There are hiking trails, walking trails, playground for the kids, restrooms are available as well as picnic tables located in a sheltered area. They have a very large pond if you want to kayak and the pond is stocked with fish. Fishing is catch and release and you do need a license to fish in the pond. A great family park and dog friendly! Please pick up after your pets. Leave the park clean and enjoy the day!

There are plenty of spots for fishing but some of them you will need to take a short hike down a gravel road. If you bring a wagon make sure it has bigger wheels but probably best to carry everything to make it easier. There is a fishing dock as well that's pretty big and most definitely is shareable with a few groups. The hiking trail that extends around to the dam is a fun walk since it goes in and out of wooded covering. Makes it great for sunny days as well. The playground is nice and maybe small to moderate size. There are BBQ stands to use and picnic tables. There are bathrooms but not very quick to get to from most parts of the park so keep that in mind. Great place to kayak as well! Great views and since the lake is narrow it makes it feel more like a river to go through. Super fun place! Glad to see them doing more work on it Only criticism is that there is lots of trash and even though it's the patrons fault, the park could do a better job at cleaning it up. Watch your little ones so they don't pick up pokey fish hooks or broken bottles.

The park itself features a small playground, a full court basketball court and lots of soccer fields. If you follow the concrete path near the parking lot towards the patio area and soccer fields you can follow that path around a short trail that eventually takes you through a gravel paved wooded area that runs along side the soccer fields. It leads back out to the road where it circles back to the blocked off road at the entrance. It's a giant circle. But it's a peaceful and easy trail. Overall solid little park and it's pretty close to my home. So I'll come up here and let the girls play on the playground. It's very rarely crowded. Most of the crowd heads to the larger McNeely Lake Park about 3 miles down the road as it has several massive playgrounds. So a lot of time when we don't want to deal with bit crowds I'll make the short trip here and let the girls run wild and blow off energy.

Pulling in I wasn't sure what to expect. I was thinking maybe it was a small drive through sculpture garden with a handful of sculptures. Man was I wrong! There are hundreds of cool and unique sculptures. Towards the back is a gravel parking lot where you can get out and explore. You will Find yourself veering off the main path to see a sculpture and realize there are 30 more hidden in an area. My family and down family friends spent a small portion of our afternoon here. We only allotted ourselves like 30 minutes to view so there is absolutely no way that we seen all the sculptures here. But we did see was nothing short of amazing. Some of the coolest and most unique works you will find in Kentucky. Overall this is a must do for any art lover or anyone who likes to get out and stroll in nature on nice days. We will absolutely come back and check out this free sculpture park on a day when we have more time so we can fully appreciate all the Josephine sculpture park has to offer!

Between that and the thick foliage, there are only a select few places with.river fews, mostly from what looks like a large distance above the river. Nonetheless, a flood line well above the path, dated to March of the year I write, was an eye-opener. A few sculptures dot the river as well, and there are a couple of bridges that have pedestrian paths. I could not find anywhere to fill a water bottle, though a few porta-potties were set up. It wasn't a stretch of land that blew me away, but an extended nice calm paved path in an area that was mostly private property seemed worthwhile to me.

This set of trails apparently belongs to a local private college that I hadn't heard of. They are…read moreopen to the public, and it wasn't hard to drive and park here. The trails cover a wide variety of environments, reaching a meadow where the power lines through and going down into the ravine which holds the Kentucky River. Once you're down there, a long path runs under the riverside cliffs. As is often the case in this region, the scenery is pretty, but on the difficult side. Many of the trails are narrow and covered with gravel or mud, and are high enough in spots that a slip could carry some significant consequences. There were plenty of bugs as well. But I managed to get a solid two-hour workout/scenic visit in. It's free and it's not far from Lexington.

I saw this park on a map and dropped by with no expectations really. It turned out to be mostly a park for baseball fields rather than open areas or walking paths. The sports areas seemed pretty good though and had bleachers and fencing etc suitable for high school type ball games. It had walking access to the Kentucky River and a few paths that were, at the time, very muddy. There was a lot of drainage pipes, construction stuff and other maintenance areas that detracted from the view. Of course the trees had to leaves but I'd expect them to be nice in the right season. The Capitol view was okay. There was a mountain biking path that seemed like it would make a good ride for those interested. Many deer in the area which was very exciting for the dog and fun for me too. My 3 star review is because it just doesn't seem to meet a nice variety of park uses enough and because of all the maintenance areas (fencing, stacked mulch etc that seems permanent) detracting from the park atmosphere. It was easy to access though from the E-W Connector and had plenty of parking. The bathrooms were closed for the season which annoys me but is common in municipal parks (of course no one needs to pee in the winter....).

Upon driving into the park, it was immediately obvious that this park was designed for baseball. A huge, well-kept baseball field dominated the landscape next to the parking lot, with some very nice bleachers for an audience. Must be used for local school baseball or something. You can tell people really care about this park. Not being an avid mountain cyclist myself, I can't say a lot about the mountain bike course. It runs about 5 miles around, and is quite treacherous in a few places. There are two pits along the course known by cyclists as "Sinkholes" that are very challenging to bike through. A good portion of the early part of the course is a gruelingly slow ascent. Emily almost gave up in the middle of her third lap... Her calves were cramping bad. This says a lot, considering that she bikes 12 miles everyday through town.
