My daughter have four teeth extracted for the brace because of impacted tooth. It is faster than I thought, it only took half hour for all four tooth. My daughter was nervous before the surgery and I told her you are in good hands. She told me there is no pain during the surgery. Everything went smooth. They just use the forceps to take it out, no cutting or stitching. Our family had good experience with the doctor and nurses but terrible experience with the front desk. Recently, I came to get consultation and the staff member was supposed to give a total cost estimate for a multi-phased treatment. It was going to be costly and I needed that information to figure out my out of pocket expense. She gave me the cost for the first session only, and was irritated when I asked for the rest of cost. To sooth her nerves I told her it would be OK if she takes a couple of days and emails me the estimate. For my past experience it was unpleasant to talk to her, so I decided to wait longer. It has been 19 days and today I will have to call. So glad to find that other patients had bad exepeirce, ironically, because I don't want to misjudge. I was referred to this office from my usual dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed. Initially when i did my bottom teeth the staff was 5 star, welcoming, knowledgeable, etc, fast forward 2 years later same great doctors but the staff totally changed. The receptionist is rude she acts like you the pt are a bother. Other staff barely smiles at you. I walked into my surgery to a stranger who didnt say 1 word to me. If customer service is not that important to you definitely go to this place for any of your dental surgeries the doctors are A+. Personally will never go back due to staff. read more

We had the worst experience at this place. Firstly when you call them they put you on hold for 30 minutes. Than when they pick up They won't even let you talk. They always say they are busy. Upon reaching the office for our daughters surgery they want a prepayment. It was never discussed with us. They lied that they left multiple messages yet they never did. We stood there checked with them to see if they had both our insurances, than they figured out they didn't have another insurance. They than ran that insurance and prepayment went down $400.00. The dentist there know what they are doing but the office staff need to up their game and need lots and lots of coaching. Dr. Wat and his staff are absolutely amazing! The process for getting 4 Wisdom Teeth out was seamless. The staff makes sure to provide reminder calls the day before appointments just to give out a friendly reminder of your appointment for the week which is fantastic! They also provide co-pay cost upon request. After the procedure (on fault on my own), I got Dry Socket. Each visit back was like seeing family again. I'm telling you- the staff is super friendly! Above all else, they provide stickers to their most important patients (like myself). I got one that says "super patient." Ok, I'm so glad to burn my bridges with this place. Long story short, I just finished paying a bill it took years paying on, then once I got confirmation that I completed my payments the lady in billing says I overpaid and I'm to receive the money I overpaid on. Well, I've been calling almost every week since California reopened and I've still yet to receive this money. I never missed a payment when I was paying down my bill every month, and yet I didn't receive the same respect back. I am not sure about the bad reviews but have not experienced it with Dr. Wat and his staff. My daughter's orthodontist recommended Dr. Wat to us. She had impacted teeth and needed to have eight (YES, EIGHT big teeth) extractions. Our initial consultation was smooth. The 3D x-rays were not covered by my dental insurance but it was worth the $$ I had to pay as I saw how bad my daughter's oral situation is. The day of the surgery was easy. We signed in, got additional paperwork done and we were even able to make payment arrangements (because, again, my dental insurance sucks!) prior to the surgery. After close to two hours, I picked up my daughter and Dr. Wat was kind enough to provide me with an update (how they had to put my daughter down since she did not want to stop talking during the procedure) and handed me her extracted teeth (wowza!). Dr. Wat is an amazing surgeon! The few times I was there, he was always on time, very professional, took time to answer my questions, and even though I have a huge fear of dental procedures, he did a wonderful job. I didn't experience a ton of pain. I ended up taking pain meds for two days after my extractions, and didn't need to after that. I'm just very thankful for his bedside manner (so to speak), and his understanding of my fears to make me feel comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Wat to anyone looking for an oral surgeon. My son has to extract 4 wisdom teeth, one of them had cyst. Here is my visit with Dr. Wat: 1. Dr Watt first recommended to take 3D X-ray and we followed. However, two attempts failed. I stopped the 3rd attempt since the technician didn't seem know how to handle 3D X-ray machine. 2. Dr Watt recommended 3 procedures to remove four wisdom teeth: 2.a. First procedure: to extract one tooth with cyst, performing biopsy; the total cost is above $1200, plus $372 without 3D X-ray, or $547 with 3D ($175 for 3D). 2.b. 2nd procedure: to remove cyst after biopsy results; cost depending on biopsy results 2.c 3rd procedure: to extract the rest 3 wisdom teeth. Dr Wat recommended 3 separate surgeries to remove 4 wisdom teeth, which seems too complicated. So we consulted other oral surgeons, all of them recommended one surgery to remove 4 wisdom teeth plus cyst. So we decided to go to other surgeon, and the result is very satisfactory. read more

