The higher belts are welcoming and helped me throughout class and they are not rough towards beginners and other classmates, so that is one big plus for me. Safety ALWAYS comes first! That leads me to the second thing: Coaches and higher belts conducting class always watch and help prevent people from colliding with each other while they are rolling around and sparring. The reason why I came was because I needed a new passion and hobby. Judo was never really accessible to me before I moved to Orange County 2 years ago. I have 11-12 years of Olympic(World TaeKwondo Federation) Tae Kwon Do experience and I was a former head instructor. A lot of the movements like practicing falls in TKD transferred very easily into Judo, so it was very convenient. Adding on, Coach Grace is very helpful, patient, and makes learning Judo simple and easy! Back to my experience, towards the end of class, I suffered a serious injury that led me to be on crutches and a boot for a few weeks. I was hoping to sign up for Judo right after. Note, I did not get hurt doing Judo, but from doing conditioning exercises and I was already tired from earlier drills. The coaches and others quickly helped me off the mat, grabbed ice for me, and helped me back to the car. As soon as I am done recovering and going through physical therapy, I will sign up and practice again. I think I may have found a new hobby. When you go here, parking is street parking and you may have to park away from the studio. Lots of adults and kids come together to practice and they all treat their peers respectfully and they always clean the mats when the last class is finished. Class times are perfect for those who work a typical 9-5 job as well. Judo is a high impact sport, but dont be afraid to try!!
