On June 5th around 11am I went to the Anchorbox store located at 5889 Gessner in Houston, TX. Prior to my visit to the store to purchase a strapping kit, my wife researched the price of the kit from their website to be $44.42 excluding taxes for 3,000 ft 1/2 inch strap. The store charged me $85.42 excluding taxes. I was a bit taken back by the extreme price difference and quoted the online price of $44.42. The young man stated that he has to charge the store price, will notify the owner and apologized. I bought it and left the store. Upon my return to the office, I looked up the price once again and the price of new elevated price. Pretty quick to make that change. Unfortunately for me I have no proof other than when I called spoke to whom I presumed to be a manager he, acknowledge that he adjusted the price within 30 minutes of me leaving the store and returning at my office. For clarity of my issue I have included my paid receipt and screen print of their website with the "updated" price. This is NOT a 10,20, or 30% difference. This is in excess of 50% and that price was still effective on their website when I arrived for my purchase. The change was made after I paid their "store" price. I find this highly deceptive and flat out wrong. I realize all costs are up. They knew there was discrepancy, and I am confident that many other brick and mortar shops would honor the price as stated on-line. read more

I wish I had found this place before I started rummaging for boxes for my move. Here I found boxes that fit expensive artwork securely. The manager helped me measure everything out to my dimensions before I bought. Everything fit perfect when I got it home. I found a couple HUGE boxes that I wanted to put smaller boxes in for an extra level of security during the long haul move across country. You won't find boxes this big and sturdy behind Wal-Mart! Sure you can find a few boxes if you are lucky at stores and maybe the office...I did. But when I needed something specific or large I was thrilled to have found this place. Spend the extra few bucks (they really aren't overpriced for a happy move) on a good moving box for your TV or artwork or family heirloom. It will be worth the peace of mind later when you unpack. The customer service is horrible!! I didn't buy anything from Anchor Box this week. Thursday I shopped around. I went and bought boxes from a different company-at least they were friendly and professional. Anchor Box has an older male employee that seriously needs customer service training. I searched all over Houston for an insulated shipping container and outer box and was delighted to find Anchor Box after an extensive wild-goose chase from other vendors. When I called to make sure that they had the box I was looking for in stock, they were friendly, quick to identify exactly what I was looking for and walk me through options. The 60's called, they want their manual sorting system back. Each time I go to this place, they have this poor guy running around trying to get your order. THEN, when it's time to get your order, as a business, they have to call the "corporate location" to ensure your tax information is on file. LISTEN, I don't care if you come EVERYDAY AND THEY KNOW YOU, they STILL have to call the "corporate" office. Weirdest thing I've ever seen! A 10 minute transaction turns to 20 minutes because of this causing a line jam EVERY TIME. Called the office and mentioned why and the person got snappy with me. This is my go to place for packing material. Not only do they have boxes of all shapes & sizes, they have packing material such as paper sheets & bubble wrap. The staff are very helpful, they will even help load your car. But the biggest draw are the prices. If you value your time & don't want to drive all over Houston to find a box for moving, then this is the place to go. read more

Friendliest guys working at the Anchor Box, with loads of experience, ready to facilitate your request for unusual or common size boxes. They even throw in a free tape if you purchase more than $10.00. They were half the price for a 15x18 box sold by Kinkos or Mail Boxes Etc. Check them out. We purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and unfortunately, when one of the many pallets that were ordered came out defective they tried to blames us for the problem. If you want to get defective boxes that they will then refuse to replace then this is the place for you. We found a fabulous alternative at Southwest Corrugated! Well, I went to Anchor box yesterday on Chimney Rock @ Richmond. Guess what? It is no longer Anchor Box. it has been bought by 2 Men and a Truck company. They have boxes (all branded 2 men & a truck). But not lots and were out of stock on items like TV boxes. In fact, it seemed somewhat empty except for standard moving boxes. The help was great. But I didn't get everything I needed like marking pens, box knife, etc. if they have them, I didn't see them. But they did load my car up with the boxes i bought. read more

People who works at that place are very friendly and customer service oriented. Not to mention the low prices. But we tried another branch of the same company on Gessner and the person who works there is the rudest, most unprofessional person you can ever deal with, so we decided NEVER to step foot into Gessner branch ever again. When we went to Chimney Rock branch, we were pleasantly surprised by how friendly and professional people who works there, that we felt compelled that we have to acknowledge the good and the bad and write a high star review for those team who works at Chimney. I guess when you see the UGLY, you appreciate the NICE ! Shame on this company who can find and hire professional people yet they keep rude unprofessional at other site. Great prices and two really great, though a bit eccentric, men who run the show. They are honest, direct, helpful, smart and very kind. I have seen them be beyond good to people, and react to rudeness from customers in kind. I don't blame them; some of the customers are spoiled, entitled folks.
