I loved this place and spent nearly three hours enjoying it! It's the quintessential Maine dockside lobster shack with all the trimmings, great oyster selection (Pemaquids are the best) a simple bar with cold wine, all with an easy, breezy order at the counter, pick up and carry to your picnic table ambiance. See my photos and you'll understand!

Fewer picnic tables available on the huge deck during CoVid19 with clear directions to approach staff and order area with masks on. Still the same affordable market prices for hard and soft shell lobsters, mussels, clams, crab and lobster rolls, tuna and haddock tacos. Caesar salad, mac and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, chips, and pasta with or without seafood round off the menu. I personally prefer the softshell lobsters which have less meat but sweeter flesh. A 2 softshell lobster dinner that includes a succulent corn on the cob boiled in salt water and a pound of either mussels or clams is just under $30 today. Bring a light jacket or sweater if you plan to sit in the shade, and buy spray if you come and stay closer to sundown. Feel free to BYOB and additional sides to complete the meal. They provide nutcrackers and pickers to help you get into the lobsters, and paper towels to control the mess.

#1 dinner special - 1 1/4 lb lobster, corn and a pound of mussels

I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife for lunch. Muscongus Bay Lobster Co is located right on the harbor at Round Pond. It's the type of place where you walk up to the counter, place your order and give your name and they call your name and bring it out to you whenever it's ready. The seating for this place is actually out on a pier in the water with great views of all of the boats. They have both shaded and unshaded seating with the shaded area having a ton of fun colored lobster buoys hanging down. For lunch on this day both my wife and I decided to get the #1 dinner special which was a 1 1/4 lb soft shell lobster with corn, butter and mussels. After a bit of a wait (they had a large party of about 20 in front of us), our food was brought out to us and looked pretty good. My lobster here was pretty good as it was cooked properly and had a nice sweet flavor to it. Since it was a soft shell lobster I didn't have any difficulty getting the meat out of the shells. Meanwhile the mussels here were quite large and I really enjoyed eating them, especially dipped in the butter. Last but not least was the corn which also had a nice and sweet flavor to it but was cooked a little much for my liking. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed our food and thought the Muscongus Bay Lobster Co. was a pretty nice place to have lunch.

This was our second lobster shack in Maine, and again a delicious, rustic and incredibly affordable option for lobster lovers. I was happy because they had fish and scallop options! The service was super friendly and food was fresh as can be. We were taken by local friends, and it is their favorite near Round Pond. The views from the picnic tables in the dog were amazing at Sunset.

I come here with my family every summer and it is always a blast! It is less touristy than Shaw's which is around the corner. Menu is obviously heavy on the seafood side but no issues with that! They do a great job with the lobster dinners and other meals. I had the fish tacos last time I came and those were delicious. You order at the window and they call your number when the food is ready. BYOB is definitely a plus! Makes it easier and cheaper to pack your own cooler. Be sure to pack your own dessert too!! Great views of the water with lots of picnic tables!

Lobster roll on a gluten free bun!!

The dock on the water is so nice. I seek this restaurant out when I am in the area because it's such a treat to get a lobster roll on a gluten free bun!

We would definitely return and have a meal there.

On this visit we enjoyed the Anchor several times during our stay, for dinner, as well as a couple of happy hours. The front was very welcoming every time we went, when we reserved a table our server, Madison was friendly, knowledgeable, and even humored us by singing Happy Birthday to my wife in Spanish (with company lol). Other visits we ate at the bar and Andrea always kept our drinks and the conversation flowing - it was very enjoyable every time. Regardless of eating at a table or at the bar, the food was delicious every time. Over the course of four visits we had scallops, haddock, halibut and a pork chop - all prepared deliciously with nice presentation. My personal favorite was the grilled romaine salad which I three of four times - so good! We have eaten at the Anchor in the past and thought it was ok, but this season it really seemed together. Even when the restaurant was busy (happy hour) service was equal to the task and seemed to keep everyone happy and the quality of food and speed of service was excellent. I recommend you try this place (or try it again) if you are looking for something more upscale than a lobster on the dock and don't want to drive into town. Nice people and delicious food - thank you.

The service was warm and friendly, with the staff making a point to greet every customer. The lobster roll may not be quite as enormous as Red's, but it was absolutely delicious--cold, sweet, succulent lobster piled onto a perfectly toasted bun and served with a side of garlic butter. Instead of the usual coleslaw, you can opt for a refreshing seaweed salad, and the generous serving of fries is another nice touch. While you won't have a waterfront view here, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. I'd happily come back for another lobster roll

You have to watch carefully or map to the location, as the passing road is fast and you can drive by it without even realizing it. It's a small building with a decent sized parking lot - maybe can fit 10 or so cars. There is a picnic area to the side of the trailer, that has several picnic tables and a couple of little ones/lower to the ground. Very cute. Some tables with umbrellas for cover from the sun and in our case that day...brief relief from the rain, until it became sideways torrential rain. Plenty of garbage and recycling containers that are easy to locate and helps keep the place neat and free from debris flying around. It's not an extensive menu, however, the items we have ordered are fresh and flavorful. Item that stood out to us, the blueberry coleslaw. It's very very refreshing. They take electronic/card payments - it looks like it's a cash only type of place, but it's not. We had ordered our food for "here" and then the rain came. We sat at the tables as long as we could until the rain was coming down in sheets. We were soaked, so we ran to our cars...the staff saw what was happening, changed our order as "to go" and the gentleman ran the bagged orders to our cars with napkins and every thing we needed to enjoy our food. Great service! My fish basked was delicious. Love the fries that come with it as well. Plenty of fish, so much so, I had to give some to my husband to finish off. I love the finishing touches...may not seem like much to some, however, they take the time to put a tiny flower on each dinner. My niece and nephew loved it!! The bathrooms are in a separate building and are really nice. I thought they might be a potty, but they are fully plumbed, running water and electricity. I definitely will stop again, if it times right with our trips to the gardens and they are open. Great staff, easy location and great food.

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. C's looked pretty good actually so I am sure her experience was quite different than mine. I hope to never return. '25 - extra
