I had a lot of fun learning with Rob/team and the other students, and I was even approached by a curious seal! One thing I wanted to highlight is Rob & team's emphasis on safety. I so appreciated how seriously they take SUP safety. I felt very safe in their care, and after this class I feel confident about venturing out onto the Sound, with a SUP buddy or two, to practice what I learned in class. Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

We unfortunately saw no whales during our first outing (so many cute seals and eagles though!), but they were able to squeeze us in the next day for another chance at no additional cost. And on that second trip we were blessed to see multiple orca pods socializing together! They had a mic that they inserted into the water, and we got to listen to them socialize. I wasn't aware they had this and it was such a magical experience to hear them! Huge thanks to Ivan and the rest of the crew for this once in a lifetime experience, it was a dream come true!

Paid the deposit and filled out all the waivers…read more Unfortunately the Saturday before our trip my husband needed emergency surgery which caused us to have to cancel our trip. I called and emailed all of the various excursions, rental cars, sea plane rides etc. Every single one responded and let me know what I needed to do to get credit or refund etc. All were very helpful and supportive EXCEPT SEA QUEST. Sea quest didn't respond at all other than by sending requests saying they did not have our waivers. To which I responded letting them know we had cancelled the trip and btw had sent the waivers even though they're not necessary at this point. I would've been ok if they kept the deposit or gave us a credit. But they continue to ask for waivers while I'm in the ICU with my husband and have now added an additional charge. The kicker is that we're a party of three and they sent a message stating that solo kayaking isn't allowed?? So, are you saying someone has to stay behind because we're a party of 3 and you don't have other kayakers?! lol What a stupid comment w/o providing more info. Clearly not organized. They used to be reputable but clearly they're new ownership has issues. This is one company I won't be using when I rebook our trip.
