For the flower bouquet today and she really took her time with the drawing and positioning to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. It barely took an hour and her prices are very reasonable. Do not get tattoos from Halyee, she went over my tattoo too much causing it to fall off within the next 3 days. I took proper care of it and had it retouched by a better artist who told me the reason the tattoo fell off. Not even symmetrical, do not recommend. read more

We tried to get an appointment but we were to late. And by tried, we waited out front for 20 minutes for them to open. Walked in with design in hand. But....The artists are definitely not starving for work. Their Saturday schedules all full. I looked around, Only my buddy and I. 3 artists present. Looked to be 4 booths. We begged, tried to bribe..... Explained that we understand it's a small and basic design, but we are willing to pay whatever for our souvenirs. They All passed. Bummer. Granted they had prior engagements, but most shops have someone ready for walk ins. We asked to be called if anyone was a no show. We hung out for another 10- 15 minutes, so maybe 20-25 minutes total. Still no customers. Either my friend or I could be done by now......or both!! Total loss of a STAR! Place was clean and well..... Tattoo shopish. Designs hanging all over and what not. Really high ratings on all the artist's. That is why this probably seems like a negative review, I really wanted a piece from here! They wouldn't budge on the No appointment.........and never called. I will make a appointment next time. Grumble grumble grumble read more

My wife had a small tattoo done there a little while back: TERRIBLE experience. Like one of the previous reviewers, we were treated VERY rudely. In hindsight, we should have walked away at this point, but we chose to ignore it. My wife wanted a small, simple tattoo (one color, no shading) that anyone with any reasonable amount of experience should have been able to execute easily, so we took the "high road," my wife got her tattoo and we left. Later, as the tattoo began to heal, we noticed that the coloring was uneven and the lines were not clear. Needless to say, she was very disappointed and now needs to have it either redone or covered up. WOULD NOT recommend to anyone. read more

Absolutely love this studio! It's a tattoo studio! Jen and Judy are amazing! They are talented, creative, down to earth artist. Raw. And very real. I freaking love this place!!!! Appointments only, but they do take walk ins if there just happens to be a opening. Doubt it cause they are good enough to stay booked! Worth the wait. I have 16 tattoos and they have done 3 of them. Very professional. Great service. I saw one of their newest tattoo artists, Rodney and he was great. Everyone else there gets booked up months in advance but Rodney did a great job. He made me feel really comfortable and I was in the same room as Miss. Jenn (Larry Allen's daughter) and she was cool too. After leaving there I was ready to go back for more. Great tattoo from Kirk Tapley!!! The place is in a seedy location but Kirk did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier! I got a custom thigh piece and was in the chair for over 6 hours. I started swelling pretty bad even though Kirk has a gentle touch. (My last tat was done by a heavy-handed artist and I have scars.) Kirk told me to come back in one month so he could touch it up, if needed, for free. That is awesome customer service! I'm not sure if it will need touching up, but now I'm thinking of adding to it... Damb this tattoo addiction! Lol! Anyways...go see Kirk! AKA: LARRY ALLEN'S STUDIO... If you want the best, you have to go here. They are the oldest tattoo studio (to my knowledge) in the state and only have the best artists. I have a friend who is addicted to Tattoo's and she only goes to this studio. I have one tattoo that was done by Judy and she did a great job (just don't get her worked up about something, when she starts talking about something that pisses her off, she goes deeper and it hurts like HELL).... My husband and I came here after we eloped in Seward. We tried a few other shops first but none were open/had availability. As we were driving around, we decided to stop by this shop and see if we could possibly get in. Lucky for us, Miss Jenn just had someone cancel and was able to fit both of us in right away. It was my husbands first tattoo and Jenn was very nice and calm throughout the whole thing. When she was tattooing me, I didn't even realize when she was done because she had such a soft touch. I got my first tattoo about a year ago from Miss Jenn here and had an AMAZING experience. My brothers had gotten matching tattoos from James and Larry in the early nineties and I decided I wanted to get the same one as well. When I went there and showed them what I wanted, they still had the original template so my tattoo was EXACTLY like the one both of my brothers got! They are very accommodating and super nice people, the atmosphere and vibe was awesome, and they keep everything nice and clean. James is one of the most amazing artists I've seen, let alone in Alaska, and his work is in very high demand so make sure you get a jump on making your appointment. This review is way, WAY overdue. I only have one tattoo, but I got it from Larry Allen's back in 2003 for my 18th birthday. I booked with Mason, who appears to still be there. He was awesome. My tattoo was simple--a pirate skull and swords that was smaller than the size of my fist. Mason and I had fun cracking pirate jokes during the process. My tattoo didn't call for a lot of color, but Mason did such an amazing job shading the few colored parts that it turned great. He even suggested not filling in the skull because my skin is so pale already, lol. Turned out to be a good decision. And he was patient with me when my mom called from her trip in Vegas to check on me--she didn't know I was getting a tattoo, but that's what happens when you go to Vegas without me on my 18th birthday! She asked what the buzzing sound in the background was. I urgently waved to Mason and he paused so I could come up with an excuse to get her off the phone (Discovery Channel special on bees, hahahaha). It's now over 10 years later, and my tattoo still looks great. No fading, haven't had to do any color retouching. Sure, the establishment looks kind of shady and isn't in the best part of town, but don't be fooled. These guys are the real deal. read more
