I just had toe surgery at Anderson with Dr. Schipper. He did an excellent job and I had. Good results from the surgery. If you're worried about having a pin in your toe, it was not a problem at all. I didn't even know when he removed it, absolutely no pain with that. The PA were both great and everyone who works at the Lorton office were kind and helpful. Simply the best. The whole team here is compassionate and honest. Not all orthopedic surgeons are created equally. Have had three quite significant knee surgeries. Felt pain with rain and barometric pressure drops. Had five orthopedic surgeons say "you need to get your knee replaced." Was about to agree with them, but sometimes it pays to be skeptical. Dr Hamilton and others came up with a treatment. "Knee replacement?" They were correct. Pain was caused by previous surgery done by another practice, that's no longer recommended as doctors and medical professionals have learned. After six months of PT, I was able to avoid this unnecessary surgery. Thanks to Anderson my knee is now properly aligned, and without the cost and pain either. Definitely go here! read more

More importantly, he is compassionate and generous with his time and expertise. I had a hip replacement with Dr.Goyal. I was suppose to go home same of surgery and without explanation I was kept overnight. It was clear no one wanted to tell me what happened and I was too drugged up to ask. I felt something was wrong when immediately after waking from surgery. No one would listen to me - including Dr. Goyal's physician assistant (PA) who I saw twice about the pain I was experiencing. She said nothing was wrong. You aren't allowed to the see the surgeon after surgery. You can only see the PA. No physically therapy (PT) was approved, just Dr. Goyal's PT app. I wasn't progressing and was in pain and I asked for a script for PT. I was not able to progress during PT and had to abandoned it because of the extreme pain it was causing. I saw another surgeon at Anderson Clinic who said I need revision hip replacement. I got 2 second opinions who adamantly said I did not need a hip replacement. Instead I had hip Iliopsoas. Fixing a Iliopsoas has a low success rate, so now I have to deal with pain when I do certain things. I was treated very poorly by Dr. Goyal and his PA. I would never go to Anderson Clinic. I was caused an extreme pain by trying to do PT while having hip Iliopsoas. I would NEVER go to Anderson Clinic again! read more

Each experience with Anderson has been exceptional, primarily because of Martelle Blaine. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, helpful and efficient. I cannot say enough positive things about her positive demeanor and the way in which she has handled ongoing issues with my foot and ankle. She always has a great game plan for treatment, and is very encouraging and optimistic. I would highly recommend working with Martelle to anyone with medical issues in this realm. After reading a few of your past reviews who is obvious after labor pool his lacking. My experience that's fine, not great but polite and reasonable. I sometimes we leave that some patience are so upset major problems they project this onto the front desk. The human resources Office must find it difficult to hire compassionate, competent personnel. Patients must be willing to show same understanding of the front desk as they expect from the personnel working at front desk. A personal observation is that the medical system's needs exceed the amount of time provided by management for adequate patient-provider interaction. My husband needed a second opinion regarding an extremely severe injury to his C2 vertebrae which could have left him either paralyzed from a spinal injury or dead from a stroke. We are grateful to have avoided either worst case scenario. In fairness, the PA, Tiffany, whom we saw today at Anderson Clinic seemed to be friendly, knowledgable and thorough. I believe we probably received a competent enough second opinion on the treatment methodology we have been given by a non-Anderson Clinic doctor. But, the treatment we were afforded today by the front desk personnel was abhorrent. We were not alone--many others, some appearing to be more elderly and infirm than we, were treated with complete disdain. I would have expected better treatment in a third world country. And, to be fair, I believe that shit runs downhill. So, whatever marching orders were given to the front desk personnel by doctors and/or clinic managers was followed to a tee with a vengeance. If patients and their caregivers could have been pushed out of 4th story windows by the young women "welcoming" patients today, I am certain they would have complied with a relish. Patients and caregivers were told to take their paperwork down to their cars in 100 degree weather and not to return until their appointment time. Caregivers were told to get out of the doctors' waiting room. Patients in wheelchairs were separated from their caregivers. Caregivers and spouses were literally told to get lost--they were not welcome in the building. I hope these young women who treated patients and caregivers so callously never have to experience the total lack of compassion, concern and humanity that they dished out today to the elderly! It was inexcusable, incomprehensible and inhumane. And, where does the buck stop? At the top, with the doctors. Shame on them and on their employees. And, before, you chalk this up to COViD 19, let me remind you that you took a Hippocratic oath--yes, there is a pandemic going on, but people are dying of many, many other causes--it's time you stepped up and treated your patients for the problems that are really killing them. They need your professional care--not your cowardice and lack of compassion. read more

