Made an appt for 90 min massage. May was the masseuse. I filled out the card indicating my massage preferences ( soft, no stretching). I had to remind May more than 6 times within the first 15 minutes she was too hard and hurting me. She kept saying "im sorry" . That's all she would say. When I asked her to stop working on my back ( as she was hurting me) she said "okay", but didn't stop. I finally sternly told her to stop and she did. Then she began in in my legs and feet, again too hard. I got a severe cramp in one foot. That was enough! I told May I was done. I got up and dressed. I still had 45 min left of my 90 min massage. The manager came out ( ( Wana) and said I had 45 min left. I told her about my experience. She told me I should have asked for the mngr. I told her I would pay for 45 min, she told me it was either 30 min or 60 min. Plain robbery! When i got home i called to advise Wana that I had severe pain in my lower back that I did. Ot have when i went in for my appt. She said she had already talked to May, and May told her she thought she could do the massage. Wana agin said you could have asked for manager within first 15 min of the massage. Really? There is no sign that indicates that. Wana said " there used to be, but I dont know where it is now". When i began to tell her how paying for an hour when i got a horrible 45 min massage, she cut me off. I told her." You need to listen to me, so you know how my experience was,,". The process was easy and the person taking my information over the phone was friendly. I called for an appointment for the same day in the AM - happily, I was able to get the time I wanted that very evening. Travel and parking: The place was easy to find although getting parking was a small challenge. The best parking is found directly behind the business. Any other parking spot you can find, you may either risk getting towed, or inconvenience other customers as parking lots not belonging to Ancient Thai Message belong to other businesses. Signs were clearly posted. My message experience: I requested the Thai Message and asked for it STRONG, with emphasis on the neck, shoulders, arms, and lower back. I certainly got what I asked for! Although I asked for emphasis on specific areas, I got an overall body message including my lower legs, thighs, and hips. That was a good thing. If you are not familiar with a Thai Message, they basically walk on you with the masseuse relying on overhead support - hanging on a beam, post, or handle - to apply accuracy and vary the level of pressure during the message. Disrobing down to my skimpies requested. I thoroughly enjoyed my message, not because I was in my skimpies but because the masseuse was skilled in their step when using their feet, heels, bottoms and toes. Some parts of the massage, requested strong, was borderline painful but still enjoyable. The session included stretches that I would not be able to achieve on my own, these of which were really gratifying. Water and tea can also be enjoyed during your visit after the message. I would absolutely go back! Additional thoughts: First time Thai Message experiences, in my opinion, should not be requested strong. If you are frail or sensitive, perhaps request soft or mild. Strength level changes could also be requested mid session - just speak up. Lastly, if you have any history of surgeries including the placement of hardware, screws, IM rods, pins - please inform the business prior to your session and perhaps they can make an expert recommendation so you can still enjoy a message. It's a full-body massage and they'll ask you what areas you would like to focus on and if you would like some Thai massage-style stretching as part of your service. Simple but relaxing setting. Friendly staff. Don't forget this is THAI massage. Asian style massage unique in that masseuses use their whole body weight, knees, elbows, etc which is actually more effective in getting some good deep tissue massaging and work out those knots! This is not the eye cucumber and face mask type of massage. If you've never had Thai massage then google/youtube a bit to see if it's right for you.
