I didn't experience any paranormal activity but with the history and stories we were told I wouldn't doubt there is hauntings. Lautenbach's is one of our favorite markets to visit in Door County. There's a great selection of…read morelocal products, including jams, salsa, pies, snacks, and wine. Our favorites are the cherry salsa and the pies--we always make sure to pick some up when we visit. The market is much bigger than it first appears, with a separate wine section and plenty of goodies for both adults and kids. Outside, there's a large parking area, a peaceful view of the orchard, corn hole games, and even a food truck in the back serving grilled cheese. It can get very busy, but the staff has always been friendly and helpful. There's something here for just about every age, whether you're shopping for Door County treats, browsing the wine selection, or just enjoying the orchard atmosphere. Definitely one of our regular stops whenever we're in Door County. Thank You

Really cute inside and out. Very nice outdoor area as well. Tons of goodies in the shop! We purchased cherry donuts and they were amazing and fresh! One of my favorite things from our door county trip. They also had sample of juices to try - the cherry apple juice was my favorite! We actually returned on our last day to go cherry picking! It was so fun, not crowded at all, and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend stopping here for all of your door county cherry and wine tasting needs!

In 1880, the Pioneer Schoolhouse was built. It was only half the size of the building that is standing today. Cordelia Burt was the first teacher in this school. She was paid $7 per week. Miss Burt had 33 students in grades 1 through 8. By the 1920s and 1930s, there were 45 to 68 students enrolled at the schoolhouse. The Goodletson Cabin was built approximately in 1855 on Eagle Island (now Horseshoe Island) by Norwegian immigrant Thomas Goodletson and his family. It was skidded across the ice in the 1860s to the foot of the bay near where the Ephraim Condominiums are now located. Thomas and his wife Kjesten had nine children. Many early meetings of the Bethany Lutheran Church were held in the cabin before the church was built in the 1880s. The Bethany Ladies Aid was founded in the cabin, and Mrs. Goodletson was the first treasurer. The Goodletson family lived in the cabin until the late 1800s.

We took the…read moretractor to the lighthouse (shout out Steve) and explored all of the historic buildings and things before attempting the climb. Less than 100 stairs so not bad and the hatch at the top made me nervous but again, phobia. The view though...wow. Worth every bit of anxiety on the way up and down. So beautiful up there! Once we slowly made the trek down, we headed to the beach, which offered even more beautiful views. We then decided to walk back (it's a pretty short walk but we wanted to experience the tractor out there). It was cool to walk across the causeway and see the lake on both sides of you. Great experience and so glad we checked it off the list!

I have heard that sometimes water level can be high that this causeway can be submerged. If you don't like walking, a tractor-drawn haywagon shuttle provided by the Door County Maritime Museum to reach the lighthouse is an option. When you get to Cana Island, you have to go first to the visitor center to be able to explore the island and go to the lighthouse. This visitor center also has some gift items here. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors. This lighthouse is cool. It is manned by two lighthouse keepers when we went there. The rooms of the previous keepers are preserved and you can see old items there. The climb to the top is 97 stairs. There is no elevator. The panoramic view from the top is nice but not the most beautiful. On one side, you can see the lake while another side shows the rest of the island. Overall, it's still a good experience to see though I would not say that it is a must-see.
