I was determined to try their tacos since there was a really long line for it at the Cinco de Mayo Festival this year. When I got closer to ordering, there were displays of their offerings on a table and the quesadilla looked appetizing, so I ordered that with adobada instead. My hubby still wanted to get tacos and ordered two carne asada ones and two adobada ones. We had to get in another line to wait for our food and our order was messed up, but was fixed on the spot. Condiments and salsas were laid out on the side, so it was easy to get to. My quesadilla was huge! I'm glad I ordered it because it was very tasty and delicious. The tacos were small and alright. I love coming to Tacos el Rorro at least every other week. The lady is always so incredibly kind, hospitable and sweet! They have great music playing which makes for a great atmosphere. They even have a sink to wash your hands with soap and hand sanitizer for your use. Also, if you want to eat there, they have tables set up and Lysol available to clean before and after you eat. This is all so important especially with these times . Ok, so about the FOOD! I have ordered pretty much all of their tacos and they are all so delicious. They also have tacos Tuesday specials. Yesterday we ordered the carne asada fries and the California burrito. It did not disappoint! So full of flavor and also not dripping with grease making it less palatable like other spots. The portions are HUGE so come with an appetite or save some for later Ohhh and the salsas the bomb spicy and full of flavor!!! They also have mild if spicy is not your thang. This spot is a must. These guys rock! I ran into Tacos El Rorro at Helix Brewery for dinner and ordered the "Tres Pachos" which is basically three generously filled sopes with your choice of protein or not. I went for the adobada with everything on them for $8. I loved everything about the sopes, but first I was especially fond of the preparation of the masa underneath. They fried to a perfect light crunchy crispiness but inside the little boats was semi-soft with a bit of a chew. Secondly, the adobada pork was tender and full of flavor. The pork had great color and I loved the fact that they left small portions of fat still attached to the meat. Also, some of the pieces had some nice charring on them which resulted in enhance flavor of the adobo and pork meat. On top of the adobada came some shredded lettuce, a shredded white cheese, and s drizzling of crema fresca. All of the ingredients went well together and tasted great. On one of them, I added some of their red hot sauce that came in a squeeze bottle on the food truck which was terrific and it did not hold back on the flavor nor the heat. I sampled a single bacon wrapped jalapeno pepper griddled to perfection. The bacon was crisp and securely wrapped around the pepper. The peppers was seeded with the hot viens removed, but it did not take way from the terrific flavor of the peppers. Rolando the proprietor of the food truck is a gent and quite friendly. I could tell he and his employees are very confident with the quality and tastiness of their product. There was no argument from me given the tres panchos were delicious. read more

I'd go with a 3.5 overall on this food truck. Everything I tried was good, just nothing was spectacular. I ordered a few things.. 3 tacos for $8 big portion. Tried the chicken and Carne Asada tacos and both were enjoyable fairly large sized. I also tried their Gobernator which is a shrimp and vegetable quesadilla creation I liked it, a tad too much spicy mayo type sauce. Then I tried the ceviche tostada which was good and fresh but I wished was more spicy, as it didn't have that kick I've grown a little accustomed to having with most ceviche. This national city food truck was downtown parked by the trolley in between 11th and 12th on Market St. I'm glad I tried it is yet more good Mexican in San Diego just nothing that overly tickled my fancy. I'm sorry but i do not understand the positive reviews. We ordered the asada, adobada and chicken tacos and they were all bad. All of the meats were tough, flavorless and felt like they were cooked on a pan, like it lacked that smokey taste. Tacos El Rorro is an exceptional catering service that would benefit from more social media presence. I've been to two events in the last month they catered and both were absolutely perfect. I hosted an event yesterday with about 50 people and Alonzo arrived solo and pulled it off like an expert- tacos carne asada, pollo, and adobada with all the beans, rice, salsa, and extras were perfect. Alonzo rolled in and cooked asada over mesquite while simultaneously cooking pollo on a flat top he rolled in like something from straight outta Mexico. Great tacos! We were hosting a picnic in La Jolla Shores park (the grassy area, Kellogg park) and the staff handled a difficult setup situation without a hitch. (Tacos El Rorro does have permits for catering in public parks, which is reassuring!) We had several random people throughout the day come and ask us how we set this up because it looked so fun - so definitely worth it! We substituted in the grilled fish tacos for no extra charge (Catering package 1), and they were delicious - all gone by the end! Guests were crazy about the food, and loved the handmade taco shells. There were lots of sides, and plenty for any vegetarians. Jamaica was quite tasty; I would definitely recommend that over the lemonade. On the whole, a great way to welcome folks to San Diego! Another great taco truck that is a new addition to my work place daily food trucks! I decided on their taco special, 3 tacos for $8. I ended up getting three adobada tacos and I was absolutely not disappointed. First off the size of these tacos aren't the street tacos you're thinking about that you can finish off in two to three bites, these are solid 5-7 bite tacos so needless to say you're getting the bang for your buck. They top with classic cilantro and onions and the green avocado based sauce. All this amazingness wrapped into two stovetop toasted tortillas will keep me coming back for more.
