I was on a vacation from Cali & wanted to get a tattoo to remember the beauty of Alaska. I looked at multiple shops and everyone was either booked or not accepting walk-in, I called Southside and they were willing to get me in before I left. I stayed in touch with Glade to figure out the details and when was best to get my tattoo done. When I got there, we were greeted & btw I love the way the shop is set up. Great vibes all around. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. All the artist appreciate each others work which is really great to see. Glade created a sketch for me that was perfect. His input really helped with deciding a lot about my tattoo. I got fireweed and forget me nots. His touch wasn't rough I got through the tattoo pretty easily and in the end I was in love with it. I have a lot of tattoos and the one Glade did has to be my favorite. Even my best friend went in and got a fireweed because she loved how mine turned out. (2nd pic) All in all. Updating my review to say that Beth contacted me shortly after I posted my first review. She was very nice and receptive to my feedback, which tells me she cares a lot about providing excellent customer service. She told me the shop is going to try having an apprentice handle scheduling which hopefully will make communications go more smoothly. I always greatly appreciate and respect when business owners and employees take the time to respond to feedback, whether it's positive or negative. She even offered me an hour of her time at no charge, which I think is very generous. Unfortunately I no longer live in Alaska so I cannot take advantage of that, at least not any time soon. But even if Beth hadn't offered that I would want to book an appointment with her just based on her reply to my initial review. Here's hoping I can eventually give a 5 star review and post some photos of Beth's awesome work on me! read more

Love these guys!!! Amazing artists Beth and Joe man they more than deserve Five stars!!!It's clean and friendly, there's humor, can't ask for much more. I've had them do my back tattoo's started with one and than over the course of the last fours years. They have truly man it an amazing piece of art. it's everything I wanted, they worked with me, dealt with me asking a million questions, lol I've been blessed to say, I entered it into a magazine contest with inked magazine and I finished in seventh place I couldn't be happier! read more

We came in for a little spur of the moment Hockey tattoo on weekend trip to Anchorage. Glade was extremely accommodating at working us in and the lovely Beth was so kind to help out so all 5 of us could make it on time to our next hockey game. We went by this shop last Monday and made an appointment for a consultation on Tuesday. We saw Jeremy Doughty , which went well. We came with our own drawings. He said it would be no problem. He made some suggestions, some we liked and some we didnt. He said he would send us drawings over the next few days. We were booked for all day Friday as three of us were getting tattoos. We are visiting an old friend in Alaska and this was the last time we would all be together for a long time, our flight out is Saturday. Jeremy sent us some drawings which were nothing like our original designs, he removed large portions and symbols that were important to us. We told him what we liked and what we didnt, there was a lot of texting back and forth. He asked us about the colors because he said it was hard to change them a lot and it was very time consuming. None of our tattoos had more than 5 colors. Late thursday night he texted us and said he was cancelling because our tattoos were not creatively challenging enough for him. So we were left with one day in Anchorage and trying to find a place to do 3 tattoos. He ruined this experience for us. A tattoo is personal, if he said from the beginning that he only did his own artwork we would have gone somewhere else but I wanted the tattoo I designed. It is going to be on my body forever. So thanks Jeremy Doughtyand Southside Tattoo for robbing us of this experience. Very unprofessional, very egotistical, very uncaring and selfish (because after all the tattoo wasnt about him and what he wanted). Get your tattoo somewhere else. For the record one tattoo was a tribal crescent moon with stars scattered below it, one was a quote and the third was a twisted tree with a few leaves and birds in it. read more

Beth is the best she's super cool and does a great job . The owner Joseph is very down to earth.

Jeremy is a really great artist but unfortunately he is unreliable and reschedules appointments that were booked a month in advance, very last minute. He did this to me twice. The first time he wanted to bring me in earlier, which I appreciated but I just started my job and was in mandatory training, so I was happy to move my appointment another month out. The second time he wanted to move my appointment to later in the day. When I asked how long the appointment would take because I had an afternoon meeting, he told me 2 to 3 hours...He was tattooing a 6 letter word on my neck! In that 2 to 3 hours, he expected me to take unnecessary time away from my job waiting on him so he could leave midway in the appointment to go pick up his son. When I cancelled the appointment his response was "I apologize, life happens." That cold response and the lack of consideration of my time is what prompted me to leave this review. read more
