I have had several eye exams in my life but after visiting Dr. Gore it seemed as though I had never had one before. His exam is professional, detailed and genuinely concerned about your well being. There is nothing better than coming out of a Dr's office feeling great about your visit. Now I know why Dr. Gore has such great reviews! Nicest gals at the front desk. Loved being able to print my paperwork before going to my appointment. They brought me right in and I was able to fit my appointment into my lunch break. Even though my eyes aren't that bad at all, the Doc was very thorough and did all the tests. He was very aware of both my overall health and the health of my eyes. Comfortable, old fashioned and nostalgic office. Reminded me of my childhood doctors office. Sad that I'm moving! Dr. Gore is literally the only eye doctor I'll go to now. He is so meticulous and pays great attention to detail. Found things that no other eye doctor ever did and is extremely knowledgeable. He also just happened to tell me that he's not comfortable ever asking his patients for yelp reviews. He's very ethical and honest. I can't say enough about his work. First class. His prices jump around and so does his terms! I asked him how many visits do I get in case we need to refit contact lenses and he said "Oh I can't remember". The sheet they gave me with prices did not match up with what I was being charged - there was bogus $20 or so charge on the first visit when you pay the exam fee etc - but I let it go when the cranky front desk assistant to Gore gave NO explanation for the discrepancy. It only got worse since now you're pretty much stuck with him. If HE couldn't get you the proper fitting/prescription for contact lenses, it was $40 for each visit! This went on for say 4 or 5 visits, and finally I tried to just stick it out with the bad left eye lens. When I called in (a little past 90 days), the rate jumped to $50 per visit. I understand about paying for a new contact lens since it was past the 90 day mark but to have a 10 minute visit fee of $50 for work HE should have done right in the first place is RIDICULOUS! So I cut my losses and got out. Now I begin again with a new OD; whole exam and fitting fee, and lens charge rigmarole!! But at least this one states there is no additional charge "until we get it right". Finally, someone with ethics. read more

I have never had a more thorough medical exam by a medical professional. Dr. Gore spent about an hour with me to get the prescription just right. He gave me three things to do after my initial appointment so he could make an accurate diagnosis at the next follow up appointment. Thanks Yelp, for pointing me to Dr. Gore. I went to him last year for a regular eye exam and never wrote about it since it was the first time I went. Like everyone here stated, he is the most thorough optometrist I've ever been to. He's very nice and soft spoken, and explained everything to me in detail. And, for the record, I physically saw him clean the instruments before I put my face all over them. Anyway, the reason for this review is actually not for a visit I had, but I called him to schedule an appointment for a floater in my eye (if this happens to you BTW, don't wait 3 weeks for it to go away before you realize it's not going to and then schedule an appointment! Do it right away! But I digress...). I made the appointment with the receptionist, and just about a minute later, he personally called me to ask questions about it. He even was willing to schedule me after office hours to get it checked out! Sadly, since it's a medical issue and I have HMO, I can't see him... but honestly, the awesome thing about Dr. Gore is that he legitimately cares. He even called me back to make sure I get the issue resolved, whether it's through him or another provider (so I know for a fact he's not trying to screw me out of money), and even gave me his cell in case it got really bad at night. If my stupid insurance wasn't so crappy, I'd see him for all my eye care needs, and since I can't afford to pay out of pocket, I'm limited to only once per year for my regular exam. Seriously guys, if you want someone who would go the extra mile for you, go to Dr. Gore! I definitely recommend him! read more

Wow-I'm not sure what else I can say about the wonderful Dr. Gore that hasn't already been said. He is everything that the previous yelpers have described and more. He is super attentive, polite, patient, knowledgeable, basically everything doctors should be but what few doctors really are. This Dr. is a gem! He explained my insurance to me, gave me an extra pair of contacts in case my contacts didn't arrive in time, and explained every step of every procedure. He covers your parking too! His selection of glasses is sufficient for me-I look like a nerd in any pair of glasses anyway. PEOPLE! Come see Dr. Gore for all your eye needs. Phenomenal service! Dr. Gore spends about 1 hour plus per patient. Other offices book patient's ever 15 minutes. He is very thorough and genuinely cares about what he does. If you need to see an eye doctor, he's your guy! He is the only person I would recommend to have your eyes checked out! He also is very quick to respond any questions you may have. read more

Dr. Gore prides himself on being very different from those chop shop eyeglass and contact places. He is careful not to book too many appointments in one day so that he can give each patient the attention they deserve. He is flexible on appointment times and tries his best to work with your schedule. He called me personally to apologize for a delay in getting in some contact samples for me to try. He knows his stuff and he treats his patients extremely well. What more could you ask for? read more

