After all these years, I am willing to wait for him. In 2015 and I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. The professional care and compassion i have received from him and his staff has been above what I could have ever asked for. He calls me back and calms my nerves when I am worried about my test results. His recommendation of the surgeon was excellent as well as Chelsea Diagnostics who perform my scans. Dr. Manessis is what you want and need in an endocrinologist. Currently I am a patient of both the NYC office and Astoria office. read more

I was referred by my cardiologist to see Dr. Manessis due to abnormal thyroid findings on a sonogram. Taking a half day from work to drive into NYC from NJ I was told when I arrived that I'd be seeing a PA. I said that was unacceptable. I asked why I wasn't notified the Dr. wasn't in, her response was a blank stare. The office is condescending, referring to me, a grown woman, as "babe, hun and beautiful" as if "handling me. I returned a week later and met with the Dr. and a PA. He listened to my issues and ordered blood work assuring that we'd get to the bottom of current symptoms. I received disturbing results from the lab a few days later. I waited a week to call. It is impossible to get through to this office. On two consecutive Fridays I was told a PA would call me. No one did. I called back very upset. I called again very upset and PA got on the phone saying he didn't know me so all he could do was reorder my meds and the Dr. would get back to me. It's nearly a month later and I've not heard a word. I've never received such poor, thoughtless, unprofessional care. read more

When making money takes priority over treating patients, something is wrong. I have been using Dr. Manessis for a few years, four times a year, and met him once. All my other contact was with nurses and they change all the time, there is really no continuity, and I was OK with it, really is just to get my medication. Things changed during my last appointment, they canceled​ my appointment made 3 months previously and moved it down three weeks, ok changed my schedule​. Two days before schedule I get a call for confirmation, they proceed to tell me that they will need credit card/debit card on file for them to see me otherwise do not bother to show up. I told them, I always pay my deductible in the office during my visit, so why do they need my credit card. A new policy, they say. I have a credit card/debit card, but those that do not have one, they get no medical treatment? When your doctor priorities​ collecting a $20 insurance deductible​ before your health, it is time to get a new doctor. read more

Great office! I'm not one to write reviews on Yelp - this might be my very first one. I'm surprised that there's not much more here - so I'm writing this for those who were like me and were searching for feedback of some sort for their first visit... so here goes ... the best advice I can give was my first impression and that is don't be put off by the office management's policy on requesting a payment source to be kept on file. That aside, the Staff whether speaking to the Manhattan office manager or in person with the Astoria staff (the office I had my appointment in) the exchange is fantastic- really great people! And what can I say about Dr. Manessis himself - outstanding- a very pleasant experience. It really is refreshing to see a Doctor who not only comes across knowledgeable in his field but addresses you with time and professional compassion (that is a combination one no longer experiences in the medical setting). For my first visit I was pleasantly surprised at the great staff and I'm so grateful to another great doctor (Dr. Viennas) for referring me to this place! Expect a wait - this is not an empty office but all great things are worth the wait.