I had all four wisdom teeth removed here by Dr. Norman Wat yesterday and the procedure went very smoothly. I am currently recovering, and everything is going much easier than I anticipated (I was really scared to have this procedure done so I put it off as long as I could). Sidenote for anyone with piercings: I was really nervous that I would have to take all of mine out for surgery because they are extremely difficult for me to get out on my own, but they were kind enough to let me keep them in. I think you must take them out for any x-rays though. Anyways, I am mostly writing this review to give a shout out to Caroline, one of the dental surgeon assistants that brought me to the surgery room and comforted me while they were inserting the IV for anesthesia. I was really nervous for that part because the idea of needles, veins, and some type of solution going in really freaks me out, but she very kindly stroked my hair and stayed with me during that part. When I woke up, she helped me up and to a recovery area, where she her bedside manner was superb. She made me feel really cared for and her attentiveness despite having other tasks to attend to for the doctors really made the difference for me and my comfort. I ended up feeling pretty nauseated after waking up, and I felt embarrassed about getting sick, but she didn't bat an eye and took care of me with the utmost kindness. She is a gem, and I wish we had more Caroline's everywhere. read more

Only wonderful things to say about Dr. Wat (both of them!) I've had my share of horrible dental experiences, which brings me to having to visit Dr. Wat. I had two root canals done in my 20's (out of pocket I might add) that started causing me pain. One of the crowns just popped off. It actually felt better with out the crown, but my dentist suggested I eventually have the nub of the tooth removed as well. After a year, I decided it was time. I showed up to the office on my consultation day, and boy was it packed. I waited about 30-35 minutes and then was seated in a room. The nurse is so nice. I like her a lot, and I have forgotten her name already because I suck. He said it wouldn't even be an issue to remove and actually put my mind at ease. Even suggested I could do it without going under. Scary right?!?! I scheduled myself during some break I had off of work knowing my recovery would be a couple weeks. Because I didn't go under anesthesia, I was in and out in like 30-40 minutes. I'm even overestimating. A little scary, because my mouth was stuffed with a hand and a half, but barely even felt any pain. I'm so cool. LOL SECOND time around, I know, great luck, the other tooth actually became fractured and was causing me pain every single day. I opted to go under because it already hurt so much. I had Dr. Steven Wat, his son, for this one and he was just as nice. Recovery was a little tougher for me but it's because I had a bone infection. Sounds hella scary huh, but here I am. Alive and well. I opted to do the procedure 2-3 weeks before I had to go to Disneyland!!! Recovery time was just as stated, sure I had a gaping hole, but I was able to enjoy crunchy foods by then. Hooray!! The only slight negative I'd give is re: office staff. I received a bill in the mail, and it was obvious they only charged one of my insurances even though I wrote down I have dual and also verbally reminded them. I called to tell them and the person I spoke with said to ignore the bill and they will charge my secondary insurance. Fast forward to today, I got ANOTHER bill, this time complete with late charges and no secondary insurance charges. I called again today and Jody told me to ignore the bill (again) and they will charge the second insurance company. (again). Will keep you posted on how this goes... read more