About a year ago I had both of my hips replaced by Dr. McCasey - the surgery was done at the Mt Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA. The surgery itself went smoothly without a hitch and within about 4 weeks I was walking without a cane, and at 6-weeks biking. I initially was VERY concerned about having both hips replaced at once, but I am so glad that I did. My groin pain is gone and I have a full range of motion. Best of all, I don't need another surgery! I liked that fact that during my recovery I had an app on my phone so that if I had a question someone from Anderson clinic always answered- truly top notch care. The testament to Dr. McCasey's work is that in June of 2020 - about 10-months after surgery - I fell off my bike riding riding close to 20MPH right onto my hip. Massive raspberry and bruise but no other problems. He did a truly fantastic job. Best of all, he's a really a good guy and easy to talk to - highly recommended! read more

I have had a very positive experience. Dr. "Andy"Engh converted my partial knee replacement ( performed by a different practice) to a total on August 3rd. I am recovering remarkably well and have been pleased with my total experience thus far. No one at any stage has been rude to me. Far from it. The office staff, doctors, hospital staff have all been accommodating. Have I had to wait? Yes, but it's worth it. I bring a book and sometimes I wait and sometimes I don't. People come from around the world to see these physicians. I only go 15 minutes. I feel fortunate. The primary reason I switched practices was communication. The Anderson group uses an "app" called PULSE where you check in your daily progress for 2 months. You can ask questions and they back to you quickly. I have never felt alone. read more

Last Friday, I scheduled a first-time appointment with Dr. Hubbard with his office's scheduler, Julia, who was less than enthused to get new business for the clinic. I thought her mood would lighten up after a bit of an exchange, when she would realize I have insurance or that I can be a good patient. Every question that followed after I expressed my reason for coming it was as if it was the biggest chore for her. I felt unwelcomed and like I was bothering her with my interest in coming in. After having the weekend to think about whether I'd be better off at another ortho clinic, and then getting a robo-call reminder today for this week's appointment, I decided to cancel my visit and will be going to another practice instead. Also, don't call between 12 & 1 PM b/c they shut down the phones for lunch and you can't even leave a voice mail. And the robo-call wouldn't let me cancel my appointment. this is clinic is all about milking money from the patient and insurance company. they will force the patient to purchase their products at an high price. the same product you can get from Walmart/Amazon at a significantly lower price. they charge me approximately $263 for a leg strap which cost less than $20 in Walmart. they did not even bother to advice me the cost of the item before selling it to me. i only found out about it 2 months later when i received the claims back from my insurance company. After insurance company paid a portion of it, the clinic send me a bill to pay the remainder balance. i tried explained to the billing department that i was never told that the price will be this high and the billing department said, they can't do anything about it and asked me to pay the remained balance ASAP. read more

I've had 2 total knee replacements with Anderson Orthopedic Clinic at INOVA Mt Vernon and they are fabulous. The staff at the both offices in Alexandria and Arlington are professional and friendly. The nursing staff at INOVA Mt Vernon Anderson Clinic wing are great as well. This is a painful procedure but they take very good care of you and the food in the hospital was actually good. The Anderson wing of the hospital has been remodeled as well. I stayed prior to the remodel and after and I am very unpressed with the changes. They made all of the rooms private which is a good idea. You're in so much pain and trying to get to the bathroom is a process and it helps to have privacy. In addition my husband was able to stay in the room with me both times and it was very comforting to have him with me. Last but not least my surgeon, Dr. Nitin Goyal, is fabulous. This second surgery went even better than the first. This is my third time having orthotic surgery from an Anderson surgeon and I remain impressed. Dr. Steven Neufeld, who has his own practice now, did two foot surgeries on me many years ago and he too is a great doctor and surgeon. read more

