If I could give a negative review I would. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. After your dress is ordered and money has been received this store doesn't give two cent's about you. For my wedding all of my bridesmaids dresses were ordered here, so a total of 4 dresses ordered. Originally we went to another boutique but because this store offered a discount when ordering all together we went this route. BIG MISTAKE. 2 of my bridesmaids had issues with their dresses. My sister's dress came with stains all over the dress and the zipper needing to be replaced. After calling the store and informing them of the issue we were told that we would be reimbursed for the tailor needing to replace the zipper as well as an additional discount due to the stains on the dress. After that conversation not another peep nor has any reimbursement been made. Several emails have been sent as well as voice messages left but not even the decency of a return phone call or return email. I find this to be extremely unprofessional and down right rude. So for my wedding day my sister had to wear a stained dress. My maid of honor had to have her dress completely taken apart and put back together again. My sister had to be a certain angles for photo's so you couldn't see the stains. While some may have a great experience, my warning would be choose carefully because it's easy picking out the dresses and trying them on, everyone is always polite and understanding during that process. But when it comes to issues and a stores ability to make the situation right this store loses on every level that counts. read more

I had the BEST appointment here and ended up finding my dream dress with Taki's help. The boutique is gorgeous and full of incredibly well-made gowns from lots different designers. From lace, to silk, to chiffon, low back to conservative - they have so many styles for brides looking for timeless chic dresses. The space small, which makes it intimate. The only hold two appointments at a time so you really feel the special treatment. Taki was one of the best salespeople I've ever dealt with - she made me feel SO comfortable and answered all our questions. I made a mistake with my order and the owner (Danielle) and Tiarra did everything in their power to correct it. This was my first appointment dress shopping, and I picked it because they are the only shop in San Francisco to carry a particular designer I was looking for. I loved that during the booking of the appointment, they ask you for your Pinterest board link and what you're looking for so they're prepped for you when you come in. I don't love that they charge you a $20 fee to book an appointment, but I understand that it's a small shop and they need to keep appts booked. Lena was my stylist, and my group was the only one in the shop. It was a bit confusing because it's two bridal salons next to each other, connected on the inside, but we eventually figured it out. Because I knew that I wanted to try a particular designer, we pulled all those dresses + a few more. With a one-hour appointment, I tried on about six dresses and we were definitely right at the top of the hour. I didn't find my dress, but I feel like if I had, and I'd wanted to be in it a bit longer to decide, there wouldn't have been time. It's a pretty shop though - and it seemed like the variety of dresses is pretty limited, but I'm not sure if that's just because I was really only trying on the designer/style I had pre-chosen. read more

Just got done with my dress search, so here come the million reviews of bridal shops... But in all seriousness. My experience at And Something Blue was nothing short of wonderful. I had two appointments here, one by myself and one with my mom who flew 3,000 miles to see my top choices (what a lady). I was so nervous about dress shopping alone, but my consultant Tiarra made me feel totally at ease. She gave me great feedback and opinions and was totally able to read my style. She also takes bomb-ass photos of you in your gown to send your family on the other side of the country. I fell in love with a Sarah Janks dress (added in the photos section). It was one of my top 2 dresses. Ultimately I decided to go with a dress from another shop that was a completely different vibe (I'm a Gemini, it's how it goes). You'll fit right in here if you're a laid back kind of girl looking for a dress that's a little less mainstream and a bit more creative. They have just the right amount of selection- enough to cover your tastes but not too many that you get overwhelmed. Dresses aren't cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. There is plenty to see here under $3k. Lovely neighborhood, lovely shop, lovely dresses, and lovely consultants. Give Tiarra a call and she will hook you up- you won't regret it. SIDE NOTE: I've seen some people complain about getting there early and not being allowed in, but that didn't seem to be an issue for me at all. A: It states it right on their website. Don't get there early or late, get there on time. It's pretty simple. Follow the rules and you won't have a problem. It's like another shop I went to that said "No Dogs, No Kids", and yet there were dogs, AND kids. Beyond irritating. B: It's a small shop. Have you gone bridal shopping in a small space with people wandering around? I have, and it's NOT fun. It's overwhelming, and crowded. They do this