I called about my bill as we were sent there by our dentist who retired unexpectedly. My husband had already had an evaluation and his X-rays sent with his appointment. I was told by the receptionist that they wouldn't be charging an exam fee. Which clearly they did. Then when my husband checked in the girl said his card wasn't his dental card. Our Aetna commercial plan has both medical and dental on the card in the top right, so that was a red flag they can't even read an insurance card. Then when he goes to check out they charged him $152.03 for 1 cavity! Our insurance plan covers 80%. That seemed steep so I called and Brandy starts saying we're out of network and our insurance will only pay so much etc etc. I explained our insurance pays the same coverage regardless of in or out of network but we pay the cost overage if they charge more than the recognize amount but still $150 seemed a lot and asked where she got her numbers. She starts treating me like an imbecile and saying " nobody forced you to come here" and acting like I had no idea what I was talking about. I again told her I understood were out of network I wanted an explanation about how they were getting the numbers she was claiming my insurance would pay. She got huffy and snotty and said " we have a book with all the insurance and we use estimates" I'm like well that's a low estimate and you charged us too much! And asked why I was billed for another exam when I was told we wouldn't be charged. She kept getting hateful so I told her to go duck herself. Then when my insurance adjuster called to find out why they charged a fee for an exam when they had info from the previous provider just two weeks before she said " I was going to write it off but she spoke to me in a tone I didn't appreciate so now I'm not going to" real professional Brandy. I'll take my business elsewhere. A real shame because my husband and son said Dr Peterson was very nice. I did call my insurance company and as you see they will be paying twice as much as she "estimated" so they owe me a huge refund. Per my insurance I should have only been charged $67 out of pocket. That includes the overage for their above average costs. Be weary of this dentist and what they are charging!!!

I am extremely disappointed in the customer service of this dental office. I had numerous issues over the course of the one year I went there before switching. Dr. Malloy seemed caring and compassionate but his support staff were rude and unprofessional. I'm going to try and summarize without writing a book: 1. 1st appt insurance estimate for crown and night guard (I showed Dr Malloy at picture and he said he could make me the same one). I told hygienist I do not do fluoride when she asked me. No Fluoride was applied to my teeth. 2. One month later temp crown applied by dental assistant. She was inexperienced and made it too thin. I expressed my concerns during visit but she was confident she did it correctly. Front office staff told me I owed entire amount for crown and insisted I pay it that day ($1000ish). When I questioned it told me I reached my max insurance benefit. Explained that was impossible, was told I had to pay full amount. Would not investigate further and told me if I had an issue to call my dental insurance company. I called immediately and they confirmed the dental office made a mistake and they hadn't ran it through my insurance. I received a voicemail the next day from the dental office saying they had a glitch in their system and I would be credited but No apology for the mistake. 3. Temp crown crumbled after 12 hours and I wasn't even eating or chewing. 4. Had to go back for 2nd temp crown. This time the young dental hygienist had a more seasoned lady help her. 5. Also at the one month crown appt I was fitted for a night guard. 6. Night guard came in 4-6 weeks later, it was the wrong one. 7. Had to comeback to be re-scanned for the correct one. Waited another 4-6 weeks and this one was incorrect. 8. Received a voicemail from them saying that Dr. Malloy wants to make it right so they are not going to charge me for the night guard. 9. Went in a 3rd time to be re-scanned for the correct night guard and they credited me the $375 I had originally paid. 10. Waited 6-8 weeks, finally contacted them. Yep, night guard was in. When I went to pick it up the receptionist at the front told me I owed them $375. Mind you this is the same lady who I had the encounter with about the crown. Explained to her that it was supposed to be free. She left her desk went in back then came back and told me this night guard was way more expensive then the original one I was quoted for so I owe them. I asked how much more and she couldn't tell me. Then said are you ready to run your credit card. I paid it. 11. It was time for my second 6 month cleaning. The hygienist called me on Monday and asked if I could come on Tuesday instead of Thursday because her mom was having surgery. Okay I felt terrible but I couldn't change my schedule. It's highly unprofessional for her to call me and ask me that. If she needed the day off then they should have rescheduled me or moved me to another person. Her not being there for her mom's surgery shouldn't have been on my shoulders. 12. Went for my cleaning. It was very awkward. She ended up putting fluoride on my teeth without asking me and I was unaware of her doing this. She then proceeded to walk me up to the front and tell the same receptionist I owed for fluoride. It was $30ish and yes I paid it. At the point I was so over that place, it wasn't worth even saying anything. Needless to say I switched dentist. I am so glad I did. I know Crow Valley reads and responds to these so I surely hope you make some major changes in your customer service. Your front office people are the face of your business. They are the 1st and last person a customers sees. I was a paying customer and should have been treated with kindness and compassion. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how you handle them that makes all the difference! Start showing you value your customers!

We moved to the QC area 22 years ago and started looking around for a dental office. We went to…read moreanother place first that had a bunch of dentists and claimed to be great with families and kids. We did NOT have a good experience there and then someone told us about Dr. Nelson. We immediately fell in love with the office and the people there. The general staff has changed over, almost completely, since we started going there. That would be expected as people move or their family circumstances change, but the care and professionalism has remained constant. There has been an occasional glitch with what the insurance will pay, but not any more than I've had with medical doctors' offices. The problem is that doctors and dentists don't (or haven't historically, at least) have "real-time" connections with insurance companies. If you go to a pharmacy, their computer can tell you immediately if your medication is covered, and the price you'll pay, but this is not the case with doctors and dentists. Each time there's been a problem we've been able to get it figured out and take care of it. Dr. Nelson has a Type A personality and is constantly jumping from bay to bay as he and his team take care of patients. It is a well-orchestrated "dance" that ensures that you don't have a lot of time just sitting around while all the activity is next to or behind you. He uses all of the latest techno-wizardry available. One of my favorites is a CNC-type machine that can make a crown out of a cube of whatever kind of material a crown is usually made of, while you wait. The machine makes the actual permanent crown, not some temporary one. He took me back and let me watch it work on a crown for me. When it was done, he "glued" it onto my tooth and I was out the door with a permanent crown (and no need for a return visit in 10 days to get the "real" crown installed). What a time (and money) saver. At the end of each visit, the staff puts together a "goody bag" including a toothbrush (or brush head if you have an Oral-B electric toothbrush), toothpaste samples, and other tooth-related items. It isn't a BIG thing, but is an example of some of the little things they do at this office to let you know they appreciate you. The best example of why I wouldn't think of going to another dentist is because of something Dr. Nelson once did for me over a weekend. He had done some extensive work on one of my teeth, trying to save the "root". This was on a Thursday, as I remember. Once the anesthetic wore off, the tooth started bothering me. I took ibuprofen and tried to gut it out, thinking I would get it fixed on Monday (they only see patients for a half day on Friday). Well my plan didn't work. The pain kept getting worse and I eventually decided I wouldn't make it to Monday. I hated to bother Dr. Nelson on a Saturday evening, but I either needed a root canal or pain relief that was stronger than ibuprofen. Dr. Nelson said he was going to finish dinner then call me back to meet him at the office. When I got there, he sat me down, took one look in my mouth and said he would have to do a root canal right after all. Using my chest as a staging area for his tools and equipment, he got down to business and, half an hour later, I had (yet another) rootless tooth in my head. Maybe any dentist would do that for a patient, but it was a first for me. The bottom line is, I wouldn't think of changing dentists and hope Dr. Nelson doesn't retire anytime soon.

Highly recommend this office. In regards to your insurance, make sure YOU call YOUR insurance first. Most of the time, it's insurance problems, not the dr office.