Dr. Gore is fantastic! I'd highly recommend him to anyone, especially people like myself who have issues when it comes to anyone/anything coming near their eyes. I was extremely excited when he told me that I didn't have to endure any 'air puff' torture! ::cough::lens crafters::cough:: I'd literally suffer headaches for weeks before I finally made an appointment because I was dreading having to sit there while this terrible puff of air was being blown into my eye - and worst of all, the fact that no matter how hard I tried, I could NEVER keep my dumb eye open! It was literally my form of hell having to do it over and over again until they were able to get the air into my eye.. ughh.. Thankfully, I never have to go through that again with Dr. Gore. He uses this nifty blue light contraption that seems to be a more efficient way of doing what the air puff machine does. Not to mention, less scary for my eye-phobic self! Like the other reviewers said, he takes his time and is extremely thorough. You definitely leave there feeling cared for which unfortunately is rare these days when it comes to doctors. read more

Wow! I've been to many optometrists but Dr. Gore is by far the best. I usually go to optometrists that are located at big stores like Sears, Wal-Mart, Costco, etc, but this past year I decided to try something new. I initially found out about Dr. Gore through Yelp! (Such a kick A** site!!!) Anyway, when I went in to get my eyes checked Dr. Gore spent over an hour with me, it was exactly an hour and a half. He thoroughly checked my eyes and answered all, and I mean all the questions I had. I was his last patient of the day and we actually went past his usual work hours but he didn't seem to mind at all. He was so patient with me, I was so surprised. Also Dr. Gore's office does an amazing job of fitting lenses correctly on your frames. During eye exam he asked to see my current pair of glasses and he was surprised at what a poor job the previous people did on putting my glasses together (damn you Lens Crafters). I brought in a pair of frames that I bought somewhere else and the job he did on the lenses were amazing. The lenses sat perfectly within the frame, no overhang whatsoever. I just bought a new pair of frames and I plan on taking them to Dr. Gore next week as well. Thanks Dr. Gore!!! read more

Andrew examined my eyes accurately, but gave me a weaker prescription than I wanted. My glasses maker (Moda on Lake Street in Pasadena) told me I wouldn't be able to read as well with this new prescription...and he was right. Dr. Gore and I parted company. read more

I went to Dr. Gore for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. He was gentle and kind and explained what he was doing as he did it. He did not rush me. He made me feel cared about. And I love his staff. They did not try to up-sell me anything. Instead, they gave me my options. Dr. Gore even suggested I might find contacts more cheapily online. But I worked with them and not only got glasses, but cute new frames! While the frame selection they have is not huge, it's solid, and I can't wait to pick up my new glasses. Seriously, this is a great office. Cozy and nice and they know their stuff. Plus, they didn't do the air-puff thing, which I hate. There are no unnecessary procedures. Yay Dr. Gore and co! read more

The best, period. Dr. Gore has been my optometrist for the past 5 years, and without a doubt, he is the best eye doctor I have been to in my lifetime of wearing eyeglasses. He is thorough in his screenings, gentle in his approach...and I always leave feeling like I am his most important patient. More recently, I experienced a change in vision, and Dr. Gore took my panicked phone call immediately, calming me and referring me to opthamologists who saw me the first thing the following morning. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Gore for our eye exams for a while, and we both like him a lot - very thorough, very compassionate, respectful. But this time, I bought glasses from their office, and I was blown away! I loved their selection of frames, it wasn't the same old designers you see everywhere else. They give a discount if you buy the day of your eye exam, and that ended up saving me a fortune. I got 3 pairs that day, and I am super pleased with all of them. I went to Lenscrafters for the last time and I was so dissatisfied with the service, that I decided to look up an eyeglasses store on Yelp. This is where I found Dr. Gore and his team. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The ladies behind the counter know way more about eyeglasses than anyone should know. They take their time to help you find the right glasses at the right price for you. I also decided to schedule a new eye exam with Dr. Gore which I completed yesterday. Dr. Gore's prescription was totally different from the junk I received at Lenscrafters, and my eyes are VERY GRATEFUL for it. No need to look anywhere else but here for eyeglasses and eye exams. The eye examination given by Dr. Gore to my owner was fantastic. In fact, he can see so sharp that when we go out for walks, he spots things that I cannot see, although I am only 5 inches off the ground and he is much taller than "moi". So with his fantastic corrective lenses that Dr. Gore prescribed, he can see things that I cannot see and we can cover each other. Now, if only Dr. Gore can give my owner the "smell and sniff" test that I can do better than him, then we might be almost equal....... read more

I've now visited Dr. Gore twice after trying several disappointing optometrists in the area. I originally found him on yelp and he certainly deserves his five star rating. His exams are by far the most thorough and educational of any I've received. He never makes you feel rushed and takes his time to explain everything and answer any questions you have.