so that all parties involved have an intimate and private experience. They do this for YOU. On that note, I did arrive 5 minutes early, and with no one else in the shop they had no problem letting us in. So if you get there early, poke your head in but be polite about it! I would avoid this boutique at all costs. The initial consultation was nothing to write home about. They don't let you touch the dresses, which makes it very difficult to look at the dress and see if it's even worth trying on. Luckily for me, I was there to try on a very specific dress. The woman helping me wasn't helpful or informed on the designer of the dress. I ended up purchasing the dress that day, along with an accessory and prepaid shipping because I wasn't from the area. Fast forward 6 months and I receive an email stating that the dress is ready and to come pick it up (even though I paid to have it shipped) and that I can only come to pick up the dress and cannot stay at the boutique. Weird statement... until I saw that the owner accidentally included internal correspondence in the email where she was bad-mouthing another bride for the fact that she spent a long time at the boutique after picking up her dress. Yes, god forbid someone spend a bit of time after spending thousands of dollars at your business. I spent that day going back and forth with the store employees who were either too busy to help me or had no idea what was going on. They had no idea what dress or accessory I got, continuously called me by the wrong name, told me I had to come pick up the dress and hadn't paid for shipping... all of which was untrue since I had all of my receipts. They must have given up because I then got a call from the former owner who was asked to help me, probably because I was getting upset with the current ownership. She was great and got me my dress and accessory. That being said, the dress came in a squished box with a thin plastic cover that you get from like the dry cleaner. Again, was hoping for just a bit more for something costing so much money. TL;DR - this boutique has a severe lack of professionalism that just doesn't belong in this industry. I was very excited to go here to look for my wedding dress! I had a Sunday appointment for 1pm, and I arrived 10 minutes early to find no one in the shop and the lights all off. I had paid $125.00 for a 2 hour appointment, and no one was there. I proceeded to call the shop and leave a message. Half an hour of waiting later, the owner called me to tell me the sales assistant was running late. She arrived about 20 minutes later. I joined her inside, and once we got settled I had one of the worst shopping experiences of my life. Very unprofessional, not inclusive at ALL unless you happen to be a sample size, and frankly fairly body shaming. Without exaggeration, I stormed out in tears. I recently got married (2 weeks ago) and I had met the previous owner, Danielle in an Uber and she encouraged me to check out the shop. I never had an appointment here because when I called to schedule one, the girl on the phone asked what size I am. After I told her I didn't know because my body has changed, she asked I I was larger than a 6. I am and she proceeded to tell me none of the dresses would fit and I should try David's bridal where they would have a dress my size. This was huge disappointment and this shop indeed does not belong in the bridal business. I too, understand sample sizes, but dresses can be ordered in any size. I did find my dream dress and it didn't come from David's! I brought my wedding dress to Irina at And Something Blue for some alterations, and I was blown away by the service I received. She and Helen both dove into helping me as if I was a dear friend whose wedding they would stop at nothing to make ideal, and with whom they would be nothing but 100% honest. At one point, I asked if Irina thought a pair of earrings she was selling would look good with my dress, and she told me that no, they were the wrong shape. She pointed me to a different pair that was better suited, but then said "if I were you, I'd just stick to the ones you have -- they look great and then you don't have to spend more money." Not only was she right (they were great!), but it was that kind of honesty that made me feel like I was in good hands. In short, it was the best experience I could have asked for: they were efficient, kind, and gracious, and their alterations were perfect. I'm based in Seattle, but my family is in California, so we scheduled appointments at four different wedding dress boutiques in San Francisco in one day. My appointment at And Something Blue was the third, and after the first two appointments, we were feeling a bit disappointed at the dresses I tried and experiences we had, which ranged from not well-fitting, not what I was looking for, hurried, etc. We arrived a bit early to our appointment at And Something Blue, and Claire kindly let us start early. At that point, I had gotten an idea of what styles I liked on myself, and Claire encouraged me to speak my mind if I wasn't keen on a dress. She let me pick out a couple dresses I had my eye on in the shop and she picked out a couple more. The funny thing is, I actually shot down "the one" when she initially showed it to me, but after trying on a couple other dresses, she brought it back and I tried it on for the heck of it, and then my mom was nodding, my