I had total bi-lateral hip replacement surgery in July with Dr. Bill Hamilton. I can not say enough nice things about the staff at the Anderson Clinic. They have been very helpful and answered all my questions. Dr. Hamilton answered all my many questions and explained the surgery. The nurses at INOVA Mt Vernon Joint Replacement Unit surgery team were great. They made me feel comfortable, explained everything they were going to do and helped this nervous patient get through their first surgery. The nurses on the Joint replacement floor were great too. They explained all the medicines, they gave me and answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. The floor has been remodeled and all the rooms are private rooms. My brother was in my room waiting for me when they wheeled me up from recovery. They wasted no time getting me up and moving with 2 PT visits after my surgery. They made sure I could walk, walk up and down the steps and feel comfortable in the bathroom & shower before discharging me. I have been pain free since the surgery and so far so good. They have closed the PT unit at the Anderson Clinic at Inova Mt. Vernon but they have many good PT clinics they recommend. It may take you a while to get an appointment at the Anderson Clinic and with Dr. Hamilton because they are very popular But for me it was worth the wait. read more

Like other reviewers here, I have had excellent care at Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic. I have had two Total Hip Replacements, six years apart. The knowledge level of anyone who works at the Clinic is readily apparent, you know you are in the right place with your first visit. I've told people to go here for a second opinion, you will receive an education in what joint replacement can do. You will meet other patients, all of whom say, 'I got my life back'. The procedure each time required 36 hours in the hospital, start to finish. Pain free immediately....why not----the site giving so much anguish has been restored with a state of the art implant device. That shattering pain is gone immediately. The post-surgical discomfort is bearable and lasts just a few days, lessens with each day. You'll be free to go back to work in Week Four......a new person, the pain is history. With your timing for a second opinion or to become a new patient, remember as with all things-----good means busy. You might not be able to get with someone immediately. Anderson Clinic is world reknown, it is an exceptionally well-run practice, but it took awhile for me to get in as a new patient. Plan accordingly. They're getting patients more than just throughout the Washington region, patients fly in for joint replacement here. This excellent clinic of 40+ years is top notch orthopedic care. Truly, the PA a saw here was either the most arrogant or most apathetic "provider" I've ever seen: she didn't even complete a full exam. She was obviously just a gate keeper, looking for patients that could make the practice money and basically telling anyone else to get the hell out after a negligently brief exam. Here's an idea, since you're not a physician, arrogance is probably a bad idea as it clearly led you to not review my history, not address chief complaints, do a half assed / incomplete exam and write my symptoms off as not important enough for you to spend more than 5 minutes on. Don't waste your time and money here since all you will get is: a provider that doesn't dane you as important enough for her to spend more than 5 minutes on, even though she clearly doesn't have the skill set to work a differential diagnosis. It's difficult to determine why this "provider" had so little insight into her own lacking skill set that she failed the patient by not having an actual doctor help out on the case. Sloppy practice, sloppy provider a true waste of time. Maybe it's time to quit medicine if you are that apathetic. I hope you figure out how to give a damn or leave practice PA - DC. read more

