The Ball Gown created a balance hour glass figure by cinching the natural waist and extending outward . The materials are usually satin , organza or layers of tulle to maintain a grand , floating shape . This place is popular. A appointment is a must . They charged $55 for one hour of trying on 10 gowns with a stylist . It may run over time a little bit but they did not charge us more . Each bride to be and friends got their own changing room and full body mirror , sofa to sit and wait . They serve you ice water with no charge and a menu to order latter and other drinks for a fee . Our personal stylist is Tiffany . She is great . Very patient and helpful to help the bride to come to the conclusion of what type of wedding gowns she actually likes the most . It was an elimination process . We started with 10 gowns and went down to the top two at the end . The prices vary depending on the materials. It ranges about $2000 to $6000 . Veil And alternation fee are extra . It takes 6 months to order a wedding gown if your choice. Then two months before your wedding day they would made smaller adjustments and alterations to fit you perfectly. After recommendations from friends, I purchased my wedding dress from Janene's Bridal San Francisco in September 2025 for my wedding in May 2026, and my family and I had a fun and memorable experience trying on dresses. The following months, however, were filled with uncertainty and confusion about when my dress would arrive. With an estimated delivery timeline of 4-6 months, I initially tried not to worry. In December, I was informed that my gown was in the final stages of production, and I paid the remaining balance. As March approached, my family and friends began to grow concerned alongside me. While the responses to my calls and emails were reassuring, it became increasingly difficult not to feel anxious as the wedding date drew closer and our energy and attention needed to be focused on other aspects of wedding planning. We were told that the delays originated with the designer. This is understandably not in their control, but more proactive communication and transparency about the situation earlier in the process would have been appreciated. Ultimately, the dress shipped at the end of April and arrived in early May. Despite this experience, I am still giving Janene's Bridal Alameda 4 stars because of the kind and responsive staff. The alterations team did an excellent job with only about 2 weeks to work with, and every staff member was pleasant. I especially appreciated Jessica, Tiffany, and Mary Ann for being so accommodating, patient, and supportive throughout the process. At one point, I left an item there and the team were very communicative about searching for and locating the item until my return. Most importantly, the business went above and beyond to compensate me for the inconvenience and stress of receiving my dress so close to my wedding date. After everything that happened, I was hesitant to have my alterations done at Janene's, but the team ultimately turned the experience around and made it a positive one. She helped both my sister and I choose dresses and I sent my friend to her as well (: Tiffany is an expert listener and really helps you hone in on how each dress makes you feel to get you to the perfect dress. I am finally mustering up the courage to write a review. My experience here was an absolute nightmare. When I tried on my dress in San Francisco, the sales associate initially clipped me in the back so it looked "snatched," even though the dress was a size 12 and I'm a size 4. She assured me that with alterations it would look exactly the way it did in the fitting room. Based on that, I bought their dress. Huge mistake. The dress itself was out of the box so the cost was slightly cheaper than your typical dress. ~$900+ Why not educate the bride to purchase a dress that better fits your body? Oh because if you require alterations, their alteration shop in alameda could pick up the job. When I took the dress to Janese's alterations in alameda, I was quoted with a $1000+ bill just for hemming and alterations. And instead of 1-2 fittings like any normal hem and alteration shop, I had to make 6-7 separate trips across the bay bridge--wasting time and gas--because for whatever reason, that is how their system worked (you have to trust the process). After the fourth visit, the dress looked nothing like the one I had originally tried on. When I asked them to fix it further, they tried to charge me AGAIN. I demanded to speak with Janene directly, and she heard my voice start to crack as I almost started to cry. Between wedding planning and dealing with a dress that I no longer loved. She said "ok, we'll do it for you." If you look at the photo, it just looks like I am drowning in the dress. I guess part of it is my fault for not doing more research but this shop should take some accountability. I wish I would've shopped earlier and spent my money elsewhere. My biggest recommendation is to buy a dress that actually fits you. Sure they have experience bringing in a dress from size 20 to a size 4 so they say.. At the end of the day, after taking the dress in, your dress will no longer look like the dress you've envisioned. This shop is a total scam--dishonest sales tactics, sky-high hidden costs, and endless wasted time. Save yourself the stress and do your research! The store itself is beautiful, they have plenty of options, and the sales associates are friendly. I just wish they would educate you and not take advantage of you. read more

I booked an appointment after looking through reviews and from a recent bride. There's a good range of prices for dresses, and they're all separated by designer then fitted silhouettes to ball gown/voluminous ones. This shop is also located in a big plaza, so parking can be tricky. Carpool if you can, especially on weekends! I had my appointment with Maesa, and it was such an amazing experience! He was very sweet, respectful, and so helpful with picking dresses and even showing me on an iPad what modifications are possible. We tried on so many (probably 10) and he was very open to any and all feedback that I had. Since this was my 4th dress appointment, I went in knowing what silhouettes are flattering on me and I'm very particular about the neckline. There are so many dresses here and it's a very large space! The process is similar to other boutiques--you have some time to browse and pick 5 dresses, then the stylist can pick some for you based on feedback. Our appointment ran a little longer, but I wasn't even aware since it didn't feel rushed. I got the space with a lot of natural sunlight which helped a lot. Maesa clipped in the dresses well and was knowledgeable in limitations for each dress. I felt like he was in my corner and I could be honest about the dresses! He also went the extra mile to clip the front so I could see what the back looked like fitted. Overall, this was a great experience and I'd definitely recommend to new brides. This former Charming Charlie's location seems like the perfect space now since they have a beautiful open space to display all their dresses. Maesa was my stylist. He was so kind and provided the best service out of all the shops my family and I visited. Their sample dresses are all size 12, so something to be aware of if you're smaller-framed. I needed more of a 2-4, but Maesa helped to clip all the dresses really well to give me a better perspective on how I would feel/look in the dress. I found one dress I liked at Janene's, but I ended up purchasing elsewhere since I found a dress there that I loved.
