I've been going here for 19 years!! Since I was 6 years old. I've been seeing Dr.Chin. He is hands down the best dentist you could ever want. he's really down to earth and very easy to talk to. As much as I don't like getting my teeth done, he makes the experience very easy and comfortable. They give you head phones while they go to work, makes it a little relaxing while there drilling away. I've had several procedures done under Dr.Chin, porcelin fillings, crack tooth, wisdom teeth pulled, and deep cleaning to name a few. I wouldn't go to any other dentist, oh and you get a toothbrush after every cleaning visit. My husband recently had a deep cleaning were they were going to pull his wisdom tooth at the same time. In the process of pulling the tooth Dr.Chin said he would have to refer him to an oral surgen because the tooth was too deep. After the procedure he was in a lot of pain, we contacted Dr.Chin and he prescribed him vicodin. I have been going to Dr. Woo since I was a really young child. He has always done a awesome job with making me feel confortable while im in the chair. His advice is always on point - I just wish that I followed it in a more timely manner. His assistants are all very confident and knowledgeable. I been going here so long they all know me by face and name. Hopefully, Ill be able to keep going here. Now I live in Oakland, and driving out to Union city doesn't always feel like its the smartest thing. But he is so good... read more

I am very disappointed in writing this review. I initially went in for a general checkup that would lead to having my wisdom teeth extracted. The assistant was fine, I guess. We spoke about my dental history. I explained that I hadn't seen a dentist in 2 years and was concerned with the health of my teeth (if I had cavities, solutions to help me from clenching while I sleep, the likelihood of my teeth shifting because I had 2/4 of my wisdom teeth extracted already). His dental assistant took x-rays, which I NEVER saw. Then Dr. Woo came in and used his dental probe/scaler to examine my teeth. He did so for all of 49 seconds before determining that I had 3 cavities on the right side of my mouth. (Perhaps this was a smart thing for him to say as most people chew with the right side of their mouth. I guess this side is more susceptible to getting cavities?) Anyway, He continued to explain to me that the anatomy of my teeth were "unique" as they had deep trenches that I just couldn't reach with a toothbrush. He then tried to sell me on getting my cavities filled that very day. When questioned about why in my entire adult life this is the first time I was ever told the anatomy of my teeth were so "unique" and why hadn't any other dentist proposed a solution to me, he flatlined and then explained that they were in the early, early stages and did not require immediate action. I refused him. We proceeded with a cleaning. His dental assistant completely missed the buildup on my molar and cut (not touched) my gums with her probe/scaler. If my gums bleed because you're flossing my teeth, okay, fine! But she SCRATCHED my gums. The scratch was about as long as the width of my molar. She also scraped some of my tooth off, as when she was done, I could feel/taste the grit. (I have a slightly chipped tooth and am familiar with this feeling.) Having my teeth brushed was the only savory part of this experience. I knew I need a second opinion. I called some weeks later requesting x-ray copies to be sent to me. Apparently, the x-rays are property of the practice, not mine. I was refused a copy. When I requested his notes, Sandy had to "find them." To their credit, I did receive the notes, however, they did not indicate I had any cavities. I went to see a second dentist and was informed that I had no cavities. The x-rays Dr. Woo's office sent to the second dentist were absolute crap. Not all of my teeth were captured and my roots were omitted. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Woo, unfortunately. read more

I've been going to Dr. Woo for about 20 years. I moved out of the area but will continue to drive to his office until he retires. I'm scared to death of dentistry, but he is an amazingly skilled and personable dentist. He's very sensitive to my nervousness and does what he can to put me at ease. He doesn't "over-treat", yet the work he does is beautiful. His assistants, (Tashia in particular) have helped me maintain good oral health. They are very thorough and caring. They helped me to reverse some deep gum pockets that were forming, that could've led to more complicated procedures. The whole office is very supportive. read more

I have been going to Dr. Woo for about three years now, and although I haven't had anything major done (just routine cleaning and also gotten "deep" cleaning), I've been very happy with Dr. Woo and his staff. All the hygienists are very nice and easy to talk to. The cleaning is very thorough and not too painful (although I really hate that high pitched cleaning tool :( ) and they let you know if you need to improve anything to keep your teeth and gums healthy. read more