sister was nodding, and we knew. Something that I also loved was that Claire knew my venue (Park Winters) since she had actually done an event there, so she could actually picture the dress in the location and we were able to connect on how much we loved the place as well. I tried on a couple more dresses after "the one", but they only further solidified our choice, and we ended up going back to "the one" and started trying on different veils and belts to go with the dress. We had such a lovely time with Claire, who was kind, enthusiastic, and ultimately had the eye for picking out the dress that we all loved on me. Comparing with the other shops I had gone to previously, this one is not too large and not too overwhelming, but also not too small where there isn't much choice. The dresses at ASB didn't require too much clamps and finangling during the trying process, which really helps in terms of getting an idea of how the dress looks (and also doesn't make you feel bad about yourself, which is a plus). I came here with my friend and part of the bridal party to look for her wedding dress. The lady who was helping her with the dresses continued to emphasize how much time was left in the appointment from the very beginning. This made my friend feel very rushed and pushed to make a decision. This was her first time trying on dresses for her wedding and she said it really stressed her out how much she felt pushed. She said as she was in the changing room with the lady helping her as soon as she got in the dress the lady asked her "what do you think? Do you like this dress? If you don't like it you need to change because we don't have lots of time". She only had 5 dresses she wanted to try on in the one hour appointment.. it was very strange how rushed she was. I also found it weird they don't offer any types of beverages (champagne, water, tea) during bridal dress shopping. My friend ended up finding the dress she liked but the experience overall felt very rushed. The location itself is a very small boutique bridal shop with a variety of dresses. Such a cute little bridal boutique! They revamped their look and their decor is super super cute! It's all black with glitz of gold here and there. The fitting rooms are even better! All pink and white graffiti with hints of gold. There is even pink and gold jacquard print all over! Anyway there is short and long dresses in almost every color! I had such a great experience at And Something Blue! Out of all the bridal shops I visited during my wedding dress search, this place was definitely one of my faves. The store is absolutely beautiful with great lighting and a beautiful selection of dresses, and the service was superb. Special shout-out to my stylist, Sahra, for being such a hype woman and pulling gorgeous dresses for me to try on-each dress just kept getting better and better! Unfortunately I didn't go with a dress from here, but I can strongly say that Sahra really helped me narrow down certain styles that worked for my body type and also my venue. She also was able to get me to actually like a fitted dress! (Side note: was totally against a fitted dress!) I always say now that I wouldn't have chosen my dream wedding dress if I didn't meet and work with Sahra at And Something Blue :) She really helped a girl out! But what a great experience! I did not have a great experience here. At the time I booked my appointment, I communicated my budget (which isn't all that low) and was assured they had styles in my price range. However, when I arrived, they seemed surprised to hear my budget, and said they had only 2-3 options in that range. Furthermore, the customer service isn't great. My appointment was at 10am, and I arrived around 10 minutes early. When I walked in, I was greeted with a blank stare as if they were wondering why I was there. Um...hello why is anyone here?! I literally had to say "I have an appointment at 10am". They then seemed super stressed even though nobody was in there and said they weren't ready for me. It was awkward so I went across the street for 10 mins and then came back. The associate that helped me was lovely, but there were limited options to try on. I tried on 2 dresses, and with the last one, the older woman there (I'm assuming the owner) came over in what my mind was to push the sale. She kept telling me that "for sure this is your dress". Ladies, let me tell you, this dress did NOT look good! I did not appreciate the salesy vibe. Unbelievably bad experience at "And Something Blue." The process started off fine, but the last two appointments were atrocious, and of course it was too late to go somewhere else. My fiancé has been in tears for days. They just didn't put in any of the work to fit the dress to her body. There are still tears in the dress... still ink markings, and on top of it all, the dress is too short. THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET THAT RIGHT. It's unreal. I cannot believe this place is in business. I did not have a great experience at this bridal salon. This was my 2nd boutique I visited on my first day of trying on dresses. Things started off rocky as we came to the area following my first appointment since we live in the Peninsula. We knew we were much too early to check in so we hung outside. One of the sales girls came outside to check on us and when we said we were just waiting for an upcoming