Caroll is a great hostess and wonderful cook. We used not only the rooms but the Garden Center for the bridal party hair and makeup, the pavilion and fire ring for the rehearsal dinner and the grounds for gorgeous bridal party pictures. Our wedding was not held there, but she hosts wedding as well. I would have loved to have more time to just enjoy the peace and quiet on the porch.

At that time, it felt like a true bed-and-breakfast experience with thoughtful personal touches (guests were welcomed with a bottle of wine, breakfast was full and clearly made with care, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and attentive). Over the past couple of years, especially since the addition of their second location, I've noticed some changes in the overall experience. The level of personal interaction feels more limited than it used to, and check-in and general hospitality have become more minimal. I do understand how difficult it can be to find and retain good staff in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running a business like this. The biggest change for me has been the food and dining experience. They are no longer offering a bottle of wine in the room, but a glass of wine ordered at the bar. Breakfast, which used to be a real highlight is now much more basic and doesn't feel as thoughtfully prepared as it once did. Pricing has also increased, while the overall food offerings have decreased in both variety and quality. One of our favorite extras used to be the charcuterie platter for two, which we would order one each stay and enjoy in our room. We've stopped ordering it because both the portion size and product quality no longer felt consistent with the price or with our earlier experiences. Overall, I still like Deer Creek Inn, our favorite rooms are the Brooks Deluxe Suite and the Celebration room. We will continue to visit occasionally, but it no longer has quite the same special feel it once did for us, so I won't be going as often as I used to.

We had some appetizers, Ice Tea, Coffee, and A Gorgeous Cake ( 4 layer ) and a Ice Cream Sundae bar. Everyone, including my Mother in Law was thrilled with the place. They even offered to seat me up front to limit my walking distance due to my broken foot. I had the seafood bisque and I almost couldn't believe we were in DuBois - I'm from Napa California. It wasn't your typical heavy cream and unidentifiable seafood. The crab was tender and the cream light enough the seafood could shine. I also ordered the smoked duck salad that had goat cheese and caramelized onions in field greens. Outstanding. It manages to be quaint and inviting, but absolutely stunning at the same time. The food was wonderful, the scones were honestly the best scones I've ever had and they make everything on site! Not to mention the presentation, the tiered serving trays? The different pieces of vintage china settings? The crystal goblets? Omg, take me back to the days of dreaming of having a tea party like this! My inner child is jumping up and down! This venue is small, but the perfect size for a more intimate gathering, my party was 22 people and we fit just fine. The waitress was adept at explaining the tea flavors and describing what was on the serving trays as they were set down, and the owner, Sherry, was a joy to work with. Her friendly and professional demeanor helped assuage the stress of throwing an event, and her contracts were well drafted and easily understood. I can't wait to go back in my own time just for lunch and tea!