I was very happy to find Dr. Woo. I have seen him for about a year now but I will definitely return. I've found the staff all very nice and polite without that frightening cheefulness you sometimes encounter in doctors' offices. He asked me how I found him and I explained that a combination of insurance coverage network + Yelp brought me to him. He wasn't surprised about the network, but was rather bemused that he was on Yelp. So far I've had cleanings and a couple of cavities, sadly, but that's more on my end than Dr. Woo's. He even recommended we do the procedure without anesthesia. I was really scared but he was right. There was no pain, and I totally loved how I didn't have to wait for the numbness to come and go. Although they do not advertise as being a dentist for children, they do see them (older children at least). I can't really give them five stars for a couple of reasons. The magazine selection was a little lacking--no "Time" or "Newsweek" or other popular magazines. It seems (judging solely from their magazine selection!!) that they cater to parents and older adults, but I could be wrong. This is minor, of course, but most doctor's offices I've been to usually have at least "Time" or "Newsweek". They are also not open on the weekends or Friday afternoons which I don't like. I have gone to this office for several years. My usual hygienist was on leave and so they put a temp in to clean my teeth. She spent 35 minutes on taking my xray and had to have someone to step in to help her finish the xray. She then had 15 min to clean my teeth which she didn't do it thoroughly. She doesn't even know how to floss right. I was very upset about it because I only get 2 cleanings out of the year. If the office was going to hire a replacement temp, they should be testing her skills before hiring her. If they dont' value me as a customer, I might as well just bring my business somewhere. read more

This doctor commits insurance fraud, refusing to honor contractual obligations to provide care, and refusing treatment to patients in pain.

Fast, efficient, painless, no unneccessary drilling and a pleasant personality 1.Dr Woo is the most gentle, pain-free dentist you will ever meet. 2.He never makes you wait. He sees you at the exact time of your appointment. 3. Easy billing. The staff automatically bills the insurance for you. 4.He Does not do unnecessary procedures. I've been to many other dentists (because they are closer), but always come back to Dr Woo after they rip me off or cause me physical pain. You never know how good a dentist he is until you experience the other dentists. So here are my experiences with the bad dentists. 1. One dentist took 20 minutes to measure my gums for each tooth. Dr Woo can do it in 15 seconds. 2. I have a small mouth and Dr Woo is the only one who can put xray cards in my mouth where I can bite down and not hurt. 3.Other dentists will slip or not know where the sensitive nerves are and touch it. Dr Woo NEVER, EVER makes a mistake that causes even the slightest pain. This is why I start to sweat and shake when I sit in another dentist chair and why I can fall asleep in Dr Woo's chair when I hear the drill turn on. 4.Here's my theory on why you can't feel Dr Woo' injections. He doesn't push the needle deep all at once. He numbs the surface with a swab, then puts the needle only on the surface and injects a little novacaine, waits for it to numb the deeper tissue, then pushes the needle a little deeper and injects more novacaine. The needle never touches a part unless its numb. Other dentists will swab the surface, then jam the needle deep where you can still feel. 5.Oher dentists will get as much money as they can from you. They tell you that you have several cavities and need caps right away. One dentist ran my bill up to the maximum that insurance would pay. I didn't have enough to get my teeth cleaned. I went in to get my free teeth cleaning and came out with a $1000 bill and had to postpone my teeth cleaning for next year. Dr Woo would never do this kind of unethical thing. 6 .I have complicated insurance. My husband has his own insurance, my kids are under my insurance and I have double coverage. Dr Woo's staff keeps track of all that and bills the correct insurance for us. They make it so easy. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Woo's for 40 plus years. His method and practices in dentistry are exceptional. I have beautiful teeth as a direct result of good genetics and regular consistent cleaning and exams. I'll be very sad when he chooses to retire. Dr. Woo is the best of the best !! read more

Dr. Woo and his team are excellent! I have been going to them for over 30 years now. I live in Danville and drive to his office in Union City for a dental cleaning or appointment. Dr. Woo is honest and doesn't try and find an issue with your teeth to make money.