appointment she responded, "oh ya, you're way too early to check in" yes, we knew that. We continued to wait and then were only a couple minutes from the scheduled appointment so this time I checked to see if we were almost ready to begin. I asked the girl at the desk who said she would check with the stylist, but I never got another update. We continued to wait outside. Finally, a couple mins after my appointment start time my stylist came out to greet us. We entered and I knew it was a smaller salon. This was my first day trying on dresses so I did have a larger party with me (4 guests) which was commented on by the stylist in a negative way - it seemed almost difficult for them to accomodate seating for everyone and made me super uncomfortable about it - she added that more opinions/voices would only make the process more difficult. I understand where she is coming from, but it was still a situation that could've remained in a positive light, but did not. We talked about my vision and budget and started grabbing dresses from the racks. We picked a lot. I started the fitting portion which went well, but also felt rushed. I was extremely hot and it was a lot of back & forth. I never got any updates on where we were at with timing until the stylist mentioned we are now over the time alotted. I wish she gave more countdowns and updates throughout the appointment. We did find some really lovely dresses, but in the end the experience and customer service was just not there for me read more

I'm so glad that I got my wedding dress at And Something Blue! I found a dress that I liked online, and tried it on in the salon. I loved it! After ordering it and then doing a few fittings where they took in the bodice and did the hem, it was perfect. They were quick to respond to questions and were very knowledgeable. They asked good questions about my venue and what I'd be doing at the wedding. They helped with little details like adding small pieces of fabric to the bodice to prevent the bra clasp from poking out! I even asked them to custom make me some sleeves which they made out of the extra train fabric. I highly recommend And Something Blue! read more

In Feb 2020 I was engaged and right away started contacting places to try on wedding dresses as our original wedding date was going to be in oct 2020. Something blue was one of the first places I reached out to to try on dresses as I lived close to the salon and Sacramento st has been a fav spot of mine shopping. I had always loved the dresses in their shop and when looking online they carried some of the designers I was interesting in. Irina and Helen were a dream to work with and were so accommodating throughout the entire journey and process. My original appointment had to be cancelled as the city shutdown and they stayed in constant communication with me as we navigated when I would be able to come try on dresses. Finally was able to come into the salon, one of the first days they were allowed to be opened and they pulled different styles and dresses for me. After 2 more visits I knew this one dress was for me as nothing else compared to it and said yes to my dress in May 2020 (a Helen Miller dress). At this point I knew I wanted some changes to the dress and Helen and Irina were so great to work with me on what we could adjust and change (I wanted a different top of the dress than the original design). The bottom of the dress was started and when I was due to go in and do my final measurements for the top we had to make the decision to postpone our wedding to 2021. They were so great to reassure me that it was going to be ok and that they would hold the dress safe aboard where it was being made and we would pick it back up in 2021. I was so grateful for this as when I picked back up the design on the dress in summer of 2021 some of my ideas had changed and they were able to work with me to design what I had envisioned. While leading up to my wedding in October 2021 Irina worked her magic on many other dresses and items for wedding events. She did wonders on a jumpsuit that needed alterations and a dress for my bachelorette that needed to be taken in. I had Irina do multiple of my bridesmaids dress alterations and they even did my husbands tux pants 2 days before the wedding in 2021. Overall, Irina and Helen were truly wedding angels throughout my almost 2 year journey and were so incredible to me, my family and friends. I will continue to go back to them for any alterations and will highly recommend them to any of my friends and family that are looking their perfect dress. They really treat their customers like family and I will treasure all the moments and stories that we shared in the salon. read more

