We booked Cottage 23 a YEAR in advance--for the summer of 2026-and then received an email saying our rental had been cancelled. When I called to ask why, the woman who answered came up with a series of vague reasons. First she said, "You booked for three nights. We only book full weeks"--I explained that we booked exactly the dates that were available on their calendar, but would love to stay longer. Then she said, "Well, it probably let you book but we allow our returning guests re-book and they probably wanted the time you booked." WTH? So you take other bookings (because it was clearly available on their site) and then if a returning guest wants to book the same time, you just boot the family that already booked? I asked about other dates and she said, "It's very hard to break in. We have a lot of returning families." She did not offer to look at their other locations, she did not offer to put us on a cancellation list, she did not offer to check for any other dates--she just said, "I'm sorry you are disappointed." By the way, there are STILL open dates on their calendar for Summer 2026 but I would strongly caution against booking here because they will just cancel and give it to someone else. I had tried to visit here for over two years, and had finally found some summer dates that were open. But we dodged a bullet if this is the way they welcome you--clearly, they do not want any new business, which is ironic because they are constantly posting about cancellations on their social media. I guess this is why people go to the west side of Michigan. If this "resort" is any indication, Lake Huron seems very unfriendly.

I've stayed here twice in the middle of summer and it's been lovely. I chose the newer rooms that overlook the beach and it was great. The room itself is very large with a King size bed, jacuzzi hot tub with oils and bubble bath provided, a couch seating area with coffee table, a mini fridge, a coffee pot and a sink area with cups / glasses / plates and silverware. We wanted a toaster and asked for that and the owner gladly brought us one for our stay. The bathroom is nice with fluffy towels and nicely appointed. The sweetest thing though is that the rooms are all decorated in a Mardi Gras theme. It's a bit hokey, but fun. Little stuffed animals, mardi gras beads, purple tchockis all add to the stay. If you are on ground level out the back door you have your own porch with 2 lounge chairs and a table to sit and enjoy the beach. The sunrises are spectacular. Upstairs you would have a balcony. I liked being able to walk right out into the sand, so I stayed on the lower level both times. The owners are really nice, as an added bonus the wife makes a loaf of Amish friendship bread and leaves it in your room as a welcome gift. It is delicious with or without coffee. What a nice touch! There is a large beachfront area, plenty of lounge chairs, a club house, a volleyball net and other games. I definitely recommend.

The tide was never too high and the kids loved splashing in the waves and making sand art. The water was so clean you could see your feet even in the deepest parts of the lake and the sand is as white as snow. They also had a cute playground for the kids and a swing set close to beach for the kids at heart. Fin the evening, we played volleyball ordered pizza and roasted s'mores as the sun set and music blasted. We will definitely come back for many years in the future.

They smoked marijuana everywhere, parking lot, beach, fire pit, water, and when asked to please refrain from smoking around our children and us, we were told NO. They had a speaker the size of a grill and played their music (male genitals on the ground songs) we struggled to hear each other talk. Again, when asked to be considerate and turn their music down, we were told NO. Since they are 'friends with the owner', the manager was unable to help and was told by the manager to talk to them and work it out. When I did talk with them around the fire pit and expressed how we felt, I was verbally abused and had to threaten to call the police when I was physically threatened. We left early.

What a joy to discover a gem in a beautiful, well-traveled part of our state. The Tawas State Park…read morecampground was closed for renovations, so my husband and I began looking for another spot to camp while enjoying spring birding in this area. Through a Google search, we found this campground. This campground is quiet, exceptionally well-cared for, convenient y located to all Tawas and West Branch attractions and located on a beautiful piece of property. The owners and hosts, Calvin and Jeannie, are wonderful people who will make you feel right at home. Though tent camping sites are available, we decided to splurge and rent a glamping cabin with a king bed. It was the perfect blend of luxury and the rustic feel of being in nature. We enjoyed meandering around the well marked trails and relaxing at the river, just a short walk from the campground. The spring birds were plentiful, allowing a quiet alternative to the more crowded Tawas spots. The glamping cabin was immaculately clean, the bed was firm and the bedding was very nice. The ceiling fan, standing fan and mini heater allow for a comfortable sleeping and relaxing environment. We enjoyed afternoons in the hammock, evening fires and then relaxing in bed streaming our favorite Netflix shows while eating microwave popcorn (we brought the food and technology; microwave, fridge and wifi provided) Every camper knows the sacrifices made while visiting the restrooms and showers. No sacrificing needed here. The facilities are large and super clean. They even smell amazing and are tastefully decorated. We were provided with a golf cart to trek back and forth to the restroom which was appreciated at night. What a treat! The campground is primarily seasonal campers with many sites for RV's and more limited tent camping, with and without utilities. The crowd seems older and quiet though there is a cute little playground and lots of space for kids to explore nature. Our grandson would love fishing from the river. This visit may have been our first but it won't be our last. We almost hate to write this review and risk this gem becoming more popular. Alas, we want the owners to enjoy wild success as they provide such a wonderful place to enjoy nature.
