At that time, it felt like a true bed-and-breakfast experience with thoughtful personal touches (guests were welcomed with a bottle of wine, breakfast was full and clearly made with care, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and attentive). Over the past couple of years, especially since the addition of their second location, I've noticed some changes in the overall experience. The level of personal interaction feels more limited than it used to, and check-in and general hospitality have become more minimal. I do understand how difficult it can be to find and retain good staff in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running a business like this. The biggest change for me has been the food and dining experience. They are no longer offering a bottle of wine in the room, but a glass of wine ordered at the bar. Breakfast, which used to be a real highlight is now much more basic and doesn't feel as thoughtfully prepared as it once did. Pricing has also increased, while the overall food offerings have decreased in both variety and quality. One of our favorite extras used to be the charcuterie platter for two, which we would order one each stay and enjoy in our room. We've stopped ordering it because both the portion size and product quality no longer felt consistent with the price or with our earlier experiences. Overall, I still like Deer Creek Inn, our favorite rooms are the Brooks Deluxe Suite and the Celebration room. We will continue to visit occasionally, but it no longer has quite the same special feel it once did for us, so I won't be going as often as I used to.

It was decorated in a Butterfly theme. The tables and chairs and tablecloths were beautiful. It is air conditioned and quite roomy. The food was terrific. We had some appetizers, Ice Tea, Coffee, and A Gorgeous Cake ( 4 layer ) and a Ice Cream Sundae bar. Everyone, including my Mother in Law was thrilled with the place. I was happy with the meatless options, such as surprisingly creative salads - creamy sweet potato salad, coleslaw, and feta cheese pasta salad. Of course, a good buffet is measured by its dessert bar and Rustic Lodge does not fall short. Pies are definitely the specialty and I especially loved the old fashioned coconut cream.

My fiance and I met her there and looked around. She had the contract ready in her hands. She was going over the contract and I looked at her and said, we only wanted to come look. She was not happy as she thought she was getting $550 that day. My fiance and I loved the place. She said sometimes the rentals go quickly, so we ended up paying that day. We had attended my cousin's wedding there in October 2019. I had made the food for her and was allowed to use the kitchen there. The oven broke halfway through cooking the chicken. We couldn't get her on the phone to come fix it. We had to drive the Clarion to finish cooking the meat. The bathrooms were filthy as well as the kitchen. My friend gave the kitchen a COMPLETE scrub down before even starting to cook. There also was ZERO hot water available to wash dishes. (IN OCTOBER)! My cousin did not get a dime back from this catastrophe. I received a phone call from her in regards to our rental. She had stated that she booked our Sunday for a graduation party, so we would no longer have Sunday to clean up. THIS WAS THE WHOLE REASON I BOOKED THIS PLACE. I didn't want to have to clean up Saturday night. I still had to pay the same price as someone who got Sunday to clean up, because it's not in the contract that you get Sunday. It was verbally agreed upon when we signed the contract, but now it's not valid. I am canceling. I refuse to give her another dime. She will not return any money as we paid it 2 years ago. I will never recommend her building no matter how beautiful it is. No one deserves to work with a woman like her.

Generally one bartender takes care of a large bar and all patrons, which leads to a long slow line that has to form in a particular way or the regulars will cut ahead of you as you wait. The drinks are fine, not strong and there is frequently one on special each day. The waitresses won't take drink orders if you're at a table. Getting water is even a challenge and a you will hear a complaint if you ask the server. Table service isn't quick but the food is good. As an out of town, often in town visitor I want to love it like I do my home lodge, but it's just not very welcoming. They have a nice sized outside area with a run down bocci court and frequent live music in the summer months. The building is modern and open with what looks like an area that could be used as a venue for events. A large parking lot is also available on site.