I had pain in my left knee that was getting progressively worse over a period of a couple of months. At first I attributed it to getting old, but when it got to the point that I was limping all the time I went to see Dr. Goyal. I was fortunate in that I didn't have to wait long. He had x-rays taken and his fellow, a much younger doctor working under him, came in to talk to me. He said the films didn't show anything but mild arthritis. Dr. Goyal came in and gave me a prescription for an anti-inflammatory and an order for physical therapy. This was on a Thursday. I made a PT appointment for the following Tuesday. Then that Saturday night just after I walked up the stairs at home I felt and heard something pop in my knee, followed by excruciating pain and the inability to put any weight at all on that leg. The next morning there was no improvement so I went to the ER. They gave me an immobilizing brace and few pain pills and told me to follow up with my ortho. That is when everything went downhill. I got in to see Dr. Goyal the following Tuesday (having cancelled my PT appointment). He had a new set of x-rays done, and said nothing had changed from my previous x-rays. Once again his fellow took over. He basically said there was nothing wrong with me. I asked for an MRI because I knew something was really wrong. He said, "I *could* order an MRI, but that's a $5,000 test and we wouldn't be able to do anything for you anyway." Once again Dr. Goyal came in and concurred. During this appointment they both became increasingly dismissive and gave me the impression they thought I was drug seeking, although the only time I'd mentioned drugs was when they asked me what the ER doctor did for me. Dr. Goyal had the brace guy come in who fitted me for a hinged knee brace. That helped a lot and I'm still wearing it all the time. Following Dr. Goyal's advice I started PT two weeks later, which has been helping, but after 3 weeks of it I was still in a lot of pain and couldn't walk up or down stairs at a normal pace and relied heavily on the handrail. I called Dr. Goyal's office for another appointment specifically to get an order for an MRI. I told the receptionist that was why I wanted to see him and she said I'd have to talk to his nurse first. I held for a little while and his nurse got on the phone. She was very pissy with me. She said Dr. Goyal had already determined there was nothing wrong with me and that I didn't need an MRI. I told her I felt I shouldn't still be in so much pain, so I asked if there was someone I could see there who deals with soft tissue injuries rather than just bones. She said that was a good idea and recommended Dr. Nagda. Long story short (-ish) I ended up seeing Dr. Nagda's PA, Jillian Hobbs. She was horrible. She seemed angry from the start of the appointment. She was incredibly condescending and treated me like I was wasting her time. At this point I was in tears and said I know something is wrong with me and it seems like none of them believed me. She didn't even acknowledge I was crying, much less offer anything even remotely resembling compassion. She said, "I don't know what to say. We don't order MRI's unless someone is going to have surgery." I said, "How do you know someone needs surgery if you don't do an MRI?" That really irritated her. She begrudgingly wrote an order for an MRI. Then she looked at my brace on the chair and said sarcastically, "Where did you get THIS?" I said from Dr. Goyal. She said, "Oh, then I guess you can keep wearing it." This woman has no business practicing medicine. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a doctor's office. I made an appointment to see my family doctor the next day. I told her the whole story about my knee and then she examined me. When she was done she said she thought I had a torn meniscus and she ordered an MRI. I used her order to get the MRI rather than the one I got from Jillian Hobbs because I had no intention of ever going back to the Anderson Clinic. I got the MRI results yesterday and guess what? I have a torn meniscus. I'm seeing a doctor at OrthoVirginia in a couple of days and am looking forward to FINALLY getting this fixed. read more

