It was ok. It was your classic buffet fare with prime rib. Prime rib was ok. The teriyaki chicken was actually delicious but for some reason when it ran out they replaced it with chicken wings and it never made an appearance again. Desserts were ok. The room was rather large and was packed for lunch. There's ample seating but the walkways between tables are kind of cramped. This is located at the Navy base, but not ON the Navy base. You can go here as a civilian. I would come back here, but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice or a "go out of my way" place to eat. read more

This is a nice and spacious place for personal events like birthdays, family event parties, etc. The food they serve here is decent buffet style foods. From chicken, steak, mashed potatoes etc. The room here can accommodate a lot of people. I came here for many events and they were all fun and successful. Spacious dance floor and spacious all around. A lot of parking so it is not a hassle for guests to find parking. I came here after a wedding vow renewal ceremony for the reception. The event was held in the Pacific and Atlantic Ballrooms (the two signs I saw over the two open doors, not sure if the room in the middle had a different name). When connected, the event was in an L-shaped room so it was hard to see the slideshow from certain areas. The dance floor in the center was nice and big and placed in front of the elevated auditorium style stage. The women's restroom had around 4/5 stalls so there wasn't much of a line. Drinks were available against the walls of each ballroom. There was an option of water, raspberry iced tea, decaf/caffeinated coffee, and hot tea. The servers poured the iced water into our glass cups upon arrival. The rest of the drinks were self serve. I think I helped myself to four glasses of raspberry iced tea. The food was buffet style and it was pretty good. There was make-your-own Caesar salad (lettuce, cheese, dressing, croutons), rolls, butter, steamed/boiled vegetables (yellow squash, zucchini, carrots, broccoli), seasoned rice, baked salmon, mashed potato, turkey w/gravy, and prime rib w/your typical horseradish and au jus sauce. I was very impressed with the baked salmon. It was very juicy and had some feta and spinach on top of it. I'm not a huge fan of turkey but I can say that it wasn't dry. The roast beef is cut in front of you so you can either be first in line for well-done or somewhere in the middle of the line for medium-rare meat. I'm sure you can request how well you like your meat cooked. Overall, this place is pretty good for an event of around 200 people. There were servers walking around the entire time so it was easy to get someone's attention if needed. read more

A great place with reasonable prices and good selections. They feature a different theme everyday such as sandwiches, seafood, prime rib, and Mexican. It's buffet style so you can help yourself. They also feature ice cream, chocolate cake and pie or cobbler every day. Lots of friendly people and sharing tables can be a fun thing. It's like an old school cafeteria. The service is also great. We had the Fam reunion here. Nice to see the roots and meet new family while other family members unknowingly but drunkenly pick up on distant cousins. Let's think about this for a sec...It's a family reunion. I also gotta laugh at relatives who write their last names on their name tag. Haha! If you haven't married and changed your name for whatever reason (witness protection) then everyone should know your last name here. This is the worst place to hold an event. First was the food. Catering sucks. The prime rib tasted like ass. I never tasted ass but I imagine this is what it would taste like. The kids meal option looked really good. Chicken strips and fries. I stole some from my little cuz cause The prime rib wasn't doin it. Second was the service. It took forever to get water or anything else. The only time they came by was to clear the dishes. The only saving grace was the bar. Decent prices limited selection. You had to hunt the bartender down though. All the uncles shoulda sprung for the open bar. We must have some Irish in us cause most of my family can drink whiskey for days! read more

I don't know why people feel the need to be so critical online of these restaurants. Anchors and Spurs is actually really good food for what you pay for. I mean, all you can eat prime rib for $13? Plus have salad bar, and various other items available like baked chicken, rice, potatoes, gravy, pastas, etc. I went to Humphrey's 2 wells ago on Harbor Dr and that prime rib dinner with 10 green beans and an ice cream size scoop of mashed potatoes was $49 with 1 beer. So get real people. As a matter of fact, we try to swing by every chance we get bc of the quality and value. For example, Hometown Buffet is the same price. Now you tell me, if this catered meal is the same quality. Please. Everyone is nice, it's very clean, it's not loud, and an excellent price. My company decided to host the annual Holiday Luncheon here...for the prime rib Wednesdays of course. The place itself looks like a military installation since it's a hop, skip and fence jump away from 32nd. To me it looked like a regular military chow hall so it wasn't anything fancy or special. We were all seated in a private room which was nice and festivally decorated however we were not told that the buffet would be shared with other patrons...no fault on the facility but more on the company itself. it was kind of hard to get any food with 50+ people from the company and adding the other 75+ other outside patrons. Pretty much I was craping the bottom of the barrel for whatever was tore up and left over to die in the serving pans. Luckily I did get my prime rib which was nicely rare and juicy. The rest of the food though, eh. I could of done without. I was sad that there was no cobbler left either. Again, with a spoon I my hand, I broke off the crusty pieces that lined the pan and scooped up whatever apple jelly globs left. oh yea, cobbler crust. read more

I've been going to this place and the other place they had opened years ago on the sub base for years. I cant believe how far they have fallen. When I went for a slice of Prime Rib, they served me a slice so thin it was like a slice of roast beef...at Subway. I asked if they could cut it thicker and they pointed to some stupid ass sign that says you can come back for seconds. That's not the point! The servers refused to budge on the cut width. Someone needs to dial in the manager or servers on how to properly serve Prime Rib. Folks look forward to having a nice thick juicy cut of beef when you mention Prime Rib.. The Sweet Spot for Premium Meats is 1.5 Inches While 1 inch is a good starting point Not Subway Slice Size. The Tri-Tip was dry as a desert breeze as well. Food is plain but it is cheap, convenient location and the staff is very nice. (the crapers are old but clean). Really I have nothing to complain about for once... Place is actually pretty good. If you look at most of my reviews I'm usually an A-hole. But I really cant complain here. A Petty Officer was leaving San Diego and so we had his going away party here. I still don't get if this is part of the Navy Base or what since you don't have to be military affiliated to enter. But from there I started coming back for the buffet The menu changed a few years back. The food is nothing amazing and yes a lot of it like the potato salad and the macaroni salad look like they are straight from the "big Army can". But look at what you pay. Thursdays is less than $8 and it includes your drink without having to beg the waiter for more. The waiters are not on you like in a fancy place. But A-holes.. it's a buffet. You get your own food! So yeah the waiters pretty much just come by to clean the tables... JERKS IT'S A BUFFET!! I've always been offered coffee and the mostly Filipino staff is very nice I forget if you even pay sales tax since it is kinda of a navy place. If it isn't fancy and you want to get attention from the waiter then you're stupid to come here. Go someplace else. You'd be like the jerk complaining there is no vegetarian selection at the Texas steakhouse. Bad choice on your part. If it isn't elegant enough for you then the problem is you not the place. For what you pay it is a great deal. I've even brought my girlfriend and her family here for a casual lunch. it's a good experience. hardly anyone form the naval base even comes here.