What a charming, pretty little gem full of gorgeous wedding gowns and accessories! I found my wedding dress through a pop up event in San Francisco and since I wanted to try it on once more before I ordered it, I called some local bridal salons near me to see who carried this particular dress. And Something Blue carried my dress in a different color, so I brought my mom, mother in law to be and aunt to try it on. The interior of the shop is so fun, vintage couches, gorgeous mirrors and chandliers and an overall romantic feminine vibe. We loved it. I did not care for the dress in the particular color they had, but Sam was so helpful in finding and ordering my dress in the shade I wanted. My dress just came in last week and my mom, bridesmaid and her mom all went in to pick it up and try it on one more time. My bridesmaid brought her dress so we could try them on together and see if my vision was going to work out- it ABSOLUTELY did, my dress was stunning and I really have to thank the ladies at And Something Blue for making the process easy, fun and really making me feel beautiful. The owner even popped up and was so pleased and complimentary with our dresses, it was the perfect dress experience. During my first appointment, they were very helpful and I quickly found the perfect dress since I already had an idea of what I wanted. I was able to come in before my alteration appointments to try on shoes and other accessories, and the alterations, though they sounded pretty complicated in my opinion, tuned out perfect! Can I give 10 stars? And Something Blue is something you never see these days: above and beyond service, by capable, discreet and caring people in a beautiful environment. I tried on several gorgeous and almost perfect dresses at my And Something Blue fitting. This was my 5th Bridal Salon and everything about the experience was so much more intimate, personal, fun and yes, "non-commercial". I'm an older bride and was struggling with how to make "older" and "bride" work together. The way Taki looked at me made me feel pretty. She was quiet, and honest. She listened well. And she assessed each dress and honestly let me know what worked and didn't work. No selling. Just listening, caring and helping. All of that by itself would deserve 5 stars. Right? Here's why And Something Blue gets 10 stars from me... In the end I did not buy my dress from And Something Blue. I did however follow up with their seamstress, Qiu, about alterations on the dress I bought elsewhere. Feeling sheepish about texting her and explaining my situation, she responded immediately and suggested I meet her at the shop for a fitting. On the day of my fitting, I sheepishly walked into And Something Blue carrying a dress not purchased from their darling shop. I was stunned when the staff greeted me with joy as if I were their best customer. Qiu was incredible as she eye'd and adjusted and pinned my dress asking many questions and educating me each step of the way. When I returned to pick up my dress, again I was greeted with warmth and smiles and the dress fit perfectly. I recently went back to the shop, dress in hand, with some questions about the bustle and again, was greeted with smiles by Taki and Qiu. At no extra charge, Qiu spent 30 minutes showing me how to work the bustle and arrange all the layers so everything will lay flat and smooth. During my four visits to And Something Blue I had the opportunity to observe Taki and team with many brides, maids and mothers. In each instance the customer and her entourage were treated to the same caring, personal service. Oh! Did I mention they have the most stunning and unique dresses? And are very competitively priced? If you're tired of the strapless cinderella dress, this is your store. It's not a warehouse. It's a couture experience curated with a strong eye for style, elegance, line and fabric. If you've got discerning taste, you'll feel you've landed where you belong. In the stress and exhilaration of your wedding, don't miss the opportunity to spend a few hours at And Something Blue. I had a bridal appt yesterday. I am a size 12/14, depending on the designer. I made this appt in advance and even left them my measurements and size requirements ahead of time, in the hope that I would be able to try dresses that would actually fit me. I came here on recommendation of a friend who got her dress here who was also a size 12/14, who said they would have my size to try. Instead, I was asked to squeeze myself into size 8/10s. It was a very frustrating experience, despite the good nature of the attendant. How my friend and I could have polar opposite experiences is not good. I saw a dress that I would like to try, but again, it wasn't my size. So the girl made me an appt. I thought she said it was in March, but she had actually made the appt for May which is too soon to my wedding date. Bridal needs to catch up. The expectation of any bride is to have dresses for her to try that will be in her size. read more

No love. I walked in the door to meet my soon to be sister-in-law (SIL) at Something Blue and was amazed at all the beautiful overpriced clothes. *sigh* If only I had a million bucks to spend. Anyhoo, the sales associates completely ignored me when I walked in. I seriously felt invisible. They did not even look up once from their chatting on the phone or mindless magazine reading. I walked all around the store in search for my SIL and couldn't find her and her sisters. And let me tell you - it was quite obvious that I was looking for someone! I finally went up to the lady standing behind the register and told her that I was meeting my SIL. And she says, 'Oh right, they're right in there", and waves her hand in the direction of the dressing rooms. Talk about lousy service. Snobby little girls who could care less, waiting for their retarded prince to sweep them off their Jimmy Choo wearin stilettos and buy them their mansion and have 2.5 brats. I don't need this abuse thank you very much. They really were the epitome of the word bitches. Three stars for the beautiful dresses. Minus two stars for the ugly hearted girls. read more

