Artichoke Hearts
Stephanie R.

We made a 7pm dinner reservation to celebrate our anniversary. They had asked my husband if we were celebrating anything at the time he made the reservation so he told them. We arrived a bit early but they were able to seat us. They hadn't reserved a nice booth or anything, even though they knew it was a special occasion. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant at a 4 top where they proceeded to clear the other 2 place settings while we sat down and watched. They were numerous open tables so I'm not sure there is a point to reserving a table or providing information about a special occasion. The gentleman pouring water came to the table, poured my husband's glass first, picked up my glass, turned to another guest at another table to answer a question, put my empty glass down, wandered off for a moment, then came back to pour my water. Why is it so hard for restaurants to teach a basic service lesson...ladies are served first. And secondly, at a fine dining establishment, unless there is a fire, the server should complete the task they are handling before moving on to another table's request. Our (meal) server was very nice. He also asked if we were celebrating anything special (apparently, the hosts don't communicate this information) and took our drink order. At no point was the restaurant going to do anything about our celebration so I really struggle to understand why they asked...twice. They brought bread and oil...I love a good bread basket and was really surprised they didn't serve sourdough or focaccia. It was a warmed loaf type bread and some bread sticks. Despite the bread not being more flavorful, it was at least served warm. There are lots of choices on the menu. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts and the clams for appetizers and Five Pepper Chicken and Tortellini for entrees. The artichoke hearts are cooked and presented uniquely but they weren't fully fried - just sort of flattened in a pan. The sauce that was on the plate was really good. My husband had the clams - they were like a clam version of crabcakes, but served in the clam shell. He said they were good but nothing special. The Five Pepper Chicken is actually a pasta dish - panko fried chicken on top a bed of Angel hair pasta with slivers of red, orange, and yellow peppers. It's a very large portion. The chicken was really good - panko breading is my favorite. My husband had the tortellini - he did not like it at all - he said it was very basic tasting. Because of how the evening went and how unimpressed we were with the food (which is seriously overpriced for what you get) we opted to skip dessert. I used to go to all of the Andiamo restaurants in Oakland County years ago but they began to close one by one. We came back to this one hoping to have a nice anniversary dinner and finally return to a place I used to enjoy. I was so disappointed with everything, and felt the price wasn't worth what we got, that I just don't see returning.

Birthday canolli

It's been a while since dined-in, usually carrying out; however for Mitch's birthday we decided to dine-in and couldn't have enjoyed a better experience. Mitch had his fave, chicken Parmesan with Angel hair pasta and I had Chicken Olivia - my favorite with artichokes. It was served with sweet pea risotto and roasted veggies. Yum! For dessert Mitch's birthday cannoli was delish. And we added their unique 20 layer cake- that we'll have leftover cake for the rest of the week - so big!! Next visit won't be so long!

Fried calamari with house-made sauce

I returned to Andiamo and enjoyed another lovely dinner! The atmosphere was lively, including a fantastic vocalist at the bar area. In addition to the sautéed portobello mushrooms and very large sausage and peppers appetizers, I loved the garlicky gnocchi with shrimp entree. Andiamo is still a great dinning experience!

Great service and ambience here at Andiamo. The whole table thought our food was delicious. The bread service is nice, we could go without the breadsticks in the basket though haha! The table side pasta is always a good expierence. We will ask for light truffle next time we come. I'll come back and I'd recommend you try it out!

My husband and I enjoyed our lunch here. We were seated in a booth. The dining room is bright and open, yet private and intimate. Our server was Anthony, he was kind and friendly. We started with the Suppli. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We dipped our bites with the sauce, they were delicious. I got the garden salad, topped with fresh ground pepper and Parmesan cheese. My husband tried the minestrone soup. Both of them were great and tasted fresh. For our lunches, I got the 6oz filet with potatoes and vegetables. My husband got the same. We ate everything! Each dish came out fresh, tasted great, and our service was excellent. We've always loved Andiamo and have enjoyed many wonderful dining experiences here. Today was no different. I highly recommend stopping in for a meal. You're sure to have a great time!

Birthday dessert

Went here for my birthday a while ago. The food was wonderful. I ended up having the Alfredo. We also ended up trying Olivia's chicken. Our server was very kind and made sure we were taken care of. I would definitely recommend this place to people.

Short rib

Came here with a party of four- our server was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and very very polite. The ambiance was nice inside & not too loud. For the appetizer, we got the burrata, which came on a paper napkin? I'm not sure if this is standard or a mistake but I'm not sure why you would ever want a paper napkin to soak up all the good stuff from the burrata. We also got calamari- which had fried banana peppers that looked like calamari- definitely my first experience eating banana peppers with calamari but it was decent. I got the short rib for my dinner which was significantly lacking salt & was super oily. The food was ok, if someone else was paying, I'd come back again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend to anyone.

A fairly mediocre Italian restaurant. The worst is their poor wine selections, but, after all, it's Michigan, not California

Is there still live music at Andiamo's on Telegraph Rd., Bloomfield Hills?

Yes, depending on the day. There was a pianist and vocalist when I dined there.

A friend was babysitting for us tonight and we finally got to try it ... it definitely lived up to my expectations! We started off with the smoked Old Fashioned for my husband - $45 so a bit pricey, but the presentation was super nice - and a cocktail for me. We got the tableside Caesar salad - again pricey, $20 per person and if it's for two people you can get it tableside (which was REALLY cool btw) but if for 3+ people I don't think you can. They literally roll out this huge cart to make it though and it was pretty neat. I had the mushroom pasta with filet mignon tips and it was great; my husband had the sausage pasta which I also liked. We weren't planning on getting dessert (I think, haha - I was pretty full, at least), but we got the tiramisu and the tiramisu drink for my husband (I was driving). Both were very good - the tiramisu isn't large by any means but is enough for 1-2 people. The drink comes with a huge ladyfinger on top. Overall I was very impressed by the food, atmosphere, and waitstaff here - it's not an inexpensive place ($40 for two salads is a bit pricey!) but everything was fabulous, and I definitely want to return at some point. There's also a wine bar next door, I believe, and I didn't know that Prime 29, Nara, and a few other local restaurants are all in the same restaurant group/ownership as Aurora.

I Ordered the Safe Word and it was genuinely unpleasant--bitter, smoky, nothing like the menu described. Asked for a replacement and got the Hugo instead, which was so much better with those basil notes. The smash burger they recommended was solid, but the fries were a letdown. They looked and tasted like they'd been air-fried instead of being actual truffle fries. And when I asked for ranch? They brought Hidden Valley. At a place like this, that's rough. My friends had mixed experiences too--some dishes were decent, others just fine. Nothing that stood out. But here's the real thing: we told them we were celebrating a birthday, and when I had to ask about dessert, they basically brushed it off. Most restaurants in this category do something complimentary for birthdays. Not even an offer here. The service was genuinely strange. Not friendly at all. Given the prices they're charging, I can't imagine why you'd choose this place when there are better options out there that actually care about the experience.