Disclaimer, I have a phobia of doctors and usually don't care for them as a whole. I also don't hand out reviews, just because doesn't work for me. So the fact that I am taking time to write this speaks volumes about Dr. Sameer Nagda from the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic (located at 2445 Army Navy Dr Arlington VA 22206). So after years of abusing my body through sports from my early youth through the collegiate level, and then into 10 plus years into the United States Air Force. I was quite successful in damaging my body (both ankles, both knees, lower back, and left shoulder). My left shoulder resulted in the loss of feeling from my shoulder blade to my fingers. After almost 20 years of talking with doctors who could not pin point what was going on with my shoulder, almost all were willing to do exploratory surgery, a friend of mine informed me of a brilliant surgeon who works on shoulders and knees. Dr. Nagda. Dr. Nagda did a thorough check on both my knees and shoulder. He developed a plan of action of what he thought was need to get me back to a point where I could play with my kids as quickly as possible. Every step of the way he was there for my family and me as he had his staff follow up with my wife to make sure that we had everything we needed right up to the day of my shoulder surgery. My surgery with Dr. Nagda was an amazing experience. When I went into the surgery room, the assistant asked me what music I would like to listen to while preparing for surgery she continued to explained the process of what I can expect during and then after the surgery. After that, Dr. Nagda came went over all the details again to ensure that I was comfortable and ready to proceed. The surgery went better than expected for my shoulder, however, during the surgery my wife was notified that my father had passed away. When I came to, Dr. Nagda was sitting over top of me with tears in his eye. I instantly knew that there was something wrong... I recall Dr. Nagda telling me that surgery was most successful and that I would be able to make a speedy recovery.... he informed me that I was ready to be discharged and that my car was right outside (his staff took care of getting everything ready so that we could be discharged immediately. He then told me about my father, I was crushed! Because of the closeness that Dr. Nagda has with his patients, he knew how close I was to my father and that I couldn't stay away from my father. He personally wheeled me out to the car and helped me get as comfortable as I could and ensured that I had enough medication to help deal with the pain that was coming from my shoulder surgery. Because the Doc was already close with my wife and I, we already had Dr. Nagda's cell phone, I can't remember how many times he said to call if we needed anything. I also can't tell you how many times he called my wife and I over the next several weeks while I had to deal with family matters. In time, I was able to get to the physical therapist who worked on my shoulder. My shoulder is doing 1000% better than prior to the surgery. Thank you Dr. Nagda! Also, thank you for the compassion that you have showed my entire family! Dr. Sameer Nagda is the reason that my faith in humanity and doctors have been restore. My husband has had two knee replacements at AOC and I have had one. The first replacement was with Dr. Jerry Engh (now retired) and the next two with Dr. Andy Engh. We went to the Mount Vernon office for our visits. The wait time was minimal (the last two visits zero wait time), After researching both Drs. Engh, I would have waited, as I knew we would not go to another doctor or facility for the surgery. The staff has always been friendly. I know Dr. Engh would hope I wouldn't say this, as all patients are not as "lucky", but we had no pain and no complications. All three surgeries went seamlessly. When we came home from my husband's first surgery, he got out of the car and said "I'll get the mail" just like he always has. We have heard horror stories from other people about their knee replacements with other orthopedic surgeons, but our experience with Dr. Eng and AOC was excellent. read more

Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic knows how to run a medical practice. Dr. Gerard Engh performed my knee replacement surgery four months ago and I followed up through Anderson Clinic's rehabilitation. It could not have gone smoother. I, probably like most people, was very nervous and apprehensive going into the surgery. They take care of everything for you. I had no surprise costs or insurance hassles. They coordinated everything with the insurer, told me up front what my out of pocket costs would be. They fully prepared me for surgery, gave me a instructions and checklists to follow. A nurse called months in advance of the surgery date to make sure everything was on schedule. Doctors as well as staff are personable, professional, courteous, and timely. read more

cant recommend dr nigel azer enough not only had a superb outcome with my anterior hip replacement in 2015 done by him - but his pre/post operative care has been 'old school' - in attentiveness (answered all questions at patient's level of understanding, and with openness) / and emotional warmth, and thoroughness you hope for in a clinician and surgeon not only perfect result (NOTE: results may vary for individuals due to bone density, other differences) but also felt as a valued person; not just another patient being shuffled through the system the supporting staff was also superb; xray techs, others all work well together as a team been to other orthopedic practices for minor (knee miniscus tear fix) and major procedures (orthoscopic shoulder cuff repair), none like quality of experience i have had at Anderson Clinic read more