I really try to avoid leaving negative reviews, but I don't want any other brides out there to have the experience I had with this salon. Long story short, I live in Los Angeles, but my mom lives closer to San Francisco and we wanted to meet in the middle for wedding dress shopping. I also used to live in the Bay Area and was more comfortable shopping there as opposed to LA. I spoke with Tiarra about wanting my mom to be able to be there, and made an appointment a month in advance, which Tiarra confirmed. I was really looking forward to it! One week before my appointment, I got a very generic email stating the following: "Thank you so much for contacting ...and something blue. We are so sorry that we can not accommodate your requested appointment time, you are now at the top of our wait list. We also noticed that you live in Los Angeles and as of right now we are trying to give priority to brides that live in our area. In our experience we find that brides tend to purchase dresses closer to where they live because the process of getting fitted becomes too complicated from a distance. If there is a special reason why you are planning on purchasing your dress with us, rather than where you live, we will try and squeeze you in somewhere. We hope you understand we are a boutique store with a limited number of appointments and staff, so we have to prioritize somewhere. We are so sorry if this is a disappointment. We really do hate saying no, because after all, isn't the whole part of getting married to say YES!" Needless to say, I was baffled. Basically, I got the feeling that I wasn't worth their time because in their experience, I wasn't likely to purchase my dress from them because I didn't live locally. "We really hate saying no.." REALLY?! I found out later that Tiarra was evidently sick that day, and that someone else had sent me the email without knowing the details of my situation. She later emailed me and offered to honor my appointment, but truthfully, I didn't feel like my situation was unusual in any way, and I had no interest in giving this salon any of my business after they had so blatantly disrespected me and my wedding dress shopping experience. Most of my friends still live in the Bay Area, and I will not be recommending And Something Blue to any of them. I went in for a preliminary appointment today, and was not very impressed by my experience. Here's what happened: I showed up 15 minutes early, and there was no one there. I was trying to be a good customer and be on time, and the store was closed, with no staff in sight. I understand you are appointment only, but the store should be staffed 10-15 minutes prior to an appointment, as a courtesy to customers who travel in. The woman who helped me (Sam) was not very interested in her job, and her attire was not very professional. This is a wedding shop. Make more of an effort to present yourself in a professional way. Her attitude was tired and lacked excitement. She kept pulling the wrong styles for me, even though I was very clear on what I was looking for. She even told me not to touch the dresses on the hangers, for fear of them "catching" on one another. (umm, what?!) Overall, I was not impressed, and I'm sure there are stores out there that have a wider selection at a better price with friendlier, more professional staff. **Update**: Received a call from Sam, who said that there was a staff member present when I showed up. Strange, because they weren't on the floor, and didn't answer when I knocked and rang the doorbell multiple times. She was super offended by my comments on her attire, and proceeded to criticize the way I dressed (I was in normal jeans and a t-shirt, BTW). Unbelievable. Your customers are potentially paying you THOUSANDS of dollars to be treated well and have a great experience. All you had to do was own up to the fact that today was not your day. I recently had an appointment at ... And Something Blue and was left feeling frustrated through the entire process. After my appointment I went through reading some of the reviews on YELP and realised I was not the only one having similar issues. Like any business, there will be mixed reviews and I believe some of the negative ones go on about things they DO warn you about, i.e. showing up to your appointment early. Also, the fact that they are a boutique bridal shop and pride themselves on their uniqueness as they are NOT your mothers bridal shop. That is evident through out their website and shop. The reviews that touch on those facts I believe do not hold relevance and are just a lack of the individuals research. I did however have a difficult experience with this shop that I feel needs to be shared. Firstly, I was attracted to ...And Something Blue because they advocated everything I stand for. I am not a traditional bride and expected to find a dress here that suited. I must let you know that my situation is different, but not far off from girls that had already left reviews on here before. I am originally from the Bay Area, but moved to New Zealand three years ago to be with my Fiance who is from there. Dress shopping has always been something I wanted to do with my mother who lives only 45 minutes out of the city. I had intentionally planned a trip home for three weeks to do these things with her as the next time we'd see each other would