I just went in to meet with Dr. Wat on an emergency referral from another dentist. I called their office first thing in the morning and they basically refused to see my son because they don't accept our insurance. However, the professional and kind dentist requested that they see us and we went in. The doctors' themselves were very nice and did what they could to temporarily aid my son. However, a staff member (I think Kathy - I'm trying to forget) was abrasive and rude. I tried to hurry out of there because of her terrible attitude and customer service but she kept ordering me to either sit, stay out or not leave. As I started to leave, I offered her some constructive criticism, and she became even more hostile. She raised her voice, said she "allowed" us to come and we don't need to bother returning. She also claimed to be part owner and if that's accurate then how very sad. They charge an arm, leg, organs, and a bit more. I'm not sure she understands that my son is not only a patient, he's also a customer, and more importantly a child. The quote they gave me would've required me to take out a loan. She's absolutely horrid and it's sad that these surgeons would be part owners with such a non customer focused and hateful person. I reported this business to the BBB for allowing their patients to encounter hostile staff members. read more

Let me first start out by saying that I have been putting off getting my wisdom teeth removed for about 6 years. Yesterday was the day that I finally got it done and I'm extremely glad that I chose Wat Oral Surgery. I went in for a consult back in August to get ready for the surgery, but I changed my mind last minute. Earlier this month, I figured it was time to stop playing around and get these teeth pulled. I was able to schedule an appointment fairly quickly. In addition, they even accepted my "PANO" and regular X-rays from my primary dentist...that in itself saved me some time and money. The staff contacted me several times prior to my surgery to thoroughly and efficiently discuss billing matters as well as how to properly prepare for the surgery. Yesterday morning finally came around and I was in the office bright and early: 8am. The entire staff was extremely friendly and comforting...that is definitely important for someone like myself who doesn't like to be put under or get surgery, period. After filling out the necessary paperwork, I had a quick consult with Dr. Stephen Wat. Once again, he and his assistant were quite comforting. Off to the "operating room" now... While escorting me, his main assistant kept asking me how I was doing...once again: quite comforting. I then sat in a reclining "operating chair" (for lack of a better word). There were 3 assistants (if I recall correctly) in the room in addition to Dr. Wat. First, my blood pressure was taken. Next, they placed a monitor on my index finger. Shortly after that, the IV was started. Once again, I was continually asked if I was OK. The last thing I remember was the oxygen being placed in my nose. Before I knew it (or didn't know it), I was waking up in a recovery area (I think it was either a bed or cushioned bench). Shortly after my eyes opened, a nurse came over to check on me. The gauze was removed from my mouth and she kept asking me how I was doing. Shortly there after, my mom arrived to drive me home and I was escorted to a seating area. At that point, I became fairly nauseous...probably from the anesthesia. The nurse quickly grabbed a plastic bag for me as well as some Sprite. I was then sat in a dentist chair in one of the rooms. She grabbed a wet towel for me and placed it on my head. Dr. Norman Wat then came in and gave me a shot for the nausea. After they made sure that I was feeling better (without rushing me), the nurse escorted me to my car and off I went. Within a few hours, the office called to see how I was feeling. Today is the day after my surgery and I feel pretty good. I have little to no pain and very, very minor discomfort. It seems like the only issue is the inability to completely open my jaw. With all that being said, I HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY PAIN KILLERS. To me, that is pretty amazing. Dr. Wat and his entire staff are AWESOME. I highly recommend them to everyone. read more

I recently had two wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Norman Wat. Initially, I came in for a second opinion because I wasn't completely satisfied with the treatment plan presented to me by another oral surgeon in the area. Dr. Wat was very clear in explaining my options, risks and the pros/cons of wisdom teeth removal. I was comfortable with his recommendations so I decided to schedule the procedure with Dr. Wat instead of the other oral surgeon. Naturally, on the day of my surgery I was extremely nervous. The assistants made sure I was comfortable and explained everything that was going to happen every step of the way. I opted for general anesthesia so I only remember what happened right up until I "fell asleep". Once the procedure was complete, I was awakened and walked to a recovery area. They let me lay there until I was completely awake and they felt I was ok to be taken home. Recovery was not nearly as bad as the horror stories you hear about wisdom teeth removal. I had minimal pain and swelling. Unfortunately, I developed a dry socket but this is no ones fault; just something that happens to some people. I had to come back several times during a period of a week to have medication put into the area to help with healing. As far as billing is concerned, I was given an estimate of what my financial obligation would be. I paid it to the office the day of my surgery. About a week later, I received an explanation of benefits from my insurance company informing me of what they paid and what my portion was. It was exactly what the staff had said it would be. Bottom line, Dr. Wat and his staff are great. If I had to do it all again, I wouldn't have done anything differently! read more

