I met with Dr. Brian Lee and I was extremely pleased that he took the time to listen to me and understand my chronic pain. I loved that he didn't just jump to having needles being stuck into my spine but rather focused on less invasive methods before doing that. He took the time to explain any possible future procedures and gave me literature to read up on so that I would be fully informed. I was referred to this office by VA for help with my lower back. When I arrived, the staff at the…read morefront desk were friendly and allowed me ample time to complete the paperwork without any pressure (I am someone who actually reads the paperwork before signing). They also reacted positively to my attempts at humor and were pleasant throughout my visit. They appeared to have no issues understanding how to process paperwork with the VA (unlike some urgent care clinics that try to charge me when they should not). Although the x-ray didn't want to work for me for some reason, I was quickly seen, evaluated, and given some helpful treatment. They used the electrical pulse therapy with an ice-pack and did a couple of adjustments that were painless and surprisingly helpful. I didn't realize how the adjustments could help while he performed them but they did. Finally, I got to perform "an adjustment" on the chiropractor (I po​pped his back). I apparently did a good job and he even mentioned that I provided "an adjustment" for him. Maybe I should look into learning more about chiropractic science. O​ther than the odd situation with the x-ray, all went well and I do feel better. I had a good experience here and I expect that you will have a good experience with Virginia Family Chiropractic for your future chiropractic needs. I tried to call to schedule an appointment and could not reach the office. They asked me a bunch of questions and was on the phone for 20 minutes only for them to transferred me to the nurse station. There is no way to even call the office without now going through Sentara. When I finally got through with the nurse they send me to the ER. My doctor would have never send me to the ER for just and UTI. They do not care about the "Personal" interaction any more. I hate this office now. I miss my doctor a lot and the small office not some robotic agency. Dr. John was a great doctor and was very personal in the past. I'm guessing the change to be Sentara was a business decision that relieves Dr. John and his previous staff of day to day issues but it's a horrible change!!! Now we can't even talk to the office. If this is now the new normal with the change to Sentara it's definitely not patient oriented or in anyone's best interest. Actively looking for another doctor.

My co-pay was $20, I think. It's been 20+ years. I paid the co-pay. I waited quite a long time and when I finally got into the room I waited another 15 minutes. He comes in, doesn't greet me, looks at me and says something like, "if you're here for drugs, forget it." Ya see, I was in my late 40's at the time, hair way past my shoulders, and a few arm tattoos. He judged me by my looks, not my medical problem. I told him where my constant pain was and he gave me a script for Motrin 400. I was laughing inside.. He said come back and see me in 4 weeks. I went to the receptionist and made another appointment. About 2 weeks later I got a bill from them for the entire visit less the $20 I paid. I drove there to find out what the problem was. Then the same lady told me they didn't take the Blue Cross plan I had. I told her she told me he did. That's not my fault, it's yours. She said I still owed the money. I told her I'd pay on my next visit. I went home and called my insurance company. I was told that Oraee USED TO be but they canceled his contract. She said she can't tell me why, but he's NOT a participating physician. The next day I drove there again. I spoke with the same lady again. This time she was rude and started raising her voice. I told her to cancel my next appointment. Then she asked me for the money I owed. I told her to tell Oraee to take me to court and sue me. It's been about 20 years and I never heard anything. A few years after my experience, my now deceased sister-in-law, came to stay with us for awhile. She lived in a different state. She was already under doctor's care for pain management. She chose Oraee even after I told her my experience. I took her to her appointment. She had several empty bottles of the meds she was on. I waited for her and when she came out she had several scripts, all were controlled substances. So, I'm a man and he wouldn't give me anything but Motrin 400... but a 40ish yr old single female goes in and he gives her way more meds than anyone person needs. STAY AWAY!