be for my wedding in NZ. I found it very difficult I could not get a simple confirmation from them via e-mail and had to call them internationally to follow up as I was not in the country yet. Not to mention, I had to go through explaining myself of why I wanted to try dresses on in SF opposed to NZ and found I was repeating myself multiple times. Eventually, through playing a little tug of war, they accepted my appointment and I was hoping that was the end of that. They proceeded to warn me on the phone that shipping overseas would be expensive of which I understood and take responsibility for. After all, it's my choice to go shopping for a dress in SF and not in NZ for a legitimate reason, therefore they should not be the ones deciding where I go dress shopping. As any bride who has booked an appointment with them would know, there is a questionnaire they have you fill out prior to booking your first appointment. Now jump forward to the big day and the attendant, in my case, Taki, is asking those same questions AGAIN and entering my answers in on her lap top. I'm sorry, but this to me did not seem professional. As questionnaires appeared to be regular procedure through out other boutique bridal shops, I did not question it at the time of booking, but at least those shops went through the effort to study it before I showed up to my appointment. If you needed me to elaborate on something, fine, that's understandable, but I don't believe she had even read my answers before. As she invites me to go through the dresses, Taki asks me the generic questions like "What style am I looking for?" Now, I am all for trying different things, but after she pulls out dress after dress of ones "she" likes, I was questioning if she was evening listening to me at all. Apparently they have a no touching rule as well. I found this out quickly as she said under her breathe that the stylists are the only ones who can touch them in fear they may be ruined by getting caught on each other. THIS would have been nice to know in advance. Instead I was left feeling like a little kid getting in trouble. This day was supposed to be about ME not the dresses. This was the only place out of the five shops I looked at that had this rule and I found it completely frustrating to have to ask to look at a specific dress. After going through the shop I had a good variety of dresses to try on. I believe they do have a good selection and my complaints are only about the customer service I received through out this entire experience. At one point the stylist was complaining to me about how hot she was feeling as I was standing there practically naked. The entire hour with her really put me off. As we're wapping up I asked if she was going to take my measurements, every other place I had been to that day had. She proceeds to tell me that's for the second appointment when we decide to buy. HELLO!! Did she forget already I was only in SF for a limited amount of time and that I may not be able to come back for a second appointment??? I know I am not a typical client, but would have expected them to figure out that my case was different and that they would accommodate. Later that day I received an email about the dresses I liked and their prices. Low and behold they go on to say, "So, we actually don't ship outside of the country, but if you decide to go with any of the dresses, your mom can pick it up and ship it to you." I guess these girls really do not want my business. Ultimately disappointed. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience here. My sister was looking forward to the appointment as her friend recommended the boutique. I booked an appointment online about 5-6 weeks prior and received an email confirmation shortly after. My sister and I arrived promptly at our scheduled time and were asked to take a seat by the receptionist. The ambiance is beautiful and very inviting. One of the stylists came over moments later and immediately said "what was your name?" We told her. Then she said "Oh so, we would love to have you as one of our brides BUT you're actually on the waitlist. Sorry if you found our system confusing but as you can see here, we have 2 other brides scheduled." She then proceeded to show us her computer. Her tone was condescending and non-apologetic and actually made us feel incredibly uncomfortable. The boutique is small and can only accommodate 2 brides at a time. As she was asking us to leave, we were 5 minutes into the allotted appointment time and NO ONE else was in the salon. Not only that, but we would of been the last appointment of the day. They told us they would "call if the other brides didn't show." In any other situation I would have obviously understood, these things happen. However, the way it was handled made us feel like second class citizens and that we didn't have deep enough pockets to be there. Of course 10 minutes later, they were calling us to come back to the salon, we ignored the call (my sister was too uncomfortable and we had come off two wonderful appointments earlier that day so we were fine with it). If they showed sympathy, had instead said "let's find another time" or "we apologize for the confusion" and genuinely seemed apologetic, we would of absolutely come back. Overall, it was very clear that their time is and was, more important then ours. For those reasons alone I would never recommend this place. However, I would recommend Amy Kuschel in Union Square and Lovely Bridal on Union Street. Amazing experience, beautiful gowns and really friendly staff. read more