I'm an avid long distance runner. I ran competitively in college, so I pushed my body to the limit. Unfortunately, that caught up to me. With so many Doctors to choose from I wasn't sure where to begin to address the foot pain on my left foot. After carefully narrowing down doctors on google and reading reviews. I wrote the name of 5 doctors down, one being Dr. Schipper. I called each office explaining the issues I had been having, symptoms and pain. I ended up getting transferred to Dr. Schipper's office staff. The office staff (compared to the 4 others I called who were unimaginably rude to me) But the front staff at Dr. Schipper's office were so helpful and very patient with me. Which led me to believe I was in good hands, with the Doctor, and I sure was. Dr. Schipper's bedside manner was very impressive. Mostly because in today's health care you do not get that treatment, it is very few and far between. I felt Dr. Schipper really understood the issue of my constant foot pain. Which turned out to be a stress fracture. I would really encourage you to come to Dr. Schipper's office if you are unsure where to look for a quality Doctor who genuinely cares and is very good, and very helpful. Having suffered with severe shoulder pain for over a year I decided to do my homework to find the best Shoulder Specialist in my area (Alexandria, VA.22306). After my first visit with Dr. SAMEER H. NAGDA I knew that I had chosen well. He listens to you, explains exactly what is wrong, suggests alternative remedies and tells you to beg him to operate if all else fails ! I had both shoulders totally replaced one year apart - it is so good to be pain free ! Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic is the a great experience. The Best Hand Physician in the whole wide world is "Dr. Jeffrey L. Lavallo". I was treated for trigger finger on both hands. (5 fingers and elbow bursitis). I had just lost my insurance and was laid off. He told me to come in anyway. I made arrangement to pay monthly. Dr. Lavallo has the best Inhouse/Bedside manner too!. He is very patient with you asking, "Are you ready? This is going to hurt". After the stick, I was numb. That stick is no joke! But Dr. Lavallo is aware of that and shows the utmost compassion for His Patients. I now live in Alabama. But I will travel to Dr. Lavallo if something is wrong with my hand or elbow! PROGNOSIS, NOT PONTIFICATION! After seeing COREY WALLACH I left Anderson Clinic, not only vowing to NEVER go back, but to get on social media and let others know about my experience. This arrogant man spent less than 6 minutes with me, had no medical records on me, did not ALLOW me to tell him my full history, and ran no test on me. He dismissed my pain and "prescribed" physical therapy. Had he listened to me he would have known I had already been that route. After reading other reviews on Yelp I realized that I was just one of many who had the exact same experience. What a scam. It seemed like he was just trying to get me into the physical therapy system, without making a proper diagnosis. I only went to him because I had moved and it was more convenient. However, I've decided to drive the hour to my old orthopedic who: a) is more pleasant; and b) makes EVIDENCE-BASED DIAGNOSES based on tests, examinations and careful analysis Don't waste your time with MR. I had hip replacement with Dr. Hamilton in February, 2016. I was able to go back to work (office job) in 8 days. The surgery was flawless, the staff was wonderful. I never felt the first suggestion of any type of pain-after coming out of anesthesia, it has been 100% painless. I am walking normally, no limp, no pain. I wish I had the procedure sooner. read more

Going to see Dr Saddler was one of the worst experiences I've had when seeking medical CARE for something. He was condescending, sarcastic and rude. Whenever I asked a question, he'd roll his eyes and give me a smart as* reply and made me feel stupid for asking! I was honestly shaking (and had no hope bc that's how he phrased everything) when I left his office! When i followed up w his secy a week later, she said "well he was going into surgery so his mind was elsewhere. Besides he doesn't even treat someone w hip problems!" Really? He's a freakin ORTHO doctor! Then why did ur call center send me to him?! The worst part is, she had the audacity to say "he also doesn't treat the elderly." Wow....thanks, princess. Looks like a lack of humanity, manners, and competence runs deep in his office. So unless u are a healthy, young (male) athlete with a big wallet, do NOT go see this pompous jerk!! read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I was hung up on while trying to make an appointment because the lady thought I was taking too long to give her the info she needed. She just simply told me that I would need to call back and hung up on me. When I did call back and complained to the office manager about how I was treated she said she overhead the previous conversation and didn't hear anything wrong. After conveying my feelings of being treated so rudely and not believing that the issue would be rectified, I said that I would tell my physical therapist not to recommend them to others, so then the office manager said that she was just gonna cancel my appointment and not allow me to come to their clinic! I am completely shocked that you would treat a potential patient like that. So, I guess avoidance of any customer service is their way of doing things. Super sad to see that this has become the new normal in our culture, rudeness and no culpability of incorrect behavior. read more