Drs. Watt and whole team were great. I'm sure they do wisdom teeth surgery every day but I really appreciated how Dr. watt is very sweet and took his time to explain the procedure along since it was my first time using any form of anesthesia and took time to get to know me as a patient. He and the whole care team again were awesome especially post op. I developed some pain near back of my jaw that wouldn't go away about 4 days post op, called the office and they squeezed me in. They placed medicated dressings for pain relief since it could've resulted in a dry socket I believe but they were able to prevent it from worsening and it definitely helped. Hi All! I got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday at Wat Oral Surgery. Long story short, they wern't bothering me but they were impacted. Just turned 30 and you hear all the hype that you don't heal as fast when you get older (that and my bottom teeth were getting pushed) so I decided to make that consultation appointment! ***( I got a referral from my normal dentist to come here, which I brought with me. Why is it good to do this? Because then your dentist sends over your xrays ahead of time so they know what they are dealing with.) I scheduled my appointment two weeks out. I even changed the time because of an early work meeting and they were more than accommodating (as long as you change within 48 hours of your initial appointment, makes it easier on them) Got there 5 min early, filled out some forms and they saw me promptly at 10am. The operating rooms are in the back and you won't see them if you go for a normal appointment. They took me to the back and I saw my chair. The nurse was very comforting and had a nice conversation with me as she hooked me up to the machines and IV. (Probably for a distraction!) I had general anesthesia so I was prepared to go under. The Doctor came in and confirmed I was ok, had a small chat, and I was OUT. It's funny how you don't realize you pass out once they get the drugs flowing. It felt like I woke up two seconds later and the procedure was done. Definitely out of it but I felt fine. They had me lay down for 30 min to make sure I wasn't sick, then my fiance picked me up and we went home. I really enjoyed coming here for this delicate and sometimes scary proceedure, but Wat Oral Surgery definitely took great care of me, and I would recommend this office to my friends =) read more

I've had 3 different procedures done from Dr. Wat, the most recent of which was the extraction of all 4 of my wisdom teeth - and let me tell you, these guys are fantastic. Needless to say having any kind of surgical procedure sucks pretty bad, but Dr. Wat and his team truly make it their priority to not only complete the procedures in a timely matter but to make sure that each client is very well cared for post-op, both in and out of the office. While I was "waking up" from the general anesthesia I can remember multiple occasions where the technicians would stop by and help me sit up/lay down/get me whatever I needed to make me comfortable, as well as calling my designated driver a few hours after the surgery to see how I was doing at home. All 4 of my wisdom teeth were severely impacted and Dr. Wat and his team were able to remove all of them with VERY minimal swelling. I didn't even need a prescription pain killer and was able to comfortably make do with over the counter tylonal, which I only had to take 3 times during the healing process. They may be pricey, but if you want to have that confidence in your doctors that you're in good hands and that they'll take the initiative to follow up with you every step of the way to ensure the most comfortable procedure and recovery possible, definitely stop by this office and have a consultation done. read more

Only go here for a consultation, they bill insurance company for a full office visit, which make the insurance company refuse to pay. Now they ask me to pay in full, even I explain to them and hope they can just correct their bill category, which they refused. Never happened to my other consultations, worst place, and the estimate price for the tooth surgery is 1.5 times higher than the other place. read more

I feel SO lucky to have gotten to go to this place for my wisdom teeth removal. I went to another place for a consultation and they really scared me and made my case sound very severe and gave me other more complicated surgery options and racked up the prices. Dr Wat's office was able to get me in for my consultation AND my surgery SAME DAY. not much more than an hour or so later I have basically no pain or side effects and feel completely normal and comfortable. Everyone in the office especially both Dr. Wat's were so friendly and funny and made me feel so comfortable. They called soon after to check on how I was doing and said to call if there were any issues. Was shocked to see anything but positive reviews on here. I wouldn't recommend anyone else and if I ever need oral surgery again my family or I wouldn't go to anyone else either! read more