I am honestly floored that there are so many great reviews for this place! Maybe I just had a totally random TERRIBLE experience. I went with three of my bridesmaids and we were treated pretty terribly. The saleswoman seemed annoyed that we had been to Bella Bridesmaid earlier - I told her just so that we could discuss what dresses we had like and disliked. When we were ready to try on a few dresses, she took us to a random back office area that was messy and had them change behind a curtain that was barely standing up. The whole time they were trying on, etc., she was checking out things online and again, seemed really annoyed when we didn't like something or asked about color or length. Anyway, no need to go on, but we had a terrible experience here. I had to whisk my bridesmaids over to Tortilla Heights to make them feel better with a few margaritas. Oh well. read more

Update as of 8/12 in response to vendor's reply: Danielle - I fully understand and acknowledge your store policy. This is not the issue. The condition of the dress was not in question at any point either. The issue was how you handled a customer's situation. Not to mention I fully arrived during business hours (around lunch time) on Wednesday, July 3rd. Despite you trying to close the door in my face and stating you were closing early for July 4th, there were no signs on the door or an update made to your store voicemail announcing an early close. I would recommend putting a practice in place to ensure all future customers are aware of your holiday schedules. I am getting married in November this year. I gave myself plenty of time to find a dress and went to Colorado for dress shopping with my mom in April, and purchased a dress at that time. I received my dress in July and was mortified to find that the proportions were so incorrect, my dress looked absolutely awful. It was the most hideous, unflattering dress that I could possibly have on my body. I was working with the bridal salon in Colorado to try to get an exchange on my dress (not easy with a bridal salon), but in the meantime, I needed to find somewhere in San Francisco - very quickly - to get a backup wedding dress. I found And Something Blue on Yelp on July 28th and grabbed their first available in late August. The next day I received a call back to confirm my booking, and the lady on the phone (I didn't catch her name) was able to push me through on July 31st! It was literally 2 days between me finding ASB online and actually getting into an appointment. For a bridal store, that is AMAZING! I had my appointment on 7/31 with Tiye. I explained to Tiye the nightmare I had gone through, and we were both fully understanding that I was essentially stuck with off-the-rack given my wedding is coming up so soon. I am okay with that, I just needed a dress ASAP even if I didn't love it as much as my original purchase. Tiye was incredibly attentive and helpful. The majority of sample dresses at ASB were fitted and strapless, which is GORGEOUS, just not on myself. Tiye managed to find 5 or 6 dresses that were along the lines of what I was looking for, so we started there. The dresses she pulled were absolutely beautiful, and I could definitely tell that she really paid attention to me when I was describing the styles I like, the styles that are flattering on me, and what I am open to trying. She managed to pull a strapless dress and overlay a lace bolero that was absolutely beautiful. I put it on hold for a week to make sure no one else could snatch up my precious sample while I found out what was going on in Colorado. Not only did Tiye pull beautiful dresses for my body (finding them from a relatively small selection), but she was very honest with me as I tried them on, and excited for me when I was excited about the dress. I had to do this dress shopping alone since my mother and sister don't live here (I also don't have any girlfriends in SF) - not only was I already heartbroken over my original purchase, but having to do this all alone really hurt. It was really upsetting and lonely. Tiye acted like my best friend from start to finish, and I really felt like I had a friend there to help me. She made the day so special and brought back the joy I felt when I first tried on dresses. My made-to-order dress ended up working out perfectly after the salon agreed to exchange it for the sample. I didn't end up purchasing the dress from ASB. The thing that is so wonderful is this - I'm sure they work on some, if not all, commission at ASB. Tiye knew going into my appointment that it was a 50% chance I would buy a dress even if I did find one I loved. However, the attention and help she gave to me, as well as making my day feel special - you would think I was buying every dress in there. She was such a pleasure to work with, and I am sort of sad I didn't get the chance to buy a dress from her. Although I can't speak to the after-purchase process with ASB, the experience they gave me from setting an appointment within 48 hours, to Tiye acting like a close friend, makes me feel confident that their service is nothing less than astounding from start to finish. I can't recommend And Something Blue enough to a bride looking for her perfect dress. read more
