I was finally able to try Ancho Honey after visiting the midcoast 2 years in a row. It's recommended to call in your order early in the day or else they sell out, especially if it's a fried chicken day. They are located about 20 minutes from Rockland and it's worth the drive. The menu is huge and unique. I had the Satay All Day and my husband had the K style pulled pork sandwich. Sandwiches are served with chips. They were both delicious and messy. The space is cool and they sell specialty cooking products such as lard and seasonings. It was great and I'd visit again to try something else. read more

I was in the area from out of town - and wanted something local, not a chain restaurant (eg Applebee's, etc). This place appealed to me. I had an Asiago/kale/spinach grilled cheese, with Carrot Ginger soup and a chocolate chunk cookie. Holy mother of god it was all delicious - and all (aside from the potato chips and bottle of tea) made on site. if you are in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out. Notes: the staff were curt, but not rude. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but not ridiculous. The place is in a repurposed single family home, but it was comfortable. read more

I've had 5 meals from here and they have all been awful. The Caesar salad is little more than shredded lettuce and gross dressing. The bbq ribs were very tough and chewy, a far cry from "fall off the bone" and the sauce tasted like it came out of a plastic bottle from the dollar store. The Buffalo Chicken chowder had hardly any chicken in it and it wasn't spicy, mostly just tasted like hot carrots. The Mac n Cheese didn't taste like anything at all, I'd rather have Kraft. Most recently I had a burger, only because someone else bought it for me, it was dry and burnt to hell. I didn't think he could mess up a burger but here we are. I live in the area and have tried Ancho Honey 8-10 times. First, it isn't enjoyable when a person does not welcome you. The woman who takes your order at the register acts like she is doing you a favor. It seems as though she hates being there. I think she is a relative of the owner. This situation has happened every time I have been to the restaurant. I cringe when I go up to order from her. I ordered the brie and blue sandwich the last time I was there. I asked to leave the bacon off since I don't eat red meat. I received my sandwich: three tiny pieces of cheese and blueberry jam. One side of the sandwich had one small part of cheese on it. I wish I had taken a photo; it was unbelievable! I showed the sandwich to the two women at the register. They didn't apologize or offer to give me more cheese! They didn't care! The sandwich was 80% bread. I paid $13.00 for bread, a little cheese, and blueberry jam. They could have added some extra cheese since I didn't get bacon. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again. It is all about them and not about their customers. They have a massive chip on their shoulder! read more

I'll never not love the incredible boundary testing options that Ancho Honey puts out every week. Malcom is an artist in the kitchen. I am not an adventurous eater (I tend to stick to what I know) but from the Brie and Blue, to the El Santanico, to the vast array of tantalizing burgers each week- there really is something for everyone here. We've gotten takeout from Ancho Honey a couple of times while sheltering from Covid, and both times it's been a highlight. The brisket grilled cheese was tasty, and so were both of the burgers we ordered for the Thursday burger night. With a rotating menu, they have fun new options to check out each time you go. We ordered take out to bring along for a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse. What a great decision! The service was prompt and the sandwiches we ordered were delicious. My sandwich was Brisket Twister and I wasn't disappointed. It was the kind of comfort food I didn't want to end